Oklahoma City

Love to hear your thoughts on Oklahoma City. I’ll be going there for a conference for five days. Any good restaurants or things I should check out?

Horrendous and boring, it makes Omaha feel like shangrala

Be sure to check out the Old Paris Flea Market!

Bricktown used to be OK. There is very little excitement otherwise - but it has been over a decade since I last visited. Maybe some residents can chime in here?

Deplorablia!!!!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 9August 8, 2018 5:45 AM

Come down to Norman and see me!

by Anonymousreply 10August 8, 2018 5:45 AM

Maybe you and your honey lamb can sit alone and talk and watch a hawk makin' lazy circles in the sky. Because that's about the most interesting thing there is to do in OKC.

by Anonymousreply 11August 8, 2018 5:47 AM

If you will be near downtown, BrickTown is the entertainment district.

by Anonymousreply 12August 8, 2018 5:50 AM

R8 they've added a ton of stuff to the downtown area, it's quite nice. Head to Bricktown, OP. Also check out the OKC museum of art, last time I went they had an amazing glass exhibit.

by Anonymousreply 13August 8, 2018 5:57 AM

Oh and yeah the Habana Inn if you're looking to pick someone up. The bar there, at least.

by Anonymousreply 14August 8, 2018 5:58 AM

There's also the Oklahoma City National Memorial downtown.

Oklahoma city looks oh so pretty

by Anonymousreply 16August 8, 2018 7:12 AM

In Oklahoma City all seems to breathe freedom and peace and to make one forget the world and its sad turmoils.

by Anonymousreply 17August 8, 2018 7:23 AM

Desolate and oppressive. I felt a gnawing sense of dread for every minute that I was there. Couldn't wait to leave.

by Anonymousreply 18August 8, 2018 7:29 AM

Go to the City Hall and check out the bribery. There's envelopes of cash everywhere.

by Anonymousreply 19August 8, 2018 7:43 AM

Not sure about that (although there IS a Republican governor, so probably) but there are some oil derricks on the capitol grounds!

by Anonymousreply 20August 8, 2018 3:34 PM

My advice: grab a bottle, hunker down, and pray for daylight.

by Anonymousreply 21August 8, 2018 3:39 PM

This guy, Jax, is available in OKC. Just find his contact info... Expensive, but very worth it.

Donald Trump won every county in Oklahoma.

That tells you everything you need to know.

R23 is right. Withhold your money while you're there, OP. Don't help them.

by Anonymousreply 24August 8, 2018 3:55 PM

Right wing assholes in Oklahoma.

by Anonymousreply 25August 8, 2018 4:00 PM

Is Shirley Jones around? She was in Oklahoma.

by Anonymousreply 26August 8, 2018 4:03 PM

Y'all mosey on over to Pawhuska to visit Ladd and Cowboy Josh!

by Anonymousreply 27August 8, 2018 6:58 PM

Go to the Skirvin downtown and have a martini. It's the closest they come to urban-fancy. The Habana is a scream. And there are a few gay bars nearby that aren't terrible. Tho the last time I was there, they were all a flutter that Juju Bee was coming to do a show in three months.

by Anonymousreply 28August 8, 2018 7:08 PM

Jax at R22 is like $400/hr... at least.

by Anonymousreply 29August 8, 2018 7:13 PM

It sounds like hell on Earth.

Leo's bar-b-q is delicious

All that silly glass. Dale Chihuly is a hack. All those art spots and not a goddamned one worth visiting.

by Anonymousreply 32August 8, 2018 7:56 PM

All the places I used to go as a kid have closed, even the Charcoal Oven. But at least you can get a Hideaway Pizza in OKC now.

by Anonymousreply 33August 8, 2018 8:12 PM

It's windy, barren and they have earthquakes now.

by Anonymousreply 34August 8, 2018 8:18 PM

There is a good McDonalds downtown.

by Anonymousreply 35August 8, 2018 8:24 PM

You should go to Kansas Cty. Everything is up to date there.

by Anonymousreply 36August 8, 2018 8:38 PM

OKC has a scary ghetto jesus

by Anonymousreply 37August 9, 2018 4:21 AM

Is the ghetto Jesus a gang member?
