Why don't the rich LA eldergays all move in and convert it to an unofficial retirement home? Liza, Joan, Cher and Faye all live (or lived) in the building. The balconies are perfect for a morning croissant and decaf, bridge club in the afternoon and a whiskey sour to watch the sunset. Just heaven.
Make that a whiskey sour at sunrise, doll face.

LA earthquakes are terrifying. No way.

Joan’s taste is awful. But then so is she!
by Anonymous | reply 9 | April 12, 2018 12:21 PM |
That is some bad motherfucking taste.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | April 12, 2018 12:26 PM |
I had a friend who lived there. Very NYC apt luxury feeling when you drive up with valets, doormen etc, but his apartment was just a normal little crackerbox apartment with really nice views and a lot of mirrors.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | April 12, 2018 12:36 PM |
WHy does Op's link sat Doheny Drive - when google maps say Doheny Road?
It looks beautiful from the street.
and I love the little building next door...very old Hollywood.

Is this where Candy Spelling houses her staff?
by Anonymous | reply 16 | April 12, 2018 12:45 PM |
Dear God! The balcony's are narrow. Joan's apartment is quite a decent space inside, but she has managed to combine all the truly awful styles from each decade. I bet all the "marble" fittings are just painted MDF too.

Most DLers wouldn’t fit through the sliding doors never mind onto the balcony!

What the fuck's a crackerbox apartment?
I love it - but I don't understand it.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | April 12, 2018 1:31 PM |
Wonderful views though, from her apartment and sky.
LA can "look" so wonderful.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | April 12, 2018 1:33 PM |
Joan's style was Ming Deco. Also living in a 'cracker box' should be comprehensible to all--- with the exception of the Darfur Orphan who has never seen a cracker, much less its box.

by Anonymous | reply 26 | April 12, 2018 1:43 PM |
I had my feet in the air and my asshole stuffed in that apartment.
[quote]Why don't the rich LA eldergays all move in and convert it to an unofficial retirement home?
Don't be silly OP, most rich people in LA live in mansions not apartments.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | April 12, 2018 1:44 PM |
This is a proper LA home for the rich and gay.

by Anonymous | reply 33 | April 12, 2018 1:52 PM |
$58m to live there? To share a pool? At least the balcony is large enough to accommodate the hefty gentleman.

There is no pool.

The air quality of the higher floor flats must be horrific, given the extent of LA's smog, which must block the view much of the year.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | April 12, 2018 1:54 PM |
Ughh 58 mil ? How grotesque. There are better more modern buildings in LA.

DL ICON Lindsay Lohan had a 3 bedroom pad there before she ruined her career. I recall she paid less than a million. Prices have gotten way out of hand.

an interior designer friend of mine told me it's quite popular with LA's gay designer community. But this was years ago, now it is probably too expensive now for your average designer.

by Anonymous | reply 62 | April 12, 2018 9:34 PM |
R61 it’s too expensive for just about everyone. I know it’s LA but $5m for a 1 bed?
by Anonymous | reply 63 | April 12, 2018 9:55 PM |
A 1 bed when it was built cost roughly $70,000. Adjusted for inflation that’s around $450,000 today. So these places have outpaced inflation by more than 10x.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | April 12, 2018 10:36 PM |
$5 mil for a one-bedroom in LA is ridiculous, who would pay that when you could get a much bigger place for the same amount?

by Anonymous | reply 68 | April 13, 2018 3:15 AM |
Way to expensive for what you're getting. I'll take a mansion in Calabasas instead. $5.5 million dollars for a one bedroom? They've lost their damn minds.
They can have that.
