Pain Au Chocolat.
I'd never even heard of it until a day trip to France circa 1981. We were nuts about it. Kept going into different places to buy it.
and then it took years to see it outside of France.
It's everywhere in London now and not bad in quality. But in France in the good places it's SO LIGHT...and that you don't get here.
Is it a thing in the USA?
Do YOU like it?

You can get it at any Starbucks. But for a better and fresher one, many bakerys sell them.

“You can get it at any Starbucks.”
But why would you?

Don't worry too much about the mediocre quality of English pains au chocolat, OP.
You'll be rid of all that frou-frou Froggy pastry shit soon enough, once Brexit goes through. Back to pound cake and trifle!

I’m puzzled by the references to common foods on DL that are asserted as unusual.
Any bakery would carry these, even in ‘nurica. Even the faux french chain ones. Wouldn’t the F&M or Harrod’s have these, too?
My village baker had them and they’re a happy memory but like a baguette- it should be easily found.
