‘American Horror Story’ Season 8: Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters & Kathy Bates Are Back

Ryan Murphy has revealed that Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters and Kathy Bates are returning for American Horror Story season 8, which may be titled Radioactive.
Bates was unavailable for last season’s American Horror Story: Cult because she was in production on her Netflix series Disjointed. With that comedy series not returning, it frees the Misery Oscar-winning actress up for AHS.
“Kathy and Sarah Paulson have a lot of great stuff to get to do,” Murphy told EW exclusively today. “So, with Evan Peters, the three of them are the leads this year.”
Bates appeared in the American Horror Story seasons Coven, Freak Show, Hotel, and Roanoke. She won one of her two Primetime Emmys for playing Madame Delphine LaLaurie in AHS season 3 Coven.

I’m glad they’re bringing Bates back, but it all comes down to the concept and execution. “Roanoke” had a lot of great actors like Bates, Bassett and O’Hare, but was terrible. “Cult” had major roles for Billy Eichner, Chaz Bono and the chick who played Mary Cherry on “Popular,” yet was better than the show has been in a long time.

Sarah Paulson is over-rated. The problem I had with the last season is because it didn't have any movie stars in it like seasons past (Jessica Lange, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates). When your biggest "star" is the dull as dishwater Sarah Paulson, you're in trouble. So relieved to see Kathy is back. And I've met Joan Collins and adored her so am happy to see she's been added to the cast too. I think her show The Royals with Elizabeth Hurley is getting the ax. Anjelica Huston joining as rumored would be amazing. Her brother Danny has been in a couple of seasons already.

R15 Based on Lady Gaga's Netflix documentary, she didn't seem to enjoy her time on the show despite the raves she gave after completing her first season and winning awards and attention for it.

I gave up, completely after the third episode last year. I can't understand the work Sarah Paulson gets. And poor Kathy Bates seems to take any job offered. Good for her. I guess.
LOVE Evan Peters. but this show has run it's course. It was all downhill after Coven.

It had better be better than that abortion of a last season. One of the worst seasons ever broadcast. So disappointing after so much great seasons.

Last season was a chore to sit through, not only because of my being burned out by the political dialogue, but also because Evan, Adina Porter, Billie Lourd, Allison Pill, Billy Eichner, Colton Haynes, Cheyenne, etc., are all so uninteresting to me. Sarah used to be interesting, but all that whining last season made her insufferable. Lange, Bates, Bassett, Frances Conroy, Denis O'Hare, Lily Rabe, on the other hand, when they are onscreen, you just can't take your eyes off them. They are personalities, the others are nonentities.

Yeah I didn't like "Freakshow", but Lange still made it compelling enough to watch. The series does miss her presence.
