Love to hear your thoughts on Oklahoma City. I’ll be going there for a conference for five days. Any good restaurants or things I should check out?

Horrendous and boring, it makes Omaha feel like shangrala

Bricktown used to be OK. There is very little excitement otherwise - but it has been over a decade since I last visited. Maybe some residents can chime in here?

Deplorablia!!!!!!!!

Come down to Norman and see me!
by Anonymous | reply 10 | August 8, 2018 5:45 AM |
Maybe you and your honey lamb can sit alone and talk and watch a hawk makin' lazy circles in the sky. Because that's about the most interesting thing there is to do in OKC.

If you will be near downtown, BrickTown is the entertainment district.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | August 8, 2018 5:50 AM |
R8 they've added a ton of stuff to the downtown area, it's quite nice. Head to Bricktown, OP. Also check out the OKC museum of art, last time I went they had an amazing glass exhibit.

Oh and yeah the Habana Inn if you're looking to pick someone up. The bar there, at least.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | August 8, 2018 5:58 AM |
There's also the Oklahoma City National Memorial downtown.

Oklahoma city looks oh so pretty
by Anonymous | reply 16 | August 8, 2018 7:12 AM |
In Oklahoma City all seems to breathe freedom and peace and to make one forget the world and its sad turmoils.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | August 8, 2018 7:23 AM |
Desolate and oppressive. I felt a gnawing sense of dread for every minute that I was there. Couldn't wait to leave.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | August 8, 2018 7:29 AM |
Go to the City Hall and check out the bribery. There's envelopes of cash everywhere.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | August 8, 2018 7:43 AM |
Not sure about that (although there IS a Republican governor, so probably) but there are some oil derricks on the capitol grounds!

My advice: grab a bottle, hunker down, and pray for daylight.

This guy, Jax, is available in OKC. Just find his contact info... Expensive, but very worth it.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | August 8, 2018 3:41 PM |
Donald Trump won every county in Oklahoma.
That tells you everything you need to know.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | August 8, 2018 3:53 PM |
R23 is right. Withhold your money while you're there, OP. Don't help them.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | August 8, 2018 3:55 PM |
Right wing assholes in Oklahoma.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | August 8, 2018 4:00 PM |
Is Shirley Jones around? She was in Oklahoma.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | August 8, 2018 4:03 PM |
Y'all mosey on over to Pawhuska to visit Ladd and Cowboy Josh!

Go to the Skirvin downtown and have a martini. It's the closest they come to urban-fancy. The Habana is a scream. And there are a few gay bars nearby that aren't terrible. Tho the last time I was there, they were all a flutter that Juju Bee was coming to do a show in three months.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | August 8, 2018 7:08 PM |
Jax at R22 is like $400/hr... at least.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | August 8, 2018 7:13 PM |
It sounds like hell on Earth.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | August 8, 2018 7:35 PM |
All that silly glass. Dale Chihuly is a hack. All those art spots and not a goddamned one worth visiting.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | August 8, 2018 7:56 PM |
All the places I used to go as a kid have closed, even the Charcoal Oven. But at least you can get a Hideaway Pizza in OKC now.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | August 8, 2018 8:12 PM |
It's windy, barren and they have earthquakes now.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | August 8, 2018 8:18 PM |
There is a good McDonalds downtown.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | August 8, 2018 8:24 PM |
You should go to Kansas Cty. Everything is up to date there.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | August 8, 2018 8:38 PM |
OKC has a scary ghetto jesus
by Anonymous | reply 37 | August 9, 2018 4:21 AM |
Is the ghetto Jesus a gang member?
