When they were young: Actress Irene Ryan
Yes, that's the actress who would later go on to portray family matriarch, "Granny," on the 'Beverly Hillbillies.'
Before the series, Ryan was a successful film and radio personality, who appeared alongside Bob Hope during his USO tours and later shared the Broadway stage with Ben Vereen in 'Pippin."

I'm pretty sure that's Irene Dunne, not Irene Ryan.

Sorry I misidentified Ryan, but she still was a looker back in the day, no?

I so agree; "fresh-faced" doesn't seem to be an ideal anymore. She looks really kind.

Pity she died without penning her memoirs. Seems like she really lived. Was she in the same circles as George Burns & Gracie Allen?
