I just checked (my family is in Alaska) - 8.2 earthquake in Alaska has caused this, and there is also a tsunami warning for all of Alaska's south-central coast.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | January 23, 2018 9:17 AM |
The chart at r6 doesn't make sense.
It shows wave arrival in Monterey at 5:55am, then San Francisco (NOT "Frisco,") a half hour later at 6:20.
But Monterey is far south of SF, why wouldn't a wave arrive first in SF?

Will it kill Sarah Palin?

The elitist left-coast liberals will finally get what they deserve!

Hawaii is now included in the Tsunami watch.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | January 23, 2018 9:38 AM |
No, R10, because Palin lives in the Matanuska Valley far Inland, and is essentially a citified suburb of Anchorage.
Unlike my own family, who live on the south-central coast. It arrives in ten minutes there and I have been trying to call my mom to wake her up there, and she is not picking up. Hopefully she is just asleep. The house is a mile from the beach, sloping upward with a bluff.

Wasn’t this year predicted to be unusually seismically active?
by Anonymous | reply 14 | January 23, 2018 9:40 AM |
Update from former Alaska, I finally woke up my mom, who said she is getting in the car and driving inland

In Anchorage. The #earthquake woke me up, but didn't last long, & didn't have a "punch" (some do). I fell asleep. Now, my phone says, " #Tsunami warning! Get to high ground, fool!" I looked outside. No fish swimming by. So, I'm gonna have coffee instead
by Anonymous | reply 40 | January 23, 2018 11:12 AM |
First wave of 3 ft hit Kodiak. Unclear if more yet to come.

Water levels in Kodiak, Alaska are showing some unusual fluctuations over the last half hour. So far it appears the water level has dropped 6" to 1' at times. Thankfully, no dramatic drop has been recorded yet. #Tsunami #earthquake

Anchorage Daily News reporting no damage.

One should out only those whose closeted life is so twisted that they publicly speak and work against gays.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | January 23, 2018 12:54 PM |
R50, I think you are looking for another thread.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | January 23, 2018 12:55 PM |
It looks like we dodged the bullet this time but I hope this isn’t a precursor to the big one — the cascadia subduction, which is past due. Google it if you don’t know what it is.
That will be a disaster no matter when it happens, but even more of a disaster with that clown in the White House. You can see him doing nothing because the affected states are democratic. You can see him using it as an excuse to try to take dictatorial power.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | January 23, 2018 1:02 PM |
We could throw the ones that publicly speak and work against gays into the next tsunami.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | January 23, 2018 1:03 PM |
So was there ever a tsunami or not?
by Anonymous | reply 54 | January 23, 2018 1:14 PM |
no there wasn't
by Anonymous | reply 55 | January 23, 2018 1:23 PM |

I don't even want to think of the torment you endure under such a pathology. I think I'd kill myself.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | January 23, 2018 5:44 PM |
It wasn't tsunami, it was Su Nomi, stomping feet really, really, hard cause I tell her no time for manicure appointment today.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | January 23, 2018 8:41 PM |
I'm on the east coast and the national weather service sent me this warning. Wtf?
by Anonymous | reply 59 | February 6, 2018 3:43 PM |
R59 It's another test message mistakenly sent out as a real message
by Anonymous | reply 60 | February 6, 2018 3:47 PM |
Ok, I checked and it was another one of those stupid mistakes that people in sensitive positions keep making. Jesus. I just woke up
by Anonymous | reply 61 | February 6, 2018 3:47 PM |
My biggest fear is tsunami. Ever since I saw videos of the Boxing Day tsunami. Then the Japanese tsunami. A woman standing on the second floor deck of her house watches as the water keeps coming. You know she's dead.
And I wake up to a fucking tsunami warning. The first thing I thought was that Cumbra Vieja shit.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | February 6, 2018 4:00 PM |
First the Hawaiian missile error, now this. If an asteroid hurtles towards the earth within the next few weeks, no one will believe the warnings.
