What is the deal with Oprah and Weight Watchers?
I remember when she first lost weight in the late 80s on that liquid diet, she looked great, but once she went off that liquid diet, she put the weight back on, and then some.
Skip ahead to the early nineties, and she lost the weight again, except in a healthier way when she was working out with that hunky Bob Greene.
Now, after all these years, she's just as heavy as she was when her talk show first started, but last year she was on the cover of People magazine, bragging about losing 42 pounds, but she's still overweight.
I can understand her finally making peace with being overweight, but why in the hell is she a spokesperson for Weight Watchers when she's still fat?

Even in 2009, in the after picture, she was slimmer than she is now.

Because she owns 10% of weight watchers, OP.

I was going to say, she is a top shareholder of weight watchers.

Well, that explains it, because she sure isn't a good representation of being on Weight Watchers.

They're both scam artists... Both will cash in.. Now she has soup out?!?! Jesus Christ Oprah, deal with your shit in private... She's got serious demons, and I don't believe they can be exorcised...👹👺👹👺👹

How do you make peace with food as she states on the cover?

She makes pieces of food disappear after she chews them.

Struggling with weight is not "demons". Most people do.

She looked awful when she was skinny.

R10 she is one of the richest women on the planet, a fucking billionaire... That's with a B in case you can't comprehend... All that money and she can't "deal with" her weight?!?! She's got some demons guaranteed.. Food eases the pain.. Most people don't struggle with their weight, they're just fat and wallow and complain if anything.. There's a whole big Internet out there chock full of info. on food and how to manage your weight, stop making excuses and enabling.. Deal with your demons...

I just saw Oprah on Ellen and while she wasn't skinny, she wasn't extremely overweight like she was a few years ago. She and I are about the same age and for us "of a certain age" it isn't as easy anymore to stay trim, even when you are eating the right foods in moderation.

I understand the metabolism slows down.. Eat less, exercise more... Stop this "cheat day" shit too.. Lifestyle change doesn't allow "cheat" days.. Do you ever hear people telling a non smoker it's ok to cheat on the weekend with a few cigarettes? Can a recovering alcoholic have some gin once or twice a month?!?!?

Let me just say that even in Weight Watchers match up, I'd eat Oprah's lunch. Oh, weight!

I guess one of the biggest questions is. . . How did her boobs get so huge compared to 2009? She definitely doesn't seem like the type to get breast implants, since she doesn't seem to be into plastic surgery.

R16 I totally agree that she looks fantastic.
Unfortunately she looks nothing like Oprah.

OP's pick is from a year ago. Here she is at this year's Golden Globes. I think she looks great.

I agree she looks great. Not every woman can be a size 8. As long as she's healthy, does it matter? It's not like any of us want to fuck her.

Weight Watchers has a thing called Maintenance. Even when you reach your goal weight, you still have to go to meetings to make sure you keep it off. It's a way of life for many people.

Oprah could get that thin again, but she’d be fighting her genes tooth and nail every second of the rest of her life.
I think she’s one of those people who are meant to be a little heavy. She looks weird when she’s too thin, like Al Sharpton or Jonah Hill.
As long as she’s healthy, who cares if she’s a size 4 or size 14?

She needs a good bra; hoist those babies UP, like they were in that Golden Globes outfit.

Yeah, like Paul Newman did. You didn't see him running around selling his own soaps and sauces and frozen meals. Oh, wait...
But that's ok because he wasn't a successful overweight African American female, who are the nexus of hatred for rightwing gamer boys.

Does Oprah donate 100% of the proceeds from her new food line to charity like Paul Newman did?

It's probably genius on the part of WW and O. Every weight loss program is about the number of pounds lost per week. Someone woke up and realized that everyone who does these diets ultimately fail. So WW's becomes a brand about maintenance and self esteem, not about actually losing weight or beating obesity.
And O is the perfect face for the brand. she's been obese, thin and back again. All the while being gloriously famous and respected. They might as well have the tagline - . When You're Watching Weight You Never Lose"
