Who the hell is Trish Van Devere?
by Anonymous | reply 54 | August 15, 2020 10:33 PM |
She is an actress who was married to George C. Scott. This is really bizarre!
by Anonymous | reply 1 | April 29, 2018 11:22 PM |
Geez, and I thought George was nuts.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | April 29, 2018 11:27 PM |
She was a decent actress, but didn't really do a lot of work. This is a very strange story.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | April 29, 2018 11:29 PM |
Here's the court documents, why isn't this getting more press?
by Anonymous | reply 4 | April 29, 2018 11:33 PM |
Please tell me it wasn't the lovely Lainie Kazan!
by Anonymous | reply 5 | April 29, 2018 11:34 PM |
Trish is a gay icon. She think she was nominated for an Oscar for either "The Hearse" or "The Changeling."
by Anonymous | reply 6 | April 29, 2018 11:36 PM |
^ well, she is now.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | April 29, 2018 11:38 PM |
Wow, like Rick James, minus the burning with a crack pipe. Wonder what was done with the videos, was it a ring? Would be my guess given how little publicity this is getting.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | April 29, 2018 11:39 PM |
I had no idea she was still alive. For some reason I thought she had died even before George C. I guess that was just her career.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | April 29, 2018 11:39 PM |
Google brings up only 2 articles from last June, how did you stumble across this OP?
by Anonymous | reply 10 | April 29, 2018 11:39 PM |
If only we had a poll... is her lawyer Avenati or the tedious Gloria Allred?
by Anonymous | reply 11 | April 29, 2018 11:40 PM |
I had a friend who always referred to her as Tush van Derrière.

The Michael Bennett thread made me curious about his work on YouTube. Trish Van Devere presented the Best Musical Award to Bennett at the 1976 Tony Awards, Didn't know who she was, googled her name and Voila!
by Anonymous | reply 13 | April 29, 2018 11:44 PM |
The Hearse is actually one of the best horror films ever made.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | April 29, 2018 11:46 PM |
Sex cults and now this. It’s starting to look like actors are flat out weird people.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | April 29, 2018 11:47 PM |
She was the original Meredith Lord on One Life To Live in the late 1960s. (Meredith was Viki's younger sister and, at the time, her only sibling -- she would acquire four more over the years through retcons.) We should merge this with the "Llanfair vs. Cortlandt Manor" thread.

The sex slave was for her son who she adopted when she was in her 50s, I bet she was fucking him too.

Which is why I so curious as to why she would be chosen to Present the Best Musical Award at the Tonys. She is not Mary Martin!
My only guess is that George C, Scott told the Tony Producers he would boycott the show if his wife didn't present a prestigious award,

If it got no press, it was probably determined that the charges had no merit and the story was a non-starter. Curious that neither Trish nor the son had representation, though. I can only guess that the girl was so obviously loony they figured they didn't need any. Even if they were flat broke, they could at least ask for a court appointed attorney if one was necessary.

I always thought she was Campbell Scott's mother, but I was wrong. The timing isn't even close.

Poor Trish played George Segal's long suffering girlfriend in the cult classic "Where's Poppa" but achieved some notoriety when she was in "the Savage is Loose" with Scott and John David Carson. They played a family stranded on an island and the son starts having sexual feelings towards his mom. He plots to kill dad so he can fuck mom. I seem to remember it ended with the son almost killing dad but mom stepping in and gives him a very unmotherly kiss. The end.

Colleen Dewhurst is his mother
by Anonymous | reply 24 | April 30, 2018 12:07 AM |
Poor Campbell Scott. His mother Colleen Dewhurst had treatable cervical cancer but her Christian Science beliefs caused her to refuse treatment. Scott begged her to get it but she refused. Fucking religion.

Trish was hot back in her day. As the bisexual murderess she was one of my favorites on Columbo. I always felt her character was the only one who would get away with it at trial.
If she ever did have a sex-slave she earned it. George C Scott loved to beat his woman.

Season Hubley said on Skip E. Lowe’s cable show that he was delightful on set of Hardcore.

"If she ever did have a sex-slave she earned it."
Aw, good for her. God bless.

I know, R24 and R25. I said I knew I was wrong.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | April 30, 2018 12:50 AM |
"One Is a Lonely Number", about young widowhood, was one of her early films.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | April 30, 2018 12:56 AM |
If this story is true, they would have been arrested for kidnapping amongst other charges.....I call BS....
by Anonymous | reply 32 | April 30, 2018 1:31 AM |
Fa loves Ma!
by Anonymous | reply 33 | April 30, 2018 1:35 AM |
She had the reputation of bringing women home ages ago, but this?
by Anonymous | reply 34 | April 30, 2018 1:53 AM |
She deserved an Oscar nomination for her performance in the horror film "The Changeling."

"Starting to"? Snort.

R28, in case DL'ers are uninformed, Skip E. Lowe was the original basis for Martin Short's Jiminy Glick. The original name was Skip E. High but when SEL objected, he created Glick, who has the same weird non-sequiturs that Lowe did.

He looks like a creep, R38. How old is he? How old was he when he was adopted?
Weird story.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | April 30, 2018 3:46 AM |
I believe the boy is actually Trish's nephew, the son of her brother. When her brother died, Trish and George C. adopted him. Trish's original name was Dressel. I think she's from old money--the horsey set back east.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | April 30, 2018 4:14 AM |
R21, That's Ruth Springford as Minnie Huxley from The Changeling.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | June 3, 2018 3:13 AM |
Did Scott's marriage to Colleen Dewhurst break up because he fell for Trish Van Devere, or did the marriage end for some other reason(s)?
by Anonymous | reply 42 | June 3, 2018 3:36 AM |
Didn't she play Slee's sister on OLTL?
by Anonymous | reply 43 | June 3, 2018 3:36 AM |
Guess she did think that One Was The Loneliest Number.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | June 3, 2018 3:38 AM |
r42 Scott first left Dewhurst for Ava Gardner. They divorced then remarried. Then he left her again, for Van Devere this time. He was an alcoholic who tried AA, but continued to drink: there are reports that he beat both Gardner and Dewhurst.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | June 3, 2018 3:55 AM |
Thanks, R42. He sounds like an unreliable husband, at least in his youth & middle-age.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | June 3, 2018 4:25 AM |
I loved her in The Hearse.

by Anonymous | reply 49 | August 15, 2020 8:41 PM |

Any word from her equally improbably named brother Whip Hubley?
by Anonymous | reply 51 | August 15, 2020 9:31 PM |
The article tells you who Trish Van Devere Scott is, derpstain.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | August 15, 2020 10:23 PM |
Wow, major meth vibes on the son. That explains a lot.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | August 15, 2020 10:26 PM |
Wait a minute....Campbell Scott is the son of George C Scott and Colleen Dewhust??? I had no idea.
