I read this harrowing essay from a man who went in for a routine colonscopy--something like this happened--the outpatient center he was in stitched him up badly. Then he was in the hospital for some stupid amount of time (months), they had to remove a section of his colon, went septic almost died. Now all fucked up. This was a healthy man.

It's not something I'd joke about. I've always liked him, so I feel badly for him. That's a really long time to spend in hospital.
