Quincy Jones knew Sinatra. Michael Jackson. Malcolm X. Prince. Tupac. Truman Capote & has a tale to go with every famous name
[quote]Frank Sinatra. Michael Jackson. Ray Charles. Malcolm X. Elon Musk. Truman Capote. Buzz Aldrin. Prince. Tupac. Even Leni Riefenstahl. Quincy Jones has run with them all. Chris Heath stays up late with the 84-year-old music legend who has a tale to go with every famous name.
Some highlights:
Sinatra tried to hook him up with Marilyn Monroe but but Jones thought she "had a chest that looked like pears, man."
He went to the Vatican with Bono to meet the Pope and the Pope heard Jones call his shoes "pimp shoes"
Prince tried to run over Michael Jackson, LaToya and their mother after a James Brown concert
Picasso was fucked-up on absinthe all the time
He had lunch with Leni Riefenstahl who told him everybody in the Third Reich was on cocaine.
Jay Sebring was his hairdresser. He invited Jones to Sharon Tate's house to pick up something to help with hair loss but Jones never showed up, the next morning Bill Cosby called him and told him what happened.
Ray Charles was a heroin addict for 30 years "I've seen him shooting in his testicles, man. Because heroin's a strange drug. Ray, all of his veins were dried up and black, and he's shooting himself in the testicles, man."
He used to buy drugs from Malcolm X
He currently has 22 girlfriends around the world ages 28-42 "Hell yeah. Everywhere. Cape Town. Cairo. Stockholm—she's coming in next week. Brazil—Belo Horizonte, São Paulo, and Rio. Shanghai—got a great girl over there from Shanghai, man. Cairo, whew."

I am really sick of everybody in Hollywood saying that they were supposed to be at Sharon Tate's the night of the Manson murders. There was a thread on that said Steve McQueen was supposed to have been there that night. There was a thread about Robert Evans that said he was supposed to have been there that night. There's a B-list former actress (actually she was more like D-list) named Fiona Lewis who was in Roman Polanski's movie "The Fearless Vampire Killers"; she said SHE was supposed to have been at the house that night. I think ALL of these claims, including the one where Quincy Jones was supposed to have gone over to Tate's house to pick up hair products, are utter horseshit.

One of Quincy's daughter worked as a secretary/PA for MJ for a while. She called him a chickenhawk, and she was in a position to know.
According to Harvey Levin, Quincy attempted several interventions with MJ, trying to get him to stop having sleepovers with little boys. He told him it was wrong and inappropriate and to stop it. That didn't go over well with MJ.
Walter Yetnikoff, former president of CBS Records, said in his memoir that MJ tried to block Quincy Jones’ Grammy nomination for producing his smash album Thriller. MJ said: “Quincy didn’t really produce the record, I did. He has enough Grammys.” He also wanted Yetnikoff to pressure Quincy to decline his Grammy nominations, threatening to never use him again as a producer if he didn't agree to let MJ take all the credit for 'Thriller'. Yetnikoof told MJ his claim for having done it all himself was bullshit; he'd been in the studio and seen Quincy at work.

He later had to back track on those comments after Jackson's autopsy revealed that he did indeed suffer from vitiligo. Jackson's longtime make up artist also explained that early on they covered the lighter spots with brown make-up and the did that for as long as they could.
[quote] The autopsy confirmed what Jackson told people who questioned why his skin tone became lighter in the 1980s. Jackson had "vitiligo, a skin pigmentation disease," Rogers said. "So, some areas of the skin appear light and others appear dark.

Rhinoplasty which is not uncommon in the entertainment business, but apparently (according to datalounge) black people who have it are self haters. As I understand it. Jackson had problems with scarring (he had suffered from severe acne) after the rhinoplasty. Which lead him to have further surgeries.
[quote] [R41] The actress Angelica Huston worked on a music video with Michael Jackson and she said that up close and personal she could tell that he bleached his face to lighten the color.
Yes no one is disputing that. He covered the lighter patches with darker make up until he could no longer. Because they were too numerous. So then he bleached what was left of the darker areas, to make his skin one color.

After his death jars and jars of skin bleaching cream were found in Michael Jackson's bedroom. At the end he and his "children" were rich homeless people. Drowning in debt, they stayed in luxurious homes and hotels, free of cost due to generosity of idiot wealthy foreigners who thought they might one day make a profit from future business dealings with Michael Jackson. Or maybe they just wanted to be involved in some way with a very famous, but very mentally ill celebrity. At any rate, Michael Jackson was living off the largesse of others when he died.

[quote]I am really sick of everybody in Hollywood saying that they were supposed to be at Sharon Tate's the night of the Manson murders. There was a thread on that said Steve McQueen was supposed to have been there that night.
This one I actually believe but only because according to Susan Atkins, McQueen’s name was supposedly on Manson’s “death list.”
I’m not so sure about Jones though. From the article:
[quote]In early 1969, Steve McQueen called Jones and asked him to go and see a rough cut of Bullitt. Jones brought along his hairdresser, a man named Jay Sebring, and after the movie, they made plans for later that evening. “He said, 'I'll meet you at Sharon's, because I've got some stuff for your hair,' " Jones remembers. "I was losing my hair." But Jones didn't go.
I looked it up and Bullitt was released in October 1968.
The author mentions Jones getting dates wrong with some things in the article (and makes notes correcting them) but he didn’t mention this.

He briefly talks about Harvey Weinstein but I don’t understand what he means.
[quote]Judging by how often he mentions it, the documentary Keep On Keepin' On—which follows the friendship between the ailing trumpet player Clark Terry, who once mentored Jones, and a young blind jazz pianist, Justin Kauflin—is one of Jones's recent projects that he takes the most pride in. It was shortlisted as one of the 15 documentaries up for an Oscar nomination, but it progressed no further. This is fresh in his mind, in part because he knows whom he blames for this disappointment.
[quote]”We almost won the Oscar, man. Weinstein double-crossed us with Citizenfour. He had both, but he double-crossed us. He was trying to get the one that he could sell the most, and Ed Snowden was the big topic then. But he double-crossed us, and I don't give a fuck—see what happened to him?"
[quote]I ask him what moral he draws from this turn of events.
[quote]”That's the higher power. That's the way the higher power works. If there's anything I've learned in 84 years, it's that whatever you put out there, it will come back at you. That's for sure."

I don’t want to get into it with the MJ Superfans, but the diagnosis of vitiligo was always suspect.
Yes, that affliction was listed in his long term medical records and is listed on the autopsy. However, remember that his good friend—and rumored father of 2 of the kids—is his longtime dermatologist. It’s very likely that the Derm “diagnosed” him so that he could get easy access to skin bleaching solutions. The mortician did not test for vitiligo since it wouldn’t have been a cause of death.
I don’t care either way, just reminding people of the facts.

R58. Kinda or at least not having the same look as the whites they see in magazines and on tv. Jews and Italians both are open about getting rid of Jewish/Roman noses. Asian women who use skin lightners (most of the nurses I work with) will openly say they don’t want to look Asian. White women who spray tan say hate their Irish/English/Danish skin. People always want what they don’t have.

Of course Michael Jackson "did not want to be black." He wanted to be white. He wanted to be a white WOMAN. He wore false eyelashes and lipstick. Eventually he had permanent eyeliner and lip color tattooed on his face. When his hair started thinning he started wearing wigs and towards the end of his life wore one in a shoulder length pageboy style. He bleached his skin a corpse white shade. He wanted to obliterate his African American features; he had his lips thinned and his nose whittled down to nothing. Oh, he wanted to be white, alright. He hated being black.

It's obvious that MJ was the primary producer of his early albums. The sound is distinctly his. Quincy was more of a glorified engineer, who helped MJ realize his vision.
I'm not downplaying Quincy's technical expertise, but the artistic vision and sound of those brilliant albums was all Michael.
