What is it?

The movie trailer is strange and somewhat off-putting. I really don't think Blake Lively has the acting ability to pull off "woman of mystery."

I do. But only on the usual afternoon when I have nothing to do. Then I’ll pick up some new shirts. I’m expecting to be blown away but it’s the only film coming out that looks interesting

Have some gossip from someone who is working on this film at Lionsgate. Apparently both Anna and Blake are being ginormous bitches while promoting this movie.

Blake Lively was at an event and dropped her coffee and made a comment like, “Sucks for whoever has to clean that up. And good luck to whoever has to get me more coffee because the Starbucks line is really long, but I need my coffee.” She also backed out of filming a promo segment for Refinery 29 at the very last minute after the set was all ready to go and everything. Because of her behavior, Refinery 29 is threatening to never work with Lionsgate again.

Anna was a bit of a diva about a promotional segment too. The scripts are always preapproved by the actor’s agent, etc. beforehand, but apparently Anna didn’t like it so just straight up physically tore up the script and said she wasn’t doing it.

Getting them to do anything together is a bit of a nightmare because apparently there are some bad feelings between the two of them. This might have something to do with the fact that Blake has head billing, yet Anna is in the movie more, but my source wasn’t quite sure as to why.

The movie has gotten good reviews.

by Anonymousreply 9September 14, 2018 11:34 PM

Is it a Strangers On A Train rip-off?

by Anonymousreply 10September 14, 2018 11:53 PM

I wouldn't pay a fortune to see it in a theater. Maybe when it's available to stream on Amazon or Netflix.

by Anonymousreply 11September 14, 2018 11:55 PM

is this a bi-curious Gone Girl? And why Blake Lively keeps that whart on her face?

by Anonymousreply 12September 15, 2018 12:46 AM

I saw it tonight. Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively playing off each other reminded me so much of Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn in Death Becomes Her.

by Anonymousreply 13September 23, 2018 4:26 AM

I listened to audio version of the book on Scribd a few months back. I saw the movie yesterday and it wasn't all that bad. The ending was changed for the movie.

by Anonymousreply 14September 23, 2018 4:43 AM

Kendrick should insist upon never being shot in profile.

by Anonymousreply 15September 23, 2018 4:47 AM

Wasn’t that interested in this - but have seen most nearly everything else on that I was intested in -

Listened to a film review podcast the other day - and the two presenter queens loved it! Think it mainly had to do with lively’s Wardrobe - as apparently she just looks faaaaabulous throughout - and they felt that was justification alone for seeing it.

Isn't that Broadway guy who looks sort of Asian and that DL hates in the movie?

by Anonymousreply 17September 23, 2018 6:03 AM

Lively was actually pretty good and has great timing. This might have been her best performance.

by Anonymousreply 18September 23, 2018 6:06 AM

R17 Wrong guy. This is who is in the movie, the hot as shit Henry Golding.

r19, wrong photo, wrong guy, there's no one in that picture who is hot at all.

by Anonymousreply 20September 23, 2018 6:15 AM

Neat! You've served a great purpose in this thread. Tell the class what else you'd like to contribute.

I saw it tonight in Hollywood Archlight. Pretty full and everyone was laughing at Anna K's weirdness and dork attitude and nerdy mom style.

Blake Lively, on the other hand, was HOT.

I can't understand how Ryan Reynolds ended up with her, and furthermore, why Ben Affleck just used her up and tossed her away after The Town.

Not true. Kendrick has top billing in the movie.

by Anonymousreply 23September 29, 2018 2:16 AM

Everything about that gossip sounds weirdly off.

I guess the refinery29 thing could be true.

by Anonymousreply 24September 29, 2018 2:43 AM

The movie sucked. Blake was horrible.

by Anonymousreply 25September 29, 2018 2:48 AM

why is blake lively dressed like cab calloway in the movie?

by Anonymousreply 26September 29, 2018 2:51 AM

R24 I promise you I heard it from someone who works at Lionsgate. I admit that I probably didn’t get the quotes down word-for-word, but the content was what I was told. The convo I had with my friend lasted awhile so there were lots of details and backstory I left out so that’s on me; I was in a hurry so just typed up the major highlights.

I’m going out to LA next week to visit my friend in person so I’ll report back if there’s anything good!

by Anonymousreply 27September 29, 2018 3:45 AM

Just saw the movie and enjoyed it. The final showdown is hilarious.

by Anonymousreply 28December 9, 2018 8:37 PM

It's like a more comedic and less pretentious "Gone Girl."

by Anonymousreply 29December 25, 2018 9:30 PM

Saw it and liked it overall. Kendrick's vlog mommy persona, and the film's skewering of asshole parents and their playground cliques was well done. Lively was tall and monotone. Not much there for the overwhelming majority of the time she was on-screen, but she wasn't overtly offputting.

by Anonymousreply 30December 25, 2018 9:49 PM

R14 what was the original ending?

by Anonymousreply 31December 26, 2018 4:28 AM
The movie trailer is strange and somewhat off-putting. I really don't think Blake Lively has the acting ability to pull off "woman of mystery."

I just finished watching it. Lively was quite good (prior to this, I had seen her only in THE TOWN, and I have zero recall of her performance in that). And yes, her wardrobe was its own character.
Isn't that Broadway guy who looks sort of Asian and that DL hates in the movie?
[R17] Wrong guy. This is who is in the movie, the hot as shit Henry Golding.

R17 was likely referring to Andrew Rannells, who [italic]was[/italic] in the movie.
It's like a more comedic and less pretentious "Gone Girl."

I can see this comparison. While it was fun, it became rather outlandish, which was not at all what I had anticipated. They turned the source material (a taut thriller, per my read of the book description) into a quasi-comedy.
