Yes, I know this is Datalounge, and we are only ever interested in discussing the potential gayness of hot, young 20ish studs, but somebody told me this and it always stuck with me. I was struck by how matter-of-fact this person made this statement, and believe me, this person has no reason or desire for this to be true if it wasn't.
He's married to a woman, no?

I see it, too. Even though he’s not flamboyant, he’s always pinged to me.

He's gay. Like Karl Malden and Raymond Burr nobody really cares.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | March 28, 2018 11:33 PM |
Real World: He's been married to a woman since 1989 - so it's extremely unlikely. Why?
Gay World: he’s always pinged to me. He's gay.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | March 28, 2018 11:37 PM |
The best I've seen him look lately was in Atomic Blonde where, for a change, he didn't play a working class guy or a looser, but a high ranking CIA agent.
I have no idea if he's gay.

Quite a few years back, I knew an ex-girlfriend of his that he was dating at the time. She was younger and very attractive. She never indicated anything that he was gay.

Gay and very much a bitchy queen. I saw him queen out and bitch about not being bumped to first class on a flight from LAX to Detroit. He booked coach expecting to be bumped up because he was a celebrity but FC was full. I had upgraded with miles weeks ago. I was behind him waiting for FC checking and heard him say "can't you just bump one of these nobodies for me?" The lady at check in thought he was kidding and laughed..he was not kidding. He stepped aside to check me in and I handed her my id and said: "just us nobodies checking in." He shot me a look and rolled his eyes like GURRRRL.

This is what I've learned about John Goodman from Datalounge. I haven't the foggiest notion if any of this is true.
1. Years ago, on Oscar night, Goodman showed up at The Abbey, higher than a Georgia pine.
2. Goodman & wife live separate lives.
3. He has a long-time boyfriend, a comedian from New Orleans who appeared on "Roseanne", he also has/had younger" pieces"on the side.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | March 29, 2018 12:22 AM |

I’ve seen him a bunch of times at an eye doctor’s office outside New Orleans. He blended in with the other older, overweight men...if I hadn’t heard and recognized his voice, I wouldn’t have even noticed him.

I'm a nobody who got bumped from first class by a celebrity in the 1980s.
I had been upgraded and was in my seat when, just before take-off, I was 'un-upgraded' because the passenger who had booked the seat initially finally showed up.
It was pre-coming-out George Takei.

Very few people knew that Daniel J. Travvanti, Raymond Burr, Robert Reed, Dick Sargent, Richard Chamberlain and Earl Holliman were gay. It's surprising the number of iconic TV roles were played by gay men and the general public had no idea.

Not that being married to a person of the opposite sex means anything on DL, but James Avery was married.
On December 31, 2013, Avery died aged 68, from complications following open heart surgery at Glendale Memorial Medical Center. He was survived by his mother, Florence Avery (1924–2016), as well as his wife and stepson.
Are you confusing James Avery with the actor who played Geoffrey the butler, Joseph Marcell? I always got a gay vibe from him.

No R62, it was James Avery who I have heard about over the years, more than a few times. I can't vouch for any proof other than I've heard that from more than a few sources, and like John Goodman, I don't think there is anybody trying to claim him because he was some hot hunk.

When I was a pretty cute 20something I would PA on films. Jon Polito started openly flirting at the craft service table the moment he met me. On another film I was around Goodman a lot and he never gave off any kind of gay vibe, much less tell me I was cute. But maybe I just wasn't his type.

R93 The one thing people in the entertainment industry don’t do is ‘out’. Doing so is a failure on so many levels, most notably the fact it just isn’t cool to insult someone by saying they are gay.
The major aspect people don’t see, is there are so many out gay people behind the scenes in the entertainment industry. In Hollywood people tend to know the score that if an actor is gay or bisexual it’s the norm to be kept secret.

He was great in Normal, Ohio. He was the lead playing an openly gay guy who had to move back to Ohio from LA.
[quote]The show was most notable for the divisions it exposed regarding American culture's view of homosexuality. Gamble was an average blue collar bear-type gay man, with many traits typical of American masculinity, including a love of football and beer, and very few of the traits stereotypically associated with gay men, and yet his sexuality itself was signified in part by isolated moments of more stereotypically gay behavior, such as singing snippets of Broadway show tunes and helping his sister to color her hair, that were seemingly at odds with the way his character was presented most of the time. As a result, some media outlets dismissed Goodman's role as unrealistic
