Every Time Dick Van Dyke Came Home

I always worried he'd trip over the ottoman and hurt himself badly this time.

by Anonymousreply 34July 29, 2018 6:25 AM

Mary!

If Chevy Chase had only seen those episodes, he would not have back problems from his untrained pratfalls as Gerald Ford in his Saturday Night Live days, says Dick Van Dyke.

by Anonymousreply 2July 14, 2018 4:34 PM

Buck would have never fallen over the ottoman.

by Anonymousreply 3July 14, 2018 4:37 PM

He was kinda hot in those days. Well fitted suits. Well groomed. His nose should be on that other thread about masculine noses

by Anonymousreply 4July 14, 2018 4:38 PM

I might be mistaken, but I remember reading that DvD did end up with back problems from doing this.

by Anonymousreply 5July 14, 2018 4:44 PM

Is there a Sons Much Hotter than Their Dads thread, r4?

Imagine coming home and sitting in your living room are the two people you just spent 8 hours with? I'd be upset.

by Anonymousreply 7July 14, 2018 4:50 PM

He is not hotter. They are a completely different kinds of pulchritude. This guy should be on a horse smoking a Marlboro in jeans and a plaid shirt. DvD was a total metrosexual--beautiful suits, beautiful figure, beautiful hair, plus a great personality.

I'm a lesbo, but I have to admit that DvD was one of the most beautiful men I've ever seen.

As a child I was terribly traumatized by Laura's eyes in the back of her head.

Does anybody know what The Broadway Gold Rush Twins' book was about?

R10 I remember that clever photo. They both looked pretty amazing for their ages at that time, even with that lighting and retouching. They were hot shits to pose like this at their ages, too. It’s pretty cool.

by Anonymousreply 12July 14, 2018 6:15 PM

r1

I think you mean laura

by Anonymousreply 13July 14, 2018 6:29 PM

R13, no, I meant Mary.

OP used the actor’s name, not the character’s.

And Laura was traumatized by what that week's guest star had left on the glass coffee table.

R18, touche. Geez, MTM was given a lot of garbage.

R20, but you know the flappers were having more fun than anyone in capri pants.

And they also lost their mind when cousins were two of a kind.

Remember when he navigated past the ottoman only to trip on the car

You do realize he didn't recreate it for each episode, right?

by Anonymousreply 28July 28, 2018 9:28 PM

Was it a stunt double then? How did they find someone who looked just like Dick?

by Anonymousreply 29July 28, 2018 9:37 PM

I worry about Dick. I think about Dick a lot. I hold onto Dick as much as I can.

I love you, R29!

r31 If the animators took that much trouble to animate the scene they might have taken two seconds to get the kitchen layout right.

by Anonymousreply 33July 29, 2018 6:11 AM

OP deserves an award Fucking love you, man!
