21 year old Japanese actor and model what does data lounge think?
Cute looks a little like Leonardo dicaprio
by Anonymous | reply 1 | March 6, 2018 3:31 PM |
He’s quite feline 😺
by Anonymous | reply 2 | March 6, 2018 3:42 PM |
Is he some sort of living manga engineered by Japanese scientists?
by Anonymous | reply 4 | March 6, 2018 3:47 PM |
R4 how çan you say that? He’s like adorable!
by Anonymous | reply 5 | March 6, 2018 4:02 PM |
I say neither cute nor ugly. Just kind of "blah". (He looks very effeminate in that photo, which is a turn-off to me.)
by Anonymous | reply 6 | March 6, 2018 4:03 PM |
You never mentioned he was Haafu, OP. Not that it really matters at all, he just doesn’t look it.
He went to Beverly Hills High though, so he probably has acquired a dreadful American accent. Shame.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | March 6, 2018 4:10 PM |
He also played a Kamen Rider named “Dark Drive”.
You’re nobody in the world of popular Japanese entertainers/actors until you’ve played a Rider.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | March 6, 2018 4:14 PM |
Looks a bit like Tom Daley in OP's photo.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | March 6, 2018 4:29 PM |
Better looking than than rat faced Timonty Chamalalat.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | March 6, 2018 4:34 PM |
He’ll be in that Pacific Rim sequel that comes out in two weeks. Boring hetero movie, but a good payday.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | March 6, 2018 4:41 PM |
R9, that's just what I thought.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | March 6, 2018 5:07 PM |
....does it make me a racist if I think he looks fuckable with a tan and dyed blond but not in the OP’s pic?
I do find some Japanese men goodlooking or sexy with their natural darker skin & hair. Just not this one.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | March 6, 2018 5:07 PM |
I think it just works with his skin tone honesty R14
by Anonymous | reply 15 | March 6, 2018 5:22 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 20 | March 6, 2018 6:41 PM |
He could do an all male revival of "Flower Drum Song" or "The World of Suzy Wong." I definitely see him in a Nancy Kwan role.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | March 6, 2018 6:45 PM |
Yaasss
by Anonymous | reply 22 | March 6, 2018 7:03 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 23 | March 6, 2018 7:06 PM |
If he’s bilingual and already in the American film industry with connections (Sonny Chiba) he’ll get plenty of work with little effort. Probably no leading roles though, unless he gets more rugged or goes indie.
I’m at little alarmed at the fervour here; he is 21, true, but looks around 16 which is far too young for the DL-contingent. At present he is sweet-looking in the way that young girls can be, with fresh porcelain skin and big pretty eyes. I agree with R4 that he looks a little like an anime character in the blush of his youth, like many Japanese teens & college kids do before life and ageing weathers their fine features.
It remains to be seen if mackenyu’s boyish dewy prettiness will mature into a sexy or interesting appearance, as it seems to have with the older model pictured in R3 who has both a sultry modish look and a tallness that is very unusual in Japanese man.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | March 6, 2018 7:09 PM |
I’m curious if he’s gay or not...?
by Anonymous | reply 26 | March 6, 2018 7:12 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 27 | March 6, 2018 7:24 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 29 | March 6, 2018 9:35 PM |
He’s ugly sorry
by Anonymous | reply 30 | March 7, 2018 11:00 AM |
I would pound his face. And then pound his ass.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | March 7, 2018 11:42 AM |
With the lighter hair he could have made an excellent Saeki Kojirou in the ‘Prince of Tennis’ musicals. He won’t age out of the casting bracket for another four or five years either, so there’s still time.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | March 8, 2018 3:25 PM |
Has he presented hole yet?
by Anonymous | reply 33 | March 8, 2018 3:28 PM |
R25 how do we know he’s bilingual? Or bi-anything?
OP doesn’t mention whether this kid speaks Japanese or not, and if he grew up and went to school in LA with parents who are also Haafu he may not be fully fluent.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | March 8, 2018 3:40 PM |
If he grew up in America, how did he become a Japanese star?
by Anonymous | reply 35 | March 8, 2018 3:45 PM |
I like a more masculine Japanese man. DL, it is my pleasure for you to meet Hiroshi Abe.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | March 8, 2018 5:45 PM |
I'm with R36. Love uber masculine Toshiro Mifune in his prime, too. In the pic in the red shirt he resembles the mutated MJ. In the other pics he's looks like my white baby dyke neice.

I would sell him my books if he were in my program!
by Anonymous | reply 38 | March 8, 2018 7:01 PM |
R36/R37 no-one likes masculine Japanese, don’t be ridiculous!
by Anonymous | reply 39 | March 8, 2018 10:12 PM |
Who was the hot one that was on "Girls"? He was very hot.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | March 8, 2018 10:15 PM |
Hot little dark haired twink, just the way I like em.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | March 8, 2018 11:13 PM |
My first boyfriend was Japanese-American (third generation). And before anyone asks, he was not well-endowed. Regardless, I liked him because he was cute, muscular and tall, so not a twink. There was something exotic and familiar with him. The familiar part was that he liked sex with guys. What do I think of Mackenyu? Let me put it this way, if my former boyfriend had a sister, she would look like Mackenyu.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | March 8, 2018 11:19 PM |
The one from "Girls" I like. Name is Hiro and apparently is a huge star in Japan. According to Lena anyway.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | March 8, 2018 11:24 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 45 | March 8, 2018 11:54 PM |
R46 I have a critical sleep-debt so I misread your post and thought you were talking about Aiba Hiroki, tongue-in-cheek.
Aibacchi is a lot of things but masculine is definitely not among them. His body is that of a teenage ballet-dancing girl. If there’s a Japanese gayvoice, he has it. He looks like somebody’s sister, too. Still cute, but.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | March 9, 2018 1:44 AM |
Ugh, I meant ^^ for R36 and not myself.
As I said, sleep-deprivation. She’s a bitch.

by Anonymous | reply 54 | March 10, 2018 11:06 AM |
R7 just curious where do you read that he's biracial? It doesn't say anything about him being biracial on his wiki bio, and he doesn't look like it at all
R57 if that's true, would it really be illegal? I thought Japan was one of those countries with a ridiculously low ages of consent, like 13 or 14.

Were any of my fellow Millennial posters in this thread fans of the D-BOYS growing up? I feel like they’d appeal to the OP, especially as most of them had that same delicate androgynous look that mackenyu has.
For those who care D-BOYS were an informal stable of teen/20-something actors/dancers/singers/models starting out in the ‘00s, who deliberately worked together a lot on joint projects for better exposure and for support. They also visibly hung out together and did a lot of fanservice to grab attention for projects. They took the Johnny’s boyband/pop idol model and altered it to be less creepy & exploitative, and managed themselves (with the help of Watanabe agency). They’re still active as a stable today with members currently in their mid-20s, but they have as popularity than they did 10 years ago.
It’s hard to believe the D-BOYS project is already 15 years old. I was watching them as a young teen, and they’ve all come pretty far since the start; in 2004 they were doing anime musicals for kids, singing chintzy pop for teen girls and making dumb reality shows on YouTube; now the original members are doing Shakespeare and singing opera and directing independent drama films shown in Europe. Still no breakout global megastardom yet, but it’s strong success for them all the same.
My favorite members were: ‘Shirotan’ (Shirota Yu); Kaji (Kaji Masaki, who left the group recently); ‘Arayan’ (Araki Hirofumi); ‘Zukki’ (Suzuki Hiroki); and ‘Adacchin’ aka ‘O-chan’ in his early term (Adachi Osamu, who also left in the last few years).
Their all-male ‘Merchant of Venice’ production in 2013 was the last project of theirs I saw, and it was surprisingly great.

R69 is guess average lol
by Anonymous | reply 71 | March 12, 2018 11:26 PM |
Actually R55 and R60 are tomboys or girls dressed as boys.
by Anonymous | reply 72 | March 13, 2018 2:30 AM |
Interesting that there are some high profile babydykes out of SK. Amber Liu of the girlband f(x) is another good example; she’s famous over there and stateside (she has dual nationality) and no-one seems to bat an eyelid over her acting & dressing like the world’s most obvious lesbian (she’s not officially Out but it’s hardly necessary). It seems an accepting society for gay kids.
China, Japan, Taiwan, DPRK etc. are a different story. In Japan especially the ‘Yamato Nadeshiko’ (ideal Lady) archetype is alive & kicking, and L still face discrimination, as much as the G. Chinese women are still often treated like second-class citizens or as if they are the chattel of their fathers & husbands.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | March 13, 2018 9:20 PM |
OP cute, but not beautiful like Kame.
Let us know when mackenyu walks the runway for Hermes, or is literally excluded from national beauty/popularity contests for winning too many times.
by Anonymous | reply 74 | March 15, 2018 3:15 PM |
r74, He's a hack, Patti Smith did pretty much that same concert back in the late 70's.
by Anonymous | reply 75 | March 15, 2018 3:48 PM |
Jeez, all those last picss looked like girls dressed as boys. Don't any of you like men like Byung-hun Lee? He was in the Magnificent Seven and hot. I watched some other of his movies on Netflix. That is as fem as I go.

Love him and yeah, I prefer my Asians masculine as well.
by Anonymous | reply 77 | March 15, 2018 5:29 PM |
R74 loooool Kame. I’d totally forgotten about that kid, is he even still performing?
Of course it makes sense he’d use his concert to stage some epic 10-minute poperatic number (complete with costumes and stunts/set pieces that redefine Extra) with homoerotic lyrics about being the indentured sex-servant of some daimyo; after all, wasn’t he always Johnny Kitagawa’s favorite stableboy? That whole song is pure gratuitous Diva even by Noh standards, and I love it. Gaga, eat your heart out...
I have no idea how anyone ever bought him as straight. His dancing alone screams “come get me, Daddy”.
by Anonymous | reply 78 | March 15, 2018 5:29 PM |
Cute enough but not as sexy as Yuzuru Hanyu.
by Anonymous | reply 79 | March 15, 2018 5:34 PM |
R78 haha, yeah, that Kame....rme. He’s either a big old slut or he had programming. Straight boys just don’t...do that. And yeah, he’s a good singer & dancer but you don’t get to his position on the talent ladder without incentivising your boss. He’s teased at being gay many a time too, and he’s not ever had a serious gf to my knowledge.
As for now, aren’t KAT-TUN having a comeback this year? That’s what was announced, anyway. I find it hard to imagine Jin getting over whatever mysterious beef he had with Kame (wasn’t it something to do with Jin eloping with a girl?) but perhaps it’s water under the bridge now?
Kame even mentioned adding a new member in a statement to the press which...what? I’ve never heard of a popular boyband doing that, but this is Japan and their Idols/Agencies do what they want so...
In the meantime Kame has wrapped on his stint playing the lead in that boring Fuji TV crime drama FINAL CUT (I saw the pilot, total yawnfest imo). Oh, and I think his broken finger is still healing lmao.
Those 1D fangirls from a few years back don’t know the half of it, the pain we went through as KAT-TUN fans back in the day..

Another masculine South Korean I like is Bin Won. His acting was great in Mother but he was incredibly hot in The Man From Nowhere after the character cut his hair. It's also a great action movie with a plot. He hasn't made a movie since then (2010) except for voicing some cartoon last year. He also married some model recently. Any South Koreans or people into SK movies know why he just disappeared from the screen? He got good reviews in Mother.

R24 many Japanese boys do look better blond, idk why that is. Asian hair takes dye really well. It’s a look that ages fast, though.
Murai Ryouta looks younger & hotter as a ginger/strawberry blond, but he grew his hair back in to natural black recently so he could play Matt in the Japanese RENT.
by Anonymous | reply 83 | March 16, 2018 1:52 AM |
That guy is actually cute R83!
by Anonymous | reply 84 | March 19, 2018 2:52 AM |
He is cute, R84. He can sing & dance worth a damn and has a good sense of humor, too.
He's also very gay-friendly, or at least open to gay roles; if doing RENT weren't enough, several years ago he also had a role playing Oba Nobunaga (the famous 16th C. warlord with known homosexual tendencies) in a parody to show/stageplay. He seemed to be having the time of his life in the part (he's the one dressed in the red cape & blazed) and flirted up a storm with the pretty shy kid playing Nobunaga's page Ranmaru. Their performance was surprisingly sweetly suggestive & affectionate for a Japanese comedy skit about gay men (they tend to unflattering portraits).

Mackenyu looks just like ‘00s popstar/gay icon Kotani Yoshikazu. They could easily play brothers.
Incidentally, Konii just ended an 18-month marriage to fellow popstar Risa (of Morning Musume) citing the usual tired “irreconcilable differences”. Seems like that’s a closet lie overseas as well as in the U.S.

Kid is either very lucky or very smart, not working in Asian film & television. Working in big American movie he will get Union protection as well as big checks and a lot of free time to look after himself. He will also get global exposure to a big audience.
In SK & Japan moguls in the Entertainment industry will work their horses to death. It was just four months ago that Jonghyun (lead singer of kpop group SHINee) committed suicide due to depression from overwork/exhaustion, too much pressure and possibly a forced closeting. He was just 27 years old and one of the most popular ‘stars’ in SK, but he’s just one of a dozen other idols in music/tv who have killed themselves likewise in the last decade.
by Anonymous | reply 93 | April 3, 2018 1:13 AM |
R91 oh, Kotani is almost definitely gay. A gay-leaning bisexual who wanted to love a woman, at most.
I mean, the man left his semi-lucrative band and their groupies to accept a part in the world’s first BL movie where his role entailed getting sucked off by bisexual beauty Saito Takumi. Plus, just look at him.
In one interview he did for BOYS LOVE the movie (could have been the one I linked below? I don’t remember) he mentions having a crush on one of his co-stars in the musical PRINCE OF TENNIS from the previous year...of which the entire cast was men & boys. He doesn’t really say this in jest, either.
by Anonymous | reply 94 | April 3, 2018 4:56 PM |
PACIFIC RIM II isn’t going to do so well if Scott Eastwood keeps no-showing promo. Poor Mackenyu may not get much attention for his turn in this movie (although he doesn’t have much screentime anyway).
Oh well. On the next one, kid.
