VERY preliminary, OP. Just get a wig.

Meh. I love not having to shampoo, condition and style anymore let alone go to a barber.

No wonder they're testing it in the UK specifically.
The Duke of Cambridge (Prince William) must be bankrolling it.

News like this comes out all the time because the research institutions need the funding and hype the shit out of their findings so it gets the media's attention. We'll have to wait years and years before anything comes out of this, if at all.

[quote] has potential to aid hair growth.
Propecia/finasteride has the "potential" to aid hair growth in lots of people. For some people, it may work well, but for most, you get little regrowth and then it may stop further loss, at least for a time. Some people get very disappointed when their front hairline continues to recede (slowly) over time, even with the drug.
So Propecia helps, but not in the way people would characterize as a cure for baldness. This new drug could work in the same half-assed fashion. Be hopeful, but expect something less than an amazing cure.

Believe me, all of that bullshit about “sexy bald men” will go right out the window once it’s cured.

I guess Yul was the only one to get away with it. But I bet he still would have preferred to have a full head of hair.
Even Astaire and Gershwin with all their talent would have given anything to have their hair back.
Yes 'sexy bald men' is bullshit. My father had hair all his life but started losing it because of chemo. The man was dying of cancer and at the age of 80 he was upset about losing his hair.

You should really read the article; it is short. They are not using CyclosporineA. They specifically rejected that drug in favor of another with significantly fewer side effects.
[quote] This drug, Cyclosporine A (CsA), has been commonly used since the 1980s to suppress transplant rejection and autoimmune diseases. The project team discovered that CsA restricts a protein that when otherwise left alone, slows the growth of hair follicles. Hair growth, however, is the least problematic side-effect of CsA,[bold] leading project leader, Nathan Hawkshaw, to look for another solution.[/bold]
[quote][bold] After some research, he discovered that a separate compound developed to tackle osteoporosis also suppressed the bald-causing protein in the same manner. Better yet, scientists believe this drug, titled "WAY-316606," can be administered without dramatic side-effects.[/bold]

Wait- so is this the same medicine in Restasis or not? Because my dad has that dry eyes shit and unfortunately, has been going to the barber getting the same 8 hairs on his head styled in a comb-over for the past - five years of use.
