Who else loves him? I’m too ashamed to tell admit.
Look, he had his moment....get over it.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | February 25, 2018 11:38 PM |
Why the hell would you be ashamed to admit that? He’s got one of the most memorable voices in music history, on some of the best songs ever recorded. I don’t know a single person who dislikes him.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | February 25, 2018 11:38 PM |
Love him.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | February 25, 2018 11:39 PM |
I do, R3, since you bring it up, but I'm not going to stand in anyone's way about it.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | February 25, 2018 11:46 PM |
You do what, R5?
by Anonymous | reply 6 | February 25, 2018 11:47 PM |
Dislike him. His voice, I mean.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | February 25, 2018 11:48 PM |
He's amazing!!
Love him.
I keep forgetting, we're not in love anymore.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | February 25, 2018 11:50 PM |
He has an amazing voice. And I'll bet he was one hot bear roundabout 1979.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | February 25, 2018 11:51 PM |
Well then you can go fuck yourself, R7. I don’t know how the hell you can’t like his voice.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | February 25, 2018 11:52 PM |
Anyone who thinks he’s cheesy doesn’t know what the hell they’re talking about.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | February 25, 2018 11:56 PM |
Is he uncut? That's the only cheese I want from Michael.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | February 25, 2018 11:57 PM |
I hope he never had lice. Looks like it'd be a bitch to get rid of on him.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | February 26, 2018 12:28 AM |
me too, OP - one of my all-time favorite singers.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | February 26, 2018 12:34 AM |
The king of 1980s Adult Contemporary.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | February 26, 2018 12:37 AM |
He is one of a kind.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | February 26, 2018 1:07 AM |
He often sounds, as I've seen it described before, as someone singing with a mouthful of mashed potatoes. But the "musicality" more than makes up for it.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | February 26, 2018 1:10 AM |
R18, yes, he is. Thankfully.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | February 26, 2018 1:11 AM |
Excuse me, R20? What do you mean, exactly?
by Anonymous | reply 21 | February 26, 2018 1:12 AM |
Love a lot of his music. I think he got a little blah in the 80s but so did a whole lot of people in music. I liked his new single and loved that Thundercat is/was collaborating with him.
(Thundercat's video are always just bizarro, but the song is beautiful, to me.)
by Anonymous | reply 22 | February 26, 2018 1:18 AM |
Christ, getting old is a bitch, he's barely recognizable. No one has mentioned how many backing vocals he did in the 70's and 80's.; he was everywhere!
by Anonymous | reply 25 | February 26, 2018 1:23 AM |
Omg I didn’t even know he had new music. This song is great.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | February 26, 2018 1:28 AM |
R27, meet R1
by Anonymous | reply 28 | February 26, 2018 1:38 AM |
On My Own was a monster hit that made #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | February 26, 2018 1:43 AM |
God, the 70s were such a hideous decade. If Michael McDonald had been clean-shaven with short hair in r30's pic, he would've been stunning.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | February 26, 2018 1:50 AM |
I would have begged him to fuck me....and the beard and shaggy hair could stay.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | February 26, 2018 1:52 AM |
On My Own was one of the blandest, most boring songs ever recorded in human history.
By two people who weren't even in the same room when it was recorded.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | February 26, 2018 1:53 AM |
He was pure meat then. I would have fucked his fat cock right off him, that hairy fuckin' slut.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | February 26, 2018 1:54 AM |
Patti decided to turn On My Own into a duet and her first choice to sing with her was MM.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | February 26, 2018 1:57 AM |
"Middlebrow" certainly applies here.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | February 26, 2018 1:57 AM |
I've always loved his music. His voice is so unique. Probably one of my favorite male vocalists.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | February 26, 2018 2:00 AM |
I much prefer this over On My Own. It's really Aretha's song, but I like Michael's part. It's a remake of song that was featured in Baby Boom by Facts of Life guest star and Michael Jackson debut girl Siedah Garrett.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | February 26, 2018 2:03 AM |
[quote] He was pure meat then. I would have fucked his fat cock right off him, that hairy fuckin' slut.
I would have ridden him so hard all his hair would have fallen out!
by Anonymous | reply 39 | February 26, 2018 3:17 AM |
Anyone remember his guest appearance on “What’s Happenin’?”? Rerun tries to bring a cassette recorder to a concert and gets busted and Michael and the Doobies tell them it’s not cool to be a bootlegger.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | February 26, 2018 3:52 AM |
He pretty much ruined the Doobie Brothers.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | February 26, 2018 3:54 AM |
My God, a bad flashback from the 70s. He was everywhere and then, thankfully, he disappeared.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | February 26, 2018 3:58 AM |
Lol @R42 Exactly why I don’t tell people I like MM
by Anonymous | reply 43 | February 26, 2018 4:04 AM |
Didn’t he freak out when the movie 40 Year Old Virgin poked fun at him?
by Anonymous | reply 44 | February 26, 2018 4:14 AM |
Great voice, but an even better head of hair....
by Anonymous | reply 46 | February 26, 2018 5:02 AM |
His pal Kenny Loggins also enjoyed the glorious head of 70s hair.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | February 26, 2018 5:03 AM |
Hee! It took an hour... just to blow-dry it!
Good times.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | February 26, 2018 5:06 AM |
Love his voice and I'd still fuck him today.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | February 26, 2018 5:07 AM |
I was also a proud member of the 70s Pop Hair Club for Men.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | February 26, 2018 5:10 AM |
You're in company with Lisa Welechel, OP. A shameless Michael McDonald fan, back in the day she put up a poster of him in Blair's room on the Facts of Life.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | February 26, 2018 5:20 AM |
Just listened to the new single posted upthread. Man, if you thought it was "Mashed Potato Time" before, you ain't heard nothin' yet.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | February 26, 2018 5:20 AM |
[QUOTE]He pretty much ruined the Doobie Brothers.
The Doobies would’ve been extinguished if it wasn’t for him. He kept the band alive.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | February 26, 2018 10:40 AM |
He comes from somewhere back in my long-ago. 1979, IIRC.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | February 26, 2018 11:47 AM |
I can't pay much attention to a man with such a light tenor voice that he sounds like contralto female soprano.
His throat sounds so painfully strained getting into a falsetto voice that he loses most of his diction. And most of the lyrics can't be heard.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | February 26, 2018 12:27 PM |
He still has a full head of hair.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | February 26, 2018 12:49 PM |
Any shirtless pics of him "back in the day?" I want to see what he had goin' on.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | February 26, 2018 12:51 PM |
I've grown to appreciate McDonald, Kenny Loggins and Dan Fogelberg in the last few years.
Yes, they were totally overexposed and yes, some of their stuff was garbage - no one hits a home run all the time. But the interceding years has the effect of sweeping away the bad and elevating the ones worth remembering.
The Fogelberg song that has wrecked me, repeatedly, for the last few months is the one sung on his tribute album by none other than Donna Summer. A stunning song all on its own (his version is lovely as well) but to hear Donna sing it and totally own it....and then to know she did this only a few months before she died........I am a sobbing mess at the end of this song.

[quote] Any pantsless pics of him "back in the day?" I want to see what he had goin' on.
fixed
by Anonymous | reply 59 | February 26, 2018 1:42 PM |
Fogelberg and Loggins had pleasant voices and only Loggins could have been considered overexposed (the theme from Caddyshack alone). McDonald was hugely over exposed and had an unpleasant voice. No comparison.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | February 26, 2018 1:55 PM |
Uh sorry, no. McDonald had a great voice.
But his 80s solo stuff was meh at best and even the good Doobie stuff was overplayed.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | February 26, 2018 1:57 PM |
r58 that was great. Was Donna Summer already sick with cancer when she did that?
by Anonymous | reply 62 | February 26, 2018 6:23 PM |
R58 Nice track. I cried a little too.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | February 26, 2018 6:54 PM |
I’ve been listening to “Find it in Your Heart” all day. Thanks to R23.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | February 26, 2018 6:58 PM |
I’ve been listening yah mo be there
by Anonymous | reply 65 | February 26, 2018 7:02 PM |
R62 I believe she may have been. Which just makes it all the more of a poignant song....and a triumph: that voice was amazing, even 30+ years after her heyday.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | February 26, 2018 7:31 PM |
[quote] Christ, getting old is a bitch, he's barely recognizable.
McDonald still looks a bit like himself.
Loggins has done the Kenny Rogers Special and looks like he assumed a new host body.
by Anonymous | reply 68 | February 26, 2018 7:33 PM |
R40 Yesssss. And that episode kinda proved The Doobies had street cred.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | February 26, 2018 7:49 PM |
How could they not, with a name like The Doobie Brothers?
by Anonymous | reply 70 | February 26, 2018 7:55 PM |
His dick is so enormous he must carry it around in a wheelbarrow
by Anonymous | reply 72 | February 26, 2018 9:02 PM |
My favourite male singer ever. And I would have banged him for days.
by Anonymous | reply 74 | February 26, 2018 10:47 PM |
fuckin hot daddy bear!
by Anonymous | reply 75 | February 26, 2018 11:15 PM |
R72 How do you know this?
by Anonymous | reply 76 | February 26, 2018 11:24 PM |
Love his work, solo and with Steely Dan and Doobie Brothers.
He sang back up for Christopher Cross' Run Like the Wind.
by Anonymous | reply 77 | February 26, 2018 11:41 PM |
Forget him, THIS is the only Michael McDonald worth discussing!
by Anonymous | reply 78 | February 26, 2018 11:52 PM |
Bump
by Anonymous | reply 79 | February 27, 2018 4:22 PM |
No bump.
by Anonymous | reply 80 | February 27, 2018 8:47 PM |
by Anonymous | reply 81 | February 27, 2018 9:46 PM |
R81 meet R23, where we discussed this a few days ago.....
by Anonymous | reply 82 | February 27, 2018 9:49 PM |
I also like him OP, but his voice is mostly gone now. Here his is on Harry Connick, and it was sad to see how little he has left of his beautiful voice.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | February 27, 2018 10:48 PM |
R83 lived across the street from the Larson's briefly.
by Anonymous | reply 85 | February 27, 2018 10:52 PM |
Arguably the best backup singer ever. His only peer is Merry Clayton.
by Anonymous | reply 86 | February 27, 2018 11:06 PM |
Love him.
by Anonymous | reply 87 | February 27, 2018 11:40 PM |
His version of "Stop, Look, Listen" with Toni Braxton is beautiful. It is on one of his Motown albums.
by Anonymous | reply 88 | March 18, 2018 1:58 PM |
Love him. He also had one of the most solid careers in the business.
