Sofia Coppola Misses the Days When Women Dressed Themselves and Took Risks on the Red Carpet

Not exactly a Sofia fan but do I agree with her here. Cher in a headdress! Cybill in Reeboks! It was part of the fun watching the Oscars to see the occasional crazy outfit. Who do you think this year might shock us and wear something offbeat? Or sre those days over?

I cannot forgive this woman for single handedly ruining the fabooo Godfather III.

She's 100% right. Other than Halle Berry's dress, there isn't one single tasteful dress that has stood the test of time the last twenty years. But people remember Cher's Mohawk. They remember the Swan Dress, Kim Basinger's Glinda the Good Witch as an Alcoholic ensemble, Demi's self made gown with matching bicycle pants.

The red carpet now has all the excitement of a Greenwich Connecticut Society Gala. Boring gowns that will be forgotten a week after the ceremony ends.

Gaga in an egg.

Not terribly dressed, but I love the way Ann Margret looks in this clip. How she works the sweeping fabric.

Todays gowns are just so ordinary and lack true pizazz for the most part.

In a way Joan Rivers killed that sort of thing. People didn't like the ridicule.

The Oscars are just boring in general. Nobody takes risks. It's all about PR and award schmoozing.
