She has several issues going against her, especially at her age: 1) She is tanning, and most likely tanned when younger. I think she can be attractive in a quirky off-beat kind of way much of the time. For some reason, she looks like Mr Potato Head in OP's pic. But everyone can look bad in photos from unflattering lighting, angles that accentuate less than perfect features, etc. All you bitches need to settle down a bit.

There are a multitude of sins in op’s pic, but one thing she could do is stop with the heavy eyeliner/mascara on her lower eyelids. There is a pic in the group at r192 that illustrates how much better she looks without it. It accentuates her beady little eyes, which in turn, accentuates her over large nose (which I don’t think she’s had fixed). But I am at a loss regarding that get-up for daytime. That shows a lack of taste and awareness that is probably unfixable.

I’ve always been curious as to why SATC never did very well in syndication? It seemed so flash-in-the-pan. It was huge when it was on the air. However, after it came to an end it seemed to fall of the cultural radar.

I never could stand the show, but it’s kind of surprising how much it’s been forgotten.

I thought it actually did do well in syndication. Not Seinfeld or Big Bang Theory, but decent for an HBO show It was on TNT or TBS for years.

She’s always struck me as a Barbra Streisand type (although if possible she’s even worse looking). They both have this voracious need to deny reality and have themselves seen as beautiful. I think she’s very narcissistic and self centred deep down and it shows in the way she comes across.

She’s always been unattractive even when she was young. However, during her younger years she tried to sell herself as this bombshell with a “hot bod” which was laughable. I also never understood why she was given so much power while starring in SATC. The show was an ensemble and the other actresses brought as much to the table as she did if not more so.

She was average looking when young. Thin with good hair and an ok face. Her nose wasn't nearly as prominent as a teen. It wasn't small but it dominate her face as much. That might be why she didn't get it fixed back then, when she had the chance. She was relatable, when she wasn't being cast as a sex goddess. She was relatable in the early seasons of SATC when she was insecure and worried she wasn't hot enough for Big, who had dated models. Then they made her the irresistible center of attraction.

The whole photo is tragic beyond all sense, but satin and a bustier in the morning? It disgusts me.

My favourite scene in SATC was when Charlotte tells Carrie she has a perfect body in a steam room where Charlotte won’t go naked and SJP does the FAKEST “who-me?” line delivery saying “ohmygod”. It makes me howl every time knowing that SJP probably seethed at the sight of Kim Catrall (an actual ex model) in a towel. She probably demanded a rewrite on the spot with that line.

No, she was always ugly. When she was younger she had some puppy fat to her face, while also learning to make the best of what she had (the ridiculous dresses and outfits didn’t come till later). However, I remember some film she did with Bruce Willis, where they tried to make her the love interest and she was just straight up fug.

All the movies she did in her early career had her in a bit part role, or as the kooky looking girlfriend. She never had the looks or talent to be a leading actress. She just got lucky with SATC. They made her the star when if it wasn’t for the contribution of the other actresses it would never have been anywhere near as successful.

I never understood why SATC did so well. However, it was hugely popular at the time and you could just see her narcissism play out on the screen as the show progressed.

R223: Kim Cattrall was probably more famous when the show first started. She’d been around since the late ‘70s and had starred in quite a few well known films. Moreover, Cattrall may have been on the B list, but so was SJP. However, unlike Parker, Cattrall was far better looking and more popular during the shows initial run.

In my opinion Kim Cattrall’s Samantha was more important to the show than Parker’s Carrie. That’s why SJP was such a bitch to her throughout the series. It was well known that Parker was only looking out for herself while the show was on the air and went out of her way to sabotage Cattrall’s character every chance she got.

She was completely insecure and when SATC became big made sure that she got the lions share of the money while forcing the writers to focus all the attention on Carrie.

The media really fed into the whole SATC craze, and someone, somewhere, somehow, decided to market SJP as a fuckable style icon. I think poor SJP actually believes all of this crap herself, and that isn’t working to her benefit as she ages.

Eye makeup for women over 50 is probably the most challenging make-up ever, if has any color in it at all. And at the beginning, she was funny and loose. When that changed, the series was destroyed.
