I get too worked up and I have high blood pressure. I will have to have the TV on mute and catch the highlights....or should I say lowlights latter.

If Trump speaks about granting amnesty to illegals as the right thing to do, there should be mass exclamations of "you lie" from the Congress.

He'll barf out lies with great insincerity and hideous facial expressions. You know, the usual.

All politicians are crooks. But TRUMP takes the cake.

Since his vocabulary is limited to 88 words, and most of them are just one or two syllables, don't expect much insight in this speech.

Maybe he will shit his pants and vomit on himself. We all need our hopes and dreams.

I'm more interested in the Democrat response to this mess.

It'll be one of those speeches that's written in advance and on teleprompter, so he'll be just fine. Every once in awhile, he'll look directly at the camera and insert his own commentary, (some inane comment like "it's true. Believe me!") and those will be the one or two statements that might get him into a little trouble.

The next day, the Repugs will give him more praise than the critics gave Schindler's List, and the Democrats will mostly concede while recognizing his discipline. Then, not being able to stand it, he'll either tweet something or come forward with an actual verbal statement that will be highly racist and guaranteed to offend at least 51% of this nation, and 75% of the world. At least Trump is consistent.

He’ll mainly stay on script and try to speak in that weirdly quiet, delicate voice he sometimes does. I’m sure everyone’s expectations are low, so it’ll probably go quite well, and some people no doubt say “This is the night Donald Trump really became president.”

And then the next morning he’ll fire Mueller after tweeting about a cookery segment on Fox & Friends.

He'll say that he is respected internationally, that Davos he was so well received and they had the biggest crowd ever. Just for him. I promise, or the drinks are on me. At Davos he actually said: "I'm told this is the biggest crowd ever". He can't stop making this remark to press and rally crowds. Deluded, He is incapable of irony, has no self-awareness and is entirely predictable.

Yeah, he will totally brag about how well he was received in Davos which he claims proves how great of a polititian he is.

The State of the Union is....GREAT, because there has never been a president who is such as YUUUGE genius as ME. No other president has gotten as much important and profitable legislation passed as ME. No other president has been as loved by the American people as ME. I have been bigly successful! No other president has shot as many rounds of golf, or grabbed as many pussies as I have in my first year in office. I have already made America GREAT again!

He will be an asshole.

He will brag and bloviate as he always does. I will skip it -- why bother?

Trump is obsessed with ratings, not going to watch it.

NOBODY should watch it. But don't just turn the TV off. Ratings are RELATIVE. They represent the SHARE of viewership. So Turn you TV on to some OTHER channel.

A lot of people are going to tune into HGTV, so that most viewership is concentrated on one other channel.

He'll be reading with great effor someone else's words off the teleprompter, with an occasional line of his own in there. You'll be able to tell when he gets to one because the slightly panicked expression he gets when having to read will relax a bit. He may even get distracted enough to ad lib at that point.

Be prepared for his typical recitation cadence. Blah. Pause. Blah blah blah blah Blah. Blah blah blah blah Blah. Pause. Rinse, repeat.

If the mainstream media had balls, they should refuse to broadcast it. He should only be available on C-Span.

Has Trump ever given a speech this late in the evening before? If he is slipping cognitively, he may experience "sundowning" a phenomenon experienced by dementia sufferers whose symptoms become worse as the day progresses as they tire out. Less capable of rational thought. more delusional content, more repetitive. There's probably a damn good reason why he's locked away in his bedroom by 6:30 every evening. Even if it's a scripted speech read from the teleprompter, it still requires a great deal of stamina mental and otherwise to stand there for over an hour. It will be interesting to see how sharp or not he is. Not that I'll be watching. I'll catch the highlights and read excerpts of the transcript.

Am I the only one who thinks he reads the teleprompter like a Special Ed kid? He rocks back and forth from screen to screen pausing mid sentence. He does that OK sign constantly and it's embarrassing. Yet I hear people saying he did well.

R56, no, you are not the only one. I can't stand to listen to listen to him speak or read. He sounds like he cares nothing for his own words, he is lying and insincere. A con man to the end.
