Tonight I'm going to see Diana Ross in concert.

Jealous, bitches?

by Anonymousreply 67June 20, 2018 2:32 AM

Good luck, darling

Oh yeah. If it were 1985.

by Anonymousreply 2June 16, 2018 8:16 PM

Prepare for a lot of long costume changes and very little singing.

by Anonymousreply 3June 16, 2018 8:19 PM

Op, you're that guy who posted about buying 10-20 dollar seats to has-been acts many nights a week through the entire summer, right? I thought it sounds gruelling to endure but whatever floats your boat. Now you are going to post the same new thread every day for each new concert. Ok then.

by Anonymousreply 4June 16, 2018 8:24 PM

Hopefully she'll be like this tonight. FAB! Wait for it @ 3:11.

Yep.

Saw her 5 years ago and she was incredible. I’ve seen everyone in concert, and I wasn’t expecting much from Diana Ross. I was wrong. So better than I expected. Up close she is a stunning woman, a true star — she knew the audience wanted to see her, so walked to the end of stage several times in her fabulous costumes and just radiate glamour. The audience loved it and kinda freaked out.

Miss Ross sounded as she did 30 years ago. I remember vividly during Upside Down she broke into free-style dance (reminded me of Prince 15 years ago on stage during When Doves Cry. Bitch can move. Audience on their feet the entire time. A real thrill.

by Anonymousreply 6June 16, 2018 8:25 PM
Miss Ross sounded as she did 30 years ago.

Well, when you haven't had a hit since then...

by Anonymousreply 7June 16, 2018 8:29 PM

She's worth it, and dishes it out with a concise, if canned, set. No costume changes. Curious why she works so hard. At this point she's playing Indian casinos. I imagine she got a decent settlement from the last husband and at one time had a $20 million contract with RCA.

by Anonymousreply 8June 16, 2018 8:31 PM
Op, you're that guy who posted about buying 10-20 dollar seats to has-been acts many nights a week through the entire summer, right?

Correct! So far those $20.00 all in zero fee concert ticket have been absolutely worth it! Kesha and Macklemore were fucking amazing! Last night at the Chicago and Reo Speedwagon concert Chicago played the entire Chicago 2 album from start to fishing. I was GREAT! $20.00 total for each concert? Bargain!!!

by Anonymousreply 9June 16, 2018 8:32 PM

Oh, fuck that stuck-up bitch. Instead, come see me perform. I'll sing all of your favorite Supremes hits, plus a few favorite songs of my own, for one-third of the ticket price you'd pay to see ol' cunt Diane.

You betcha!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 11June 16, 2018 8:33 PM

She's nuts and a pain-in-the-ass diva, but when she sings "The Boss" it's all worth it.

by Anonymousreply 12June 16, 2018 8:38 PM

I saw Ross last summer in NYC.

Fucking incredible! She sang the roof off that place.

by Anonymousreply 13June 16, 2018 9:19 PM

She apparently enjoys singing to a loyal fanbase still willing to pay decent money to see her. I'm sure it also makes her feel young and relevant. Unlike Martha Reeves, Diana still has a good singing voice.

She must be pushing 80 now....find it difficult to believe she can still sing.

by Anonymousreply 15June 16, 2018 9:22 PM

I'm 74. Old bat Mary is pushing 80.

by Anonymousreply 16June 16, 2018 9:47 PM

Interesting how records don’t reflect her real voice. Her voice seems so thin on recordings. It’s actually full and resonant live. A real voice

by Anonymousreply 17June 16, 2018 10:26 PM

Gurl, you better go to your local dollar store and pick up some Diamond Diana toilet water on clearance before you go. You know that hussy has to get that stuff of shelves.

Her minions will not let you in the show if they don't smell it on you!

I already did that in 1984.

by Anonymousreply 28June 16, 2018 11:14 PM

We saw here live at the Providence Performing Arts Center a couple years ago. The crowd - saw a number of oxygen tanks being dragged behind people. Was good to see her before she dies but the crowd - I fully expected a medical emergency during that concert.

by Anonymousreply 29June 16, 2018 11:26 PM

Great night! She was in good voice but not great. She sang Amazing Grace but forgot some of the words. Yikes!

She played a lot of covers and LSTB songs. That was great. Only played Upside Down but not The Boss. The only downer. I'm not sure if the crowd loved it because there were unusual songs choices. I personally love that.

by Anonymousreply 30June 17, 2018 6:31 AM

Of all the "Jealous, bitches?" posts, I'm going to say it. Just. This. Once.

Yes, Bitch. I am.

by Anonymousreply 31June 17, 2018 8:28 AM

It's on YouTube, OP! She sounds amazing.
She sang Amazing Grace but forgot some of the words. Yikes!

I don't know if she forgot the words at first, or started singing too soon. But she played it off splendidly. I'm amazed by how clear and strong her voice still is. In fact, I like her more than ever. She seems to have greatly matured as a person, and it shows through her voice and body language.

by Anonymousreply 33June 17, 2018 2:31 PM
I'll sing all of your favorite Supremes hits

Oh please, Ms. Mary Wilson - you mean [bold]if[/bold] you remember the lyrics.

I saw her at King's Blues Club in NY last year & the audience had to help her with half the songs.

by Anonymousreply 34June 17, 2018 2:37 PM

Sounds like a very old granny in church. Not amazing. Not entertaining. But not embarrassing.

by Anonymousreply 35June 17, 2018 2:41 PM

I saw Diana in concert a couple of years ago. I was surprised how well her voice has held up. And she clearly is an entertainer still.

I saw that video at R25 of Mary Wilson. That was hard to watch.

Diana's having the time of her life. I love watching clips of her recent concerts. Her joy is genuine and contagious. I think at this point in her life, she has no more fucks to give. It's now all about having a good time with her family, friends, and fans.

by Anonymousreply 44June 17, 2018 5:26 PM

I looked at the video at R41. It's of her performance two nights ago. I CANNOT BELIEVE that she is 74 years old.

by Anonymousreply 45June 17, 2018 5:28 PM

r45, it was last night? do you live outside the us?

by Anonymousreply 46June 17, 2018 5:30 PM

Yes, sorry R46. I understand your point.

by Anonymousreply 47June 17, 2018 5:34 PM

She was magnificent at the Hollywood Bowl last night. She looks fantastic and sounded great. She sang songs she hasn't performed for years.

by Anonymousreply 48June 17, 2018 5:37 PM

where were you sitting r48?

by Anonymousreply 49June 17, 2018 5:38 PM

The set list from last night.

He Lives in You

More Today Than Yesterday (Spiral Starecase cover)

You Can't Hurry Love (The Supremes song)

If We Hold on Together

Chain Reaction

It's My Turn

It's My House

Touch Me in the Morning

Amazing Grace

My Man (Fanny Brice cover)

The Man I Love (George Gershwin cover)

Home (Stephanie Mills cover)

Upside Down

Theme From Mahogany (Do You Know Where You're Going To)

Ain't No Mountain High Enough (Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell cover

by Anonymousreply 50June 17, 2018 8:21 PM

You Can't Hurry Love. Only one Supreme's song? Not enough. And no "The Boss?" Disappointing.

by Anonymousreply 51June 17, 2018 9:46 PM

In Upside Down, where are the back up singers?

by Anonymousreply 52June 17, 2018 10:10 PM

I’d only see her today if there was a time machine. Everything comes and goes. She’s a grandmother and her daughter is an Emmy winning sitcom star.

Her history and age negates her original persona. Most people I know get over doing a desk job by 62. What is the need to trot out with 80s big hair, 90s gowns and 60s songs in your 70s?

Imagine your grandmother showing up for Thanksgiving dinner wearing an exploding hair wig, push up bra under a low cut beaded gown singing pass me some stuffing.

Is it not ridiculous?

"Ain't No Mountain High Enough (Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell cover)"

Cover? Bitch, puhleaze. I made that song a number one with a bullet classic. Marvin and Tammy only charted to #19.

by Anonymousreply 55June 17, 2018 10:38 PM

3 singers? OK but I never see them in any shots. That was truly a bewildering mixture of backup singers and tracking and live.

by Anonymousreply 56June 17, 2018 10:39 PM
Marvin and Tammy only charted to #19.

Oh, dear. Someone who only cares about where a song charts? You clearly know nothing about music.

by Anonymousreply 57June 17, 2018 11:09 PM
3 singers? OK but I never see them in any shots. That was truly a bewildering mixture of backup singers and tracking and live.

Yes. They were in one of the back lines on the right side {their left.} Why is it odd? She normally has four back up singers. Last night was with the LA Phil.

by Anonymousreply 58June 17, 2018 11:12 PM
What is the need to trot out with 80s big hair, 90s gowns and 60s songs in your 70s?

R53 She still wants to perform, and people still want to see her. So, it’s a win-win situation for her and them. If you don't want to see her, then stay your ass home. In fact, she would tell you that herself. She's having a good time, and so are her fans.
Imagine your grandmother showing up for Thanksgiving dinner wearing an exploding hair wig, push up bra under a low cut beaded gown singing pass me some stuffing.

Diana is not looking ridiculous like that, and you know it. And if she wanted to, then that would be her damn business to do so. Same thing regarding our grandmothers, too.

by Anonymousreply 59June 17, 2018 11:13 PM

R57 should not be here. She's way too literal and simple minded.

by Anonymousreply 60June 17, 2018 11:18 PM

Wow, what a negative person R53 is. Can’t imagine wanting to be around such a harsh, judgmental, myopic person. Imagine him at parties.

The lady looks good for her age. Her voice is good. And the audience paid to be there and seemed to be having fun.

by Anonymousreply 61June 17, 2018 11:36 PM

No, I’m not jealous. But it’s fun and harmless, so enjoy your evening op.

I love this clip of Diana putting people like R53 in their place.
