I have combination skin, oily t zone and dry everywhere else. When I wear any type of moisturizer my skin looks oily all over. What products would you recommend?
Which skincare line is better, Estee Lauder or Clinique?

i don't use Estee. Only Clinique. I like several of their products.

Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel is good. Oil free.

Vichy normaderm is good for oily skin.

They’re owned by the same company

Easter Lauder owns Aerin Beauty, Bobbi Brown, Clinique, Flirt!, M.A.C., Prescriptives, Smashbox, Tom Ford and Tory Burch.

And Easter Lauder also owns Estée Lauder

Clinique made my face explode and I’m not alone. Look up their products. Thousands of complaints

OP honey, don’t give your money to either of these corporate sleazes.
Get some local cloudy honey & some rose water (which you must then dilute with filtered water and decant into a spray bottle), to use as a cleanser/exfoliant (hot cloth method) & toner respectively once a day. This alone should shrink your pores, soften & brighten your skin and reduce any redness as well as sluice off that oil.
Et voilá! Healthy skin for you, and a better life for the bees & roses where you are.

r9 I've been using Thayer's witch hazel the past couple of days. It has rose flower water in it. What brand of rose water would you recommend? What should I use as a moisturizer?

There is no cookie cutter approach to skincare. We all have different types of skin. I've tried everything and the only one I love is Skinceuticals.

Haul your ass down to Aldi or Dollar Tree -- where DL shops!

Agree w r9. Use all natural stuff. Honey & oatmeal scrub. Rose water toner, lemon juice exfoliant and oil cleanse. There are websites where you can go to find recipes.

I have the same skin type as you, OP. After trying loads of things and having horrible cystic acne intermittently for years, I've found the less I mess with my skin, the better behaved it is. I use gentle face wash, or glycerin soap - it has never irritated my skin, ymmv. No scrubs or acids, except Retin-A maybe once a week, less in the winter. I've found Aveeno products moisturise my dry facial skin without clogging pores in the oily areas. They can feel heavy in the summer, though.
I know Cerave and the like are frequently recommended, I found they'd make me break out. Not sure why.
I'm in my 30s, for reference.

Your diet and water intake have a lot to do with your skin care as well

I use Clinique products. I love them and I have combo type skin. I like the mild liquid cleanser and dramatically different moisturizing gel. the 7 day scrub is nice too.

Ivory Soap and Oil of Olay is all you need !!!!

R11 Agreed.
Their Gentle Cleanser, Emollience and Blemish+Age defense have changed my skin for the better.
Hydrating B5 Gel has also worked wonders on dry skin.
Recently they changed their packaging; hoping the formulations have remained the same.

Same company, same garbage.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | September 11, 2018 2:17 PM |
Olay is just as good.

I was under the impression that Clinique dramatically different didn't have any anti-aging properties.

OP does your city have a Korean store? Try some of their skincare, I use both Lauder and Clinique and find some of their products okay but the Korean products have a serious edge in that they use more impressive ingredients and are often more natural. I really like moderately priced and non scented Atopalm lotion which performs like a professional product (some compare to La Mer or Chanel), the tiniest little drop is all that's needed to keep skin dewy and soft all day.

What exactly is a Korean store? Like a market? Or a beauty store?
by Anonymous | reply 28 | September 11, 2018 3:09 PM |
^ If you live in an area with a Koreatown (or an area with a highly Korean-concentrated population), visit their version of a drugstore to find various facial care products. Additionally, Korean-based skincare has become so popular that brick & mortar stores specifically carrying these lines are popping up in regular malls.
