Netflix: The Five
Has anyone seen "The Five" on Netflix? I just binge-watched it this weekend not knowing anything about it. Highly recommended.
The Five is a British crime drama TV series which was shown on Sky1 in the UK in 2016.
Plot: In 1995, 4 young school friends (Mark, Danny, Slade & Pru) are left traumatized after Mark's five-year-old brother, Jesse, disappears after playing in the park with them. No trace of Jesse has even been found. Serial killer Jakob Marosi, who has been charged with five other murders, claimed that he killed Jesse. Jesse's parents had given up all hope of ever finding the boy alive.
Twenty years on, Danny is a Detective Sergeant working for Westbridge Police. When he attends the scene of a murder, he finds prostitute Annie Green, who has been brutally attacked with a hammer. A forensic analysis of DNA evidence from the crime scene provides a match for Jesse's DNA. An intricate web of trials and tribulations begins to unfold as the four childhood friends reunite in the hope of finding Jesse alive.

They stretched this out a bit long. There are some red herrings in the plot.

Just finished watching it.
It was really good. Very well written. And I didn't guess the big reveal in the second episode.

SPOILERS:
I enjoyed it but there seems to be two glaring plot holes.
1. The child killer would not have told the police that the man who took Jesse was "his father." By that time, he would have learned from the publicity that that man was not Jesse's father (as far as everyone was concerned). Even Jesse's purported dad said he became notorious after Jesse was taken. The killer would have no reason to believe the stranger who claimed to be Jesse's dad.
2. Jesse was at the police party against drunk driving at the same time Jesse was putting out a campfire in the woods, leading to Mark chasing him and then calling all the police at the party to look for Jesse.

R15, I had the same observations. It's been a long time since I've seen this series. But, let me put in my 2 cents.
1. I thought the killer was still keen on playing games. So, he was not really a reliable witness and source. He would say anything to continue torturing his victims' families. He derived pleasure in that. Up to the last minute, he kept on saying he killed Jesse until he was proven wrong.
2. I think it was shown in the movie that Jesse left the party early with his backpack and headed for the woods. So it was possible if the party went on for hours.

This was a waste of however many hours (too many!) that I spent binge-watching this last year. While it held my attention and I fell in love with Tom C and O-T, the resolve and ending were filled with more holes than a shanty Irish lace curtain.
