I work in NYC real estate, since 2004. Prior to this career I worked in LA in casting and still have many contacts. Quite often when there is a film shot on location in the city, the featured actors are given the option of first class hotels or furnished rental properties. I get many celebrity referrals for short term furnished rentals: Ryan Reynolds, Downey, Natalie Portman, Cameron Diaz, Leo DiCaprio, Colin Farrell, Russell Crowe. Many other big names. I worked with JLo and Puffy when they rented a place on Jane Street and after the infamous arrest was called to get them out of their lease and find someone to take it over. Most of the famous are actually pretty nice when dealing in real estate, except they do all negotiations through a 3rd or 4th party so it can be a bit frustrating especially in a fast market when units are quickly taken by others. I often find celebrity assistants to be much more diva like than any star.
Hollywood or NYC: Does your job bring you in contact with celebrities? Discuss.

No. I’ve lived in LA for 17 years and I’ve had maybe 3 celebrity sightings in my life.

I work for a well known cosmetic dentist in LA who is one of the best for veneers. I have seen many actors come through the office. If they you see a celebrity with teeth that look like chiclets, definitely did not get work done where I am.

I live in West Village and see them all the time. No biggie.

I work for a money management firm that has a number of celebrity clients. They come in and most act like normal people.
The funny thing is, while these celebrities have millions of dollars, lots of unknown clients have billions.

Yes. I sell real estate.

I work at a Broadway theater company in the main office. We don't see that many celebs, but people that work in the theaters do all the time. Its a mixed bag. Some celebs are awesome, some are complete douches.

r2, did they do Gandolfini's teeth? It was a big improvement over his dead tooth.

I worked for two large record retailers from the mid 80's to the mid 90's. Meeting music celebs was a regular occurrence during those years. Memorable ones include an acoustic set by Melissa Etheridge in our suburban conference room followed by pizza at the conference table. Having Garth Brooks remember my name between meet & greets. Lunch with En Vogue at their peak (charming ladies all), having Donny Osmond sign my Donny Osmond lunchbox from the 70's and getting a birthday themed autograph on a promo LP of Diva from Annie Lennox (in person). As I moved to the classical world there were dinners with Renee Fleming, Roberto Alagna and Cecilia Bartoli. Isaac Stern's 75th birthday cruise on a yacht circling Manhattan with a boat full of old school luminaries including Perlman and Comden & Green (Adolph Green was nearly blind & a complete sweetheart who took my card and later arranged for to be his eyes fir a shopping trip at our Upper West Side Store). A reception at the Russian consulate in NYC celebrating the Met's production of Pique Dame. Sipping champagne and chatting with Hvorostovsky, Matilla, Rysanek (especially Rysanek, who was a fucking doll and passed away shortly after) & Gergiev. Since my office was in out Lincoln Center Store I would regularly encounter Met Singers killing time (and trying to find pirates of their live performances). I Particularly remember chatting with a charming Patricia Racette while she was rehearsing for her debut and a Bing era stalwart Rosiland Elias shopping for then illegal European pirates of her old Met performances and lovely as can be.
Less pleasant encounters included in store events with the uber-cunts Kathy Lee Gifford & Barry Manilow, and having the merely competent (but fur encrusted) Ruth Ann Swenson & her beleaguered gay husband breeze by us like she was Joan Sutherland when we were backstage to meet her at the Met (with poor hubby juggling several Yorkies and more than several bags). Plus, getting snubbed by Kathleen Battle when somebody slightly more important walked into the room.

Did you furbish RDJ and his wife and 2 cats during his Marvel days, where he is treated like a king now?
by Anonymous | reply 14 | October 2, 2018 3:05 AM |
R13. Your encounters seem awesome! I can relate to your opinion of Kathy Lee. I was a waiter at Serafina and she was a horror whenever she came in, usually NOT with Frank (RIP). Her husband on the other hand was very very polite and he almost seemed to tune out his wife when they were together. They came in together not all that much, she was usually with some underling. She treats staff in a higher than you sort of way with the most artificial sweetness saved for any staff member who she believed had authority. She was never held in high regard by any of my colleagues. Hoda Kotb is the opposite, very polite and down to earth, the real deal. I would love to know her real opinion of her co-star.

Events Manager at a corporation. No hassle ever with the celebs, and as OP said the assistants are the divas. Ripped Rob Reiner's assistant a new asshole for shouting at my waitstaff-.told her this was NYC and to leave her bad manners back in LA. Reiner was sitting down the room, ear cocked, and quietly grinning.

Thierry Mugler, huge cock. He usually goes for a muscle clone, but I met him at a late night party in Chelsea in 2002 and he told me that he wanted to have sex with me and asked if I was interested in leaving the party to go fuck!!! Sure. I am tall, thin, and pleasant looking, not the typical Chelsea boy type and we went back to the place he was staying at on W 19th Street. His dick was amazing and he fucked me very well. He was very passionate and cuddly afterwards. It was a great one night stand. I am not a fashionista but some of my friends are and I am forever reminded of how lucky I was that night. And yes, oh you cynical queens, this did happen for real.

no one is jealous, hon. I had to do a google search
by Anonymous | reply 18 | October 3, 2018 2:47 AM |
R17 here. I never suggested anyone should be jealous. It was 16 years ago and he looked a lot different then. I hardly recognize him now. Anyway, there are pics of his cock online, you might be jealous of that, LOL.

I work for a law firm that handles matters for celebrity and well-known govt officials. I see a lot of material that contains personal and financial info which is always interesting. Despite handling their matters, very few enter our doors and I have only seen a few in the office (meetings with celebrated guests are generally handled solely by the most senior of partners). I should also note that I've never met any of them personally but accounts from those around my office who have met them generally state that they're just normal people, relatively little fuss or pretense. Similarly to what R7 mentioned above, it's always surprising to see how little many well-known celebrities are worth.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | October 3, 2018 10:00 AM |
R7 and r26 awesome. I bet most celebs do not invest with discount brokerages (most bang for your buck) like Fidelity, Schwab, Vanguard or Merill Lynch. Instead I bet they unknowingly bleed hundreds of thousands per year in unnecessary fees and expense ratios. True?

Meeting celebrities with some regularity for my job, I see how really insecure so many are. They often don’t understand even the basics of finance so rely on overpaid advisors who prey on their insecurities.
So many rich celebrities are taken financial advantage of and they have have no clue as to the millions they are losing each year.

Fuck, what happened to Thierry Mugler? Did his nose collapse from cocaine overuse and have to be rebuilt?
by Anonymous | reply 29 | October 3, 2018 1:38 PM |
Thierry Mugler seems to have reinvented himself as Manfred. All muscled, steroided up. The nose surgery is weird. To make home appear more butch, like some brutish German bruiser? Maybe this is his fantasy.

I was a lowly usher and ticket taker at the LA Music Center fresh out of high school. Would hardly categorize it as "in contact with" but yeah there were plenty of celebrities. Especially on Oscar night.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | October 3, 2018 2:43 PM |
R29. Poor Thierry, he doesn't realize that he was very hot to so many when he was thin and pre-steroids and other changes. His big fat cock and a thin frame would be amazing to behold. I much would prefer to be with him in your pic, rather than the later years!
by Anonymous | reply 32 | October 4, 2018 2:14 AM |
When I was a waiter both restaurant and high-end catering, I came into contact with tons of celebs. I've ratted out the meanies before, and the nice ones were never a surprise. Charm is free and nice people have plenty of it!
