R92, it could be because there are a lot of complications to that type of surgery. I read a horrible thread somewhere once that was all about side effects of the surgery. One person had some sort of infection at the surgical site and nearly died. Their heart stopped and they had to be recessitated. They ended up losing weight because after that I think they had to have their whole stomach removed and eat from a feeding tube. Then there were cases of people whose stitches or staples didn’t hold, they got staph infections and the like. Some lost massive amounts of weight in a short time from hemorrhaging and really serious complications. That’s very dangerous for your heart.

My guess is this woman is so heavy she can’t undergo anesthesia. Her heart would stop. No doctor is going to risk it if that is the case. The only solution for her would be to go into the hospital or some fat farm for severely obese people and probably go on a feeding tube. She would have to quit her show and she’s not going to do that, who else would hire her at that weight? No corporation or large company would take her because of the the liability, even if she were a lawyer. No profession would take her. If she were self employed as a consultant of some kind, she would have to visit clients probably, and how does she drive? Even a specially outfitted car at her weight must be difficult to drive. It’s probably much more of an ordeal for her to travel than she’s willing to admit. She’s probably afraid to tell people for fear she will be fired. She’s at a real risk of leg clots if she’s flying and driving for hours to events. I wonder if a doctor would even willingly clear her to fly.

But God, damn they get their lives back and they vow to never go back.

I bet when she joined the show, she agreed to lose weight and they would write it in. The insurance company probably insisted that she was uninsurable without doing something about her weight.

She probably didn’t bother to research it, just figured, I’ll have my stomach stapled and no problem, the pounds will fall off. Then the insurance company for the show probably made her visit their doctor and he said, you’re too fat to have anesthesia, your heart will fail.

So then she thought, yay! I don’t have to lose any weight after all! I have a doctor’s note that says I can’t have my stomach stapled, so they can’t make me. I’ll just eat whatever I want without a care in the world! Because it’s obvious she has no discipline.

Anybody with that much weight to lose and money to burn does it under the care of a doctor. And she’s not willing to starve herself, obviously, which is pretty much the only safe way at her weight. She can’t jog, do aerobics or anything that will burn fat. The only thing she can do is quit eating. And she’s gained weight since she started the show.

She’s probably helping herself to the catered food on the show and making no effort to eat better. People that gain around the waist are eating high carb foods. I had an aunt who was consistently around two hundred and fifty to about three hundred pounds for years. Blew out her hips and knees and could hardly walk. Was always huffing and puffing. Eventually she had to have a ramp put in front of her one story house, because she couldn’t climb the three stairs into the house. And she quit visiting her brother because all his bedrooms were upstairs. She was diabetic and I think they thought it was too dangerous for her to have the hip and knee replacement surgery. She was in horrible pain all the time and ended up pretty much confined to bed.

I called her shortly before she died. She was gasping for breath and had these horrible, wet, loose coughs. Sounded like she was drowning. Which she was. Congestive heart failure.

There’s a difference between “a few extra pounds,” maybe 5-30 pounds overweight, and this. This is not something you can diet off by skipping dessert.

This woman has to be having very serious health problems, to the point that I don’t know how she can hide her health or mobility issues from her employers.
