Sigh................
BREAKING: Unredacted Memo Released
by Anonymous | reply 121 | February 3, 2018 2:28 AM |
Rachel did a segment on this yesterday. Linked below.
Essentially, Nunes wants to make a big deal about the 3rd or 4th time a FISA warrant was renewed for Carter Page, known doofus and likely Russian spy. This is so damn dumb, and in a just world this would only bring more attention to Carter Page and his work with Russia and the Trump campaign, but I have no doubt the media will fall for it and call for Rosenstein's head asap.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | February 2, 2018 5:10 PM |
The origins are unimportant and I don't think that Steele "was desperate" for Trump not to be elected. I'm not sure why Trumptards keep slogging away at the origins. All campaigns gather info about their opponents and this dossier was started by another Republican.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | February 2, 2018 5:10 PM |
Has it been released or not?
by Anonymous | reply 4 | February 2, 2018 5:11 PM |
Well, who wouldn't believe the Washington Examiner's completely unbiased and agenda-less take on it?
by Anonymous | reply 5 | February 2, 2018 5:11 PM |
[quote]Has it been released or not?
Only via right-wing outlets thus far. The media isn't falling for it. Chuck Todd (of all people) has called this the worst execution that he has ever seen. Trump has spoken and really had nothing to say; "It's terrible. There's terrible things happening in our country", etc
by Anonymous | reply 6 | February 2, 2018 5:14 PM |
Republicans have committed treason
by Anonymous | reply 7 | February 2, 2018 5:16 PM |
Of course it went to righ wing media first"...they are the only ones who aren't going to question shit and will treat it like it's the end all and be all.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | February 2, 2018 5:17 PM |
please tell me it lands in a whimper and no one notices.
What a waste of 2 weeks.

These stupid lacquered women on Fox are unbelievable. John Roberts who used to be on CBS - how did he end up at Fox??? I thought he was the heir apparent at one point. Of course they have the memo text EXCLUSIVELY. Sickening. I fucking hate Republicans.

by Anonymous | reply 11 | February 2, 2018 5:20 PM |
Well they don’t call the President the most powerful man in the world for nothing. If you take him on, this is what you have to deal with.
I hope Bob Mueller is prepared and his investigation will continue unimpeded.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | February 2, 2018 5:22 PM |
I missed this whole thing. It seems like there’s always some new controversy every week in Washington since Cheeto was elected.
Can someone give me the cliff notes, please?

by Anonymous | reply 14 | February 2, 2018 5:23 PM |
Releasing the memo is yet ANOTHER attempt to interfere with the Russia investigation.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | February 2, 2018 5:25 PM |
[quote]Well, who wouldn't believe the Washington Examiner's completely unbiased and agenda-less take on it?
Do you think the Examiner is inaccurately summing up the slant that Republicans have taken?
by Anonymous | reply 16 | February 2, 2018 5:25 PM |
This won't change a thing. Most people aren't interested in the details.
Everyone is locked into loving or hating Trump. Hopefully Nunes had a good Dem challenger in November.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | February 2, 2018 5:27 PM |
Matthew Yglesias @mattyglesias
It’s literally just a memo about Carter Page with nothing to do with the whole meat of the investigation.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | February 2, 2018 5:28 PM |
Chris Hayes @chrislhayes
The memo reminds of a million different smoking gun Benghazi scoops that fell apart once the full context became known. Or even the bombshell Peter Strzok texts that fell apart like a day after they were released.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | February 2, 2018 5:28 PM |
That's it?
by Anonymous | reply 20 | February 2, 2018 5:30 PM |
It's a bunch of unsupported musings on a page.
Why would anyone take this as fact?

Much of the Steele dossier has been validated

They're Trump supporters.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | February 2, 2018 5:34 PM |
The FBI has been trailing Page since 2013, long before trump was running for President.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | February 2, 2018 5:34 PM |
Four people have already been indicted and two pled guilty. This investigation is already showing outcomes.
Trump is pretending there is nothing there
by Anonymous | reply 25 | February 2, 2018 5:35 PM |
Actually there is no there there. It's a shallow bunch of nothing very much like the demented yam himself.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | February 2, 2018 5:40 PM |
I just read the memo and it is very damaging...apparently the FBI was aware of as early as August 2016 that Trump was taking two scoops of ice cream with his chocolate cream pie while everyone else was getting only one.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | February 2, 2018 5:43 PM |
OMG thats it????? Hahahahahah

John McCain statement:
"The latest attacks on the FBI and Department of Justice serve no American interests – no party’s, no president’s, only Putin’s. The American people deserve to know all of the facts surrounding Russia’s ongoing efforts to subvert our democracy, which is why Special Counsel Mueller’s investigation must proceed unimpeded. Our nation’s elected officials, including the president, must stop looking at this investigation through the warped lens of politics and manufacturing partisan sideshows. If we continue to undermine our own rule of law, we are doing Putin’s job for him.”

Wow. This Nune memo is even less impressive than I thought. All these mouth-breathing idiots who called this worse than Watergate just got clowned.

Good timing: Republicans release a memo purporting to contain deeply damning details about the integrity of the FISA process just after reauthorizing FISA.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | February 2, 2018 5:57 PM |
Does Trump really think that angering the FBI is going to end well for him?
by Anonymous | reply 33 | February 2, 2018 5:58 PM |
This memo is nothing more than a fart in the wind. Why was there so much static about releasing it? The media frothing at the mouth did more to generate attention than the memo ever could.

Devin isn't the brightest beet in the borscht.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | February 2, 2018 6:01 PM |
Chuck Woolery actually said that Dems didn't release theirs because they're still writing it.
The man is dumb as a post.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | February 2, 2018 6:02 PM |
I am convinced that Trump didn't read the memo and that he doesn't know what's in it. There is nothing in this memo that makes him look better or that makes Rosenstein look worse.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | February 2, 2018 6:02 PM |

The Republican spin machine was touting that it would prove a law enforcement conspiracy that would shake Washington the core. You think the media wasn't going to cover that?
by Anonymous | reply 38 | February 2, 2018 6:03 PM |
This is an even bigger nothing than I thought it would be. But its nothingness explains why they released it on Friday afternoon.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | February 2, 2018 6:05 PM |
[QUOTE]The Republican spin machine was touting that it would prove a law enforcement conspiracy that would shake Washington the core. You think the media wasn't going to cover that?
How many times did they say that about the latest blockbuster Benghazi revelation that turned out to be nothing? Why do we still care what rightwingers say?
by Anonymous | reply 40 | February 2, 2018 6:10 PM |
Also it’s more than that, R38. What about Adam Schiff out there ringing alarm bells? What did he see in this memo that was such a big deal?
by Anonymous | reply 41 | February 2, 2018 6:12 PM |
The entire point is to discredit Christopher Steele.......thats why they are pushing his supposed bias against Trump. Discredit the source, and you taint the entire investigation. Im sure they singled out Carter Page, because he was one of the people (along with Michael Cohen, et al) making the trips to Russiand and Europe to meet with the Russian operatives....discredit the process that obtained the evidence and you get it thrown out in court.
Read past the bullshit and look at the motives.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | February 2, 2018 6:13 PM |
[quote] This is an even bigger nothing than I thought it would be.
Seriously, there's no 'there' there.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | February 2, 2018 6:13 PM |
[quote]Why do we still care what rightwingers say?
Because unfortunately, if you follow any sort of news you would be quite aware of how the right-wing is dominating all areas of media commonly trafficked by regular people. They are looking to control the narrative because they realize that the average American is dumb, (okay... I'll be nice... "busy"), and are not as tuned into what is actually going on. The right-wing is doing a classic brainwashing tactic; "Repeat it over and over again and people will believe it is true."
by Anonymous | reply 44 | February 2, 2018 6:14 PM |
Anyone know how the right wing is spinning this ?......I just cant look myself without busting a blood vessel.

[quote]Anyone know how the right wing is spinning this ?......I just cant look myself without busting a blood vessel.
I really wouldn't worry about it. Whatever they are doing is already imploding.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | February 2, 2018 6:20 PM |
That’s a good one, r35. I will use that for sure...
by Anonymous | reply 47 | February 2, 2018 6:20 PM |
Exactly r22. And it's not like there isn't far more than the Steele dossier to justify continuation of the warrants. A judge renewed them because they felt the surveillance was yielding key information about Page that merited continued monitoring.
Come up with something better than this, comrades.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | February 2, 2018 6:24 PM |

Having read the @DevinNunes memo, I must say: Are you effing kidding me??!! Read it. It is literally nothing, irrelevant to the law on FISA applications. They may as well have said the application was signed by a man with gum on his shoe. This is pure @FoxNews propaganda fodder.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | February 2, 2018 6:26 PM |
A trumptard's take.
"So.... the Memo has been released and just like we thought the dossier is totally fake and it was used in the applications for a FISA warrant, NOT just once but 3 TIMES. A dossier paid for by the Clintons!!! CONFIRMED!!!! A FAKE dossier used to SPY on the Trumps! A FELONY!!!! Who is going to jail!!!
You libs can now quit with your fake Russian ties!!!
If anyone has ties to Russia its the Clintons!"

The trumpbots are sounding particularly hysterical and desperate today. Lots of !!!! and ALLCAPS. They are still insisting this will this implicate Obama and Hillary for colluding with Russians and this nothing burger, to borrow their words, memo proves the FISA warrants were illegally obtained and that the Steele dossier was all FAKE!!!
It's really quite funny.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | February 2, 2018 6:45 PM |
Did everyone forget that Pompeo met with Russian intelligence chiefs last week ?.......and that Trump wanted a joint US/Russian intelligence op so the two countries could share info and work together......Trump doesnt care what Congress says....he does what he wants...and its not good for us.
This memo is just a diversion from other clandestine operations from Trump......look over here, not over there.

by Anonymous | reply 64 | February 2, 2018 6:57 PM |
Carter Page was supposedly a nobody as per Trump and Co. and now they're so worried that his rights have been infringed? WTF?
This guy (who must be related to Stevie Pee Wee Miller) was warned by the FBI in 2013/14 that he was being recruited by Russian Intelligence. Instead of heeding their warning, he still continues to meet with Russians. They have a lot more information on him other than the Steele report. The FBI wouldn't have been able to get a judge's approval of the first surveillance request as well as the subsequent renewals if they didn't have LOTS of information about his treachery.
Someone on CNN described this memo as " some who wrote a book report but didn't read the book". The GOP had a conclusion, cherry picked what would look good for that purpose and left out the crucial information - you know, the facts.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | February 2, 2018 7:10 PM |
This is going to be like 2002 all over again when the halfwits who couldn't find Afghanistan on a map are suddenly experts on the Taliban.
Now every deplorable, who can barely spell intelligence, let alone explain the difference between a criminal and intelligence warrant, is going to play expert on FISA courts.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | February 2, 2018 7:12 PM |
Carter Page seems to imagine himself as a James Bond, when he's more a doofusy Austin Powers type, except that his cover's been blown time and again., and he's too wrapped up in the fame and attention to deny it.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | February 2, 2018 7:12 PM |
So how come Carter Page, doofus extraordinaire, has never been arrested or detained or sedated or...?
by Anonymous | reply 68 | February 2, 2018 7:13 PM |
Give him (and Mueller) time...
by Anonymous | reply 69 | February 2, 2018 7:14 PM |
R68 - perhaps Mueller is still working on him so he has an iron clad case. Come on Mueller, it's time for more Friday arrests!!! It would be perfect timing today to arrest Page, n'est pas? Wouldn't that send a great message to Cheeto and the Gang? Take that, asswipes!
by Anonymous | reply 70 | February 2, 2018 7:16 PM |
Didnt Carter Page claim on Chris Hayes show that Paul Ryan would vindicate him on the FISA thing ?.....recently ?
by Anonymous | reply 71 | February 2, 2018 7:21 PM |
R68, it was likely coming soon and this memo was in part an preemptive strike to delegitimize the arrest. The White House was caught completely off-guard with all of Mueller's indictments so far, so Nunes was determined to make sure that didn't happen again.
by Anonymous | reply 72 | February 2, 2018 7:22 PM |

If Mueller was smart, he’d have Chris Hayes sitting in the corner of the room when he interrogates Carter Page. Chris can suggestively play with his own nipples and spread his legs every time Mueller asks a hard question.
by Anonymous | reply 79 | February 2, 2018 7:27 PM |
James Comey @Comey
That’s it? Dishonest and misleading memo wrecked the House intel committee, destroyed trust with Intelligence Community, damaged relationship with FISA court, and inexcusably exposed classified investigation of an American citizen. For what? DOJ & FBI must keep doing their jobs.

Nicole Wallace: Some are missing a plot piece in memogate - Carter Page was under surveillance in 2013. Hired by Trump after that. The dossier came into existence after that. Why are republicans and the WH more desperate to smear FBI than find out whether Page was part of a criminal conspiracy?
by Anonymous | reply 89 | February 2, 2018 7:53 PM |
As I stated before.....This is to discredit any evidence they have obtained against Trump via Page......do it now, taint the investigation and sway public opinion. Nunes knows what Page provided.....he admitted to the committee that yes, he was meeting with Russians while denying it publicly.

Nunes memo and the GOP process is grossly unfair and improper in using incomplete info to trash people (even non combatants) for political reasons. This is an unprecedented modern abuse of power by Congress— pure and ugly McCarthyism. Trump/GOP have shamed themselves. Putin wins.

by Anonymous | reply 107 | February 2, 2018 9:14 PM |
Not attacking r81, but James Comey needs to shut the fuck up.
The FBI had been investigating professional retard Carter Page since 2013, Trump since 2016 or a little earlier, yet all that time they hid it while incessantly talking about their "investigation" of HRC. They lied to the NYT to protect Trump, saying nothing untoward was found in his relationship with Russians. Comey's July 2016 TV appearance and the October letter practically handed the election to Trump.
The FBI help put Trump in office. Trump has thrown literally everyone who has ever helped him under the bus. They -- especially Comey -- all need to shut their damn whore mouths with this self-righteous crap.
by Anonymous | reply 108 | February 2, 2018 9:39 PM |

She is also never clean “down there.”
by Anonymous | reply 110 | February 2, 2018 9:46 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 114 | February 2, 2018 11:39 PM |
Exactly, R108, I can't stand righteous Comey. He didn't earn the right.
Here's another thing --
the reason the FBI and Democrats didn't want the unredacted memo leaked is because it lists the dates Carter Page was under surveillance. So, this means Russia will know what the FBI knows.
by Anonymous | reply 115 | February 2, 2018 11:42 PM |
Oop, hit reply too soon.
Russia knows what the FBI knows as it pertains to Page, obviously.
by Anonymous | reply 116 | February 2, 2018 11:43 PM |
Russia also now knows how FISA works and I wonder if that's really what Trump's role was - to provide that .

Can someone post the memo, just so we have it?
by Anonymous | reply 118 | February 3, 2018 12:36 AM |
R118, It's a PDF, so just follow the link and read it yourself. It's all there.
No one wants to type it up for you (you can't just highlight and copy from a PDF).
