Are they really actresses?
Isn't there also a brother? What's his deal?
by Anonymous | reply 1 | March 6, 2018 12:14 AM |
I have no idea.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | March 6, 2018 12:22 AM |
the brother actually studied to be an actor and got a MFA at NYU a really hard grad program to get into.
He then never pursued acting after that. He composes and changed his name for some reason. I wonder if he's gay. It would be a nice gesture for M to have a gay son.
The two middle girls have acted to some extent.
The youngest isn't interested in acting.

Do they have teeth ?
by Anonymous | reply 4 | March 6, 2018 12:27 AM |
I saw something online back in the fall that Grace Gummer is dating Tay Strathairn, the son of actor David who starred with Streep in River Wild. Don’t know if they’re still an item.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | March 6, 2018 12:32 AM |
R1, the brother is hot. (I think, but I’m not as picky as you guys.)
by Anonymous | reply 7 | March 6, 2018 1:50 AM |
What kind of guy is Don, Meryl's first gummer?
by Anonymous | reply 8 | March 6, 2018 1:51 AM |
r5, a friend of mine described David Strathairn's last name as being the sensation of having a hair stuck on your tongue.
I dare say I think Mamie may have had her beak sanded down a bit. Did Henry graduate from the MFA program? It's funny that the most photogenic of the daughters doesn't want to be in front of a camera.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | March 6, 2018 1:59 AM |
[R3] The youngest, Louisa, is studying at Yale School of Drama right now! She was working in advertising and 'modeling' and then decided to be an actress I guess lol
by Anonymous | reply 10 | August 17, 2018 4:15 AM |
None of them will ever win an Oscar like Mommy.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | August 17, 2018 4:18 AM |
link r10? How do you know?
Meryl always used to joke that she was the regular one who had a nine to five job.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | August 17, 2018 4:24 AM |
Grace was in that try hard Amazon show "Good Girls Revolt." She played Nora Ephron whose character was written out of the show almost immediately.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | August 17, 2018 4:26 AM |
If you Google the brother's name you'll find a staff photo from when he taught music at Clemente Charter School. I don't believe he works there anymore.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | August 17, 2018 4:29 AM |
Grace was dating Billy Crudup for a while. I'm guessing it didn't end well.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | August 17, 2018 4:29 AM |
Sort of odd how Meryl knows how to get her kids jobs and into prestigious colleges yet never heard a word about Weinstein.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | August 17, 2018 4:31 AM |
I saw the son in a play in a small theater in LA many years ago.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | August 17, 2018 5:26 PM |
R3 Really hard to get into...except when you're mum is an Oscar winner.

They sho' is ugly.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | August 17, 2018 5:33 PM |
They all look good.
Henry Wolfe studied acting but was too intimidated to do anything about it. He says he is a musician but he lives off a trust on LA.
Grace is actually a good actress.
Mamie has been given a million chances and never breaks through.
Louisa is the cutest and I hope she does something with her Yale degree.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | August 17, 2018 5:38 PM |
Good lord, Henry Gummer is ugly. He also looks like he lost his hair and pulled an Elton John.

by Anonymous | reply 23 | August 17, 2018 5:48 PM |
Henry Gummer's song was used on the soundtrack to Julie and Julia. I thought it was pretty good.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | August 17, 2018 5:50 PM |
You don't need to be Meryl Streep to get your children in a fancy acting school all you need to be is rich. You pay money. They take money. Anyone can you. It's that simple. Works fine.
Oh, and before anyone says another word about the girls, Google Bette Midler's daughter -- if you dare.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | August 17, 2018 5:50 PM |
Henry Wolfe is definitely a Streep-Gummer child. He has both his parents' facial features.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | August 17, 2018 5:53 PM |
Does photo show a peek of hair on his chest? Yum!
by Anonymous | reply 28 | August 17, 2018 5:56 PM |
No Mr. Robot fans? Grace plays a CIA agent and she's damn good. She was one of the best things about the show this past season.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | August 17, 2018 5:57 PM |
Mamie , after a year-plus engagement, married Ben Walker (Bloody, Bloody Andrew Jackson)in 2011. In 2013, they announced they had separated and were to divorce.

[quote]You don't need to be Meryl Streep to get your children in a fancy acting school all you need to be is rich. You pay money. They take money. Anyone can you. It's that simple. Works fine.
Not true actually. Most of the top acting schools are heavily endowed and not looking for money. NYU is a very expensive program but you can't buy your way in. Even if your Daddy pays for a new building they just don't need that. Ditto Yale. Having said that it most definitely helps to be the progeny of a certain kind of famous person.
Meryl's kids are advanced to home plate simply because people are facinated by the legend of Meryl Streep (Eg: the greatest living actress rep] but more importantly, the idea that your organization could possibly entice Meryl into some association wiht your school or organization by employing or admiting one of her kids, is the real driving force.
Every non profit major theater in NYC went out of their way to cast Meryl's daughters in roles they would never even been able to get an audition for, simply because the long game of maybe, just maybe, getting Meryl on one of their stages in the future.
Grace is actually ok, but she probably wouldn't have an agent, let alone work, if she weren't Meryl's kid. That's just the way the business works btw, producers are always trying to get accesss to stars to attach to projects for ego an financial concerns. If they have to hire a so so talented kid of a major class A star like Meryl, they'd do it in a heartbeat. Not that this works often, but its worth a shot. I say this with no disdain, its just a fact.
Years ago the top acting schools used to have centralized auditions in NYC, SF and Chicago. There were about 7 schools, Yale, Julliard, NYU, Temple MFA, San Diego a few others. On average each school had between 800 and 1000 applicants at least for 12 slots. I can tell you for a fact they turned away then and still turn away rich students in favor of a poor talented student. However, if you are the son or daughter of someone like Meryl Streep they look for ways to justify accepting you. Its an ego thing, its a human thing, its good PR.. Maybe Meryl will come see a play her daughter is in at Yale and like it and like the director and maybe want to help the person who cast her kid..etc.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | August 17, 2018 6:09 PM |
I am jealous they all have trust funds and never have to work.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | August 17, 2018 6:28 PM |
Henry Wolfe is a musician. I enjoyed his song used in the Julia and Julia soundtrack, "Don't Stop The Train".
When I first heard it, I thought it was old Kinks song I'd never heard. It was really good!
The song has a 1960s Kinks vibe and he even sounds a bit like Ray Davies.

Shitty pic link, OP. You need to check it before you post.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | August 20, 2018 10:58 AM |
I think Grace is quite good in Mr Robot. I feel sorry for her to be honest. Middle kid. Henry the only boy and adored, Mamie the eldest daughter and named after generations of women in the family, Louisa the baby of the family. Wasn't there an interview with Meryl and she remembered the ages of all the kids except Grace. I think Grace seems the quiet one, left behind.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | September 4, 2018 8:55 AM |
Isn’t Grace closeted Lez? She should just come out. Interesting that none of them are married or has produced or adopted a child. This is also true of Demi Moore’s kids?
by Anonymous | reply 36 | September 5, 2018 3:44 AM |
I think Grace was dating some keyboardist who looked like he need a bath. Just come out and date women, you might be happier Grace.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | September 5, 2018 4:07 AM |
Fought it all day, but finally googled Better Midler’s daughter. She reminds me so much of so many Jewish women I know in NYC. She’s not prettt, but she looks lively and warm, and I bet she’s fun to hang out with.

^^ Bette
My apologies on behalf of autocorrect..
by Anonymous | reply 39 | September 5, 2018 4:18 AM |
Bette's daughter seems really nice. I am sure it must be daunting to have such famous parents and try to work in the same profession. Also, Grace, its time to walk out of that closet as it looks like you really enjoyed kissing women on that Mr Robot show.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | September 5, 2018 4:41 AM |
Do you even think Meryl just questions wtf when the girls bring home these guys?
by Anonymous | reply 41 | September 5, 2018 6:12 AM |
Grace was dating Billy Crudup for a while. I'm sure he was quite nice to her.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | September 5, 2018 6:24 AM |
Maybe they don’t want to be married because it’s a threat to their trust fund? Might be hard to trust people.
Grace is quite beautiful. Seems normal.

they'd have Pre-nups.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | September 5, 2018 7:00 AM |
I think Meryl would make sure they had prenups. Billy Crudup looks like the really old, weird guy preying on young women.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | September 5, 2018 7:24 AM |
Who is "Jacobson"?
by Anonymous | reply 46 | September 5, 2018 8:14 AM |
R46, Jacobson is the youngest, Louisa's, middle name. Seeing the men that Grace has dated, id say try women.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | September 5, 2018 1:31 PM |
Mamie Gummer was hilarious on The Good Wife and any male child of David Straitharn must be seriously considered. Anyone remember David as the sexy Cajun in the Passion Fish movie?
by Anonymous | reply 48 | September 5, 2018 1:55 PM |
Tay Straitharn looks like he needs a good washing down, shave and haircut. He has longer hair than Grace. She looks much happier kissing women than men.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | September 5, 2018 9:49 PM |
They all - including Don -have low self-esteem since their mom is considered one of the greatest actresses who ever lived on the planet Earth.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | September 5, 2018 11:04 PM |
THE GUMMER SISTERS.............. WORK!
by Anonymous | reply 51 | September 5, 2018 11:23 PM |
R50, I can see what you are saying about the self esteem. Didn't Henry go to college and do drama and now never acts and lives a quiet life as a musician, and if you see videos of Mamie she seems quite taxed when talking about her mother and protecting here. How everyone just wants her mother and to be close to Meryl. Maybe the low self esteem is something that can be addressed, but maybe it also visible in who they date?
by Anonymous | reply 52 | September 5, 2018 11:45 PM |
Yeah - I would be more sympathetic if they did not all have major trust funds. I saw an interview with Grace where she said apeople say she looks like her mom every single day. At least she is dedicated. Henry seems to float without working much.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | September 6, 2018 12:08 AM |
Well, r53, I can see why Grace or Mamie would say they look like their mum as they do look like a younger version of Meryl. It could also be people don't know what to say and that's a safe area to start. But, id say tiring to hear. I think Henry was a music teacher as well. Yeah they have trust funds, but so do a lot of other people, but the two eldest girls seem to be working steadily as actresses, so I give them that, that they work.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | September 6, 2018 12:32 AM |
And the youngest is at Yale Drama School or may have finished? I wonder what Henry does all day.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | September 6, 2018 12:38 AM |
Is Henry any good as a musician?

Maybe he 'housesits' for his mother in one of her real estate purchases.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | September 6, 2018 3:45 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 60 | September 6, 2018 4:42 AM |
Don't give kids trust funds. At least Grace and Mamie are working, and seem to do ok as actors. But I don't know what the youngest does and Henry looks ok if he works as a teacher. Grace always looks a little sad, a little left out.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | September 6, 2018 4:55 AM |
Grace wasn't the first child she neglected.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | September 6, 2018 5:05 AM |
the youngest one had a job in fashion I think (shades of Prada)
Meryl used to joke that she was the only one who had a 9 to 5 job. But I guess she caught the acting bug now too.
I wonder why Henry stopped acting. Going thru an MFA program is a lot of work only to decide you don't want to do it.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | September 6, 2018 5:06 AM |
If I were really placed in a Sophie's Choice type situation which one should I give up? I guess Mamie would be the obvious answer.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | September 6, 2018 5:07 AM |
I think it’s funny to imagine what Henry does all day and would like to see other guesses.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | September 6, 2018 5:14 AM |
Henry to do all that work and not act, seems a bit of a waste. I don't think he is a great musician but seems to get by. Grace seems to have more acting range then Mamie. Although, Grace seems closeted to me.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | September 6, 2018 6:02 AM |
God I hope Grace is gay.
by Anonymous | reply 70 | September 6, 2018 9:26 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 71 | September 6, 2018 10:57 PM |
I wonder how Meryl will react to the Mamie's new fiancée ?
by Anonymous | reply 72 | September 8, 2018 1:51 PM |
Hasn't grace been with that tay guy a while. if you see videos of her in Venice from 2016 it looks like him. Henry looks like he likes a quiet life.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | September 9, 2018 11:33 AM |
The girls, well Grace, have talent and Henry is an ok musician. Im sure having one of the most successful actors as a parent is tough, but seriously move on and set your own path.

by Anonymous | reply 75 | September 12, 2018 12:54 AM |
They should do a reality TV show like the Kardashians. Connecticut Momager Meryl could surprise audiences by encouraging all her daughters to get Botox and booty implants. The musical brother could sing the theme song and start to gain a lot of weight. The sisters could fight and then laugh and make up. M could weep supportively when Don gets a sex change. It could be a huge hit. "Gummer vs. Gummer".
by Anonymous | reply 77 | September 12, 2018 1:24 AM |
Mamie was a lot of fun on The Good Wife and I liked her a lot in Ricki too. Haven’t been very impressed with Grace from what I’ve seen (but I don’t watch Mr. Robot).
by Anonymous | reply 78 | September 12, 2018 1:29 AM |
R78, I was impressed with Grace in Mr Robot, which is saying something as I don't like that show a whole lot. She has been good in a few things. I think she has more range than Mamie.
by Anonymous | reply 79 | September 12, 2018 6:03 AM |
I think Grace is the understated one, always just out of the limelight with the family. I think she is more quiet and reserved of the girls. Why would Henry waste those years doing drama and not act?

"The Gummer Sisters"! What a great name for a comedic porn movie!

I think there would have to be some competitiveness between the girls. They would be going for some of the same jobs as you could easily have them in a role and not know the difference between the two.

by Anonymous | reply 90 | September 22, 2018 7:05 AM |

I would HATE having a famous parent!
The trap of sloth, wastrel like lifestyles, and degeneracy is too great for young people with trust funds and few to any consequences and responsibilities. I'm a total crusty Yankee, and every bit of the progress I've made as an adult has been from making hard choices about money. Figuring out how to support myself and explore my passions and desires while not getting trapped being a wage slave hasn't always been fun, but it has been deeply satisfying.

She has sad that she worried about them entering it because she knows how tough it could be but she felt it would be hypocritical to not allow them to do it since the profession has been very good to her overall.
