Very pretty back in the day but can't say I recall her from her films..

Ger most famous role, Guy Madison's GF in Til The End of Time.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | January 15, 2018 12:41 AM |
Miss Porter's finished school......
by Anonymous | reply 4 | January 15, 2018 12:44 AM |
Porter's film debut was in 1936. There aren't many actresses left who played ingénue or adult roles in 30s films: O de H, Marsha Hunt, Patricia Morison, Glynis Johns, Micheline Presle, Peggy Stewart, Fay McKenzie, Jane Withers, Suzy Delair, Mary Carlisle, and Muriel Pavlow.

Jean Porter was in "Abbott and Costello in Hollywood," 1945, MGM. One of the few films the team made away from Universal in the 1940s.

Damn, I would like to be in the middle between Robert Mitchum and Guy Madison.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | January 15, 2018 1:37 AM |
Patricia Morison is even older than Olivia!
by Anonymous | reply 8 | January 15, 2018 1:37 AM |
I know that she was married to director Edward Dmytryck (sic).

You're damned right I'm still "left"!
by Anonymous | reply 11 | January 15, 2018 2:11 AM |
She looks good for 100!
by Anonymous | reply 13 | January 15, 2018 2:15 AM |
According to Wiki, Mary Carlisle may be 105...and she has a star on Hollywood Blvd. despite mostly being in B-pictures.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | January 15, 2018 3:27 AM |
These old dames need a troll---I mean a B-picture actress with a tsr on Hollywood Blvd--she had to be fucking someone, even after she left pictures.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | January 15, 2018 2:25 PM |
She was a Communist and married one of the most notorious ones as well.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | January 15, 2018 3:06 PM |
"most notorious"" Most of these people were politically naive and left the party rather quickly. Porter's husband, Edward Dmytryk was one of these and he later "named names". Oddly, the fascists American firsters never had to go through the same level of witch hunting. Philip Johnson had no trouble building a career and Lindberg, though diminished, continued to be venerated as a hero.

Connie Sawyer, shown here with Susan Hayward from a scene in ADA (1961) is still living and is 105.

Earl Cameron shown here with Sean Connery in THUNDERBALL (1965) is 100 years old.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | January 16, 2018 5:35 AM |
Gone too soon.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | January 16, 2018 5:36 AM |
Baby Peggy who was a huge child star in the 1920s is now 99.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | January 16, 2018 5:36 AM |
Lucky lady getting to work with the beautiful Guy Madison! It's 'strange' to think there will come a time when there is no one left from Hollywood's golden era and every death of someone involved in that era brings that reality closer.
Anyway may she rest in peace x

Nehemiah Persoff, shown here in a scene from SOME LIKE IT HOT, is now 98.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | January 16, 2018 5:40 AM |
Jean Porter is pictured (OP) with Richard Erdmann who is 92. He had a recurring role in "Community". He was "Hoffy" in "Stalag 17", the well-respected organizer ( not Price, the Peter Graves character).

It's great that so many have made it to a grand old age. I will still feel sad when there's no one left from this era despite its inevitability.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | January 16, 2018 6:40 PM |
R31, I was about to post similiar sentiments. It's almost as if they are collectively hanging in there, lest society loses its last link to the golden era.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | January 16, 2018 11:30 PM |
Prayers going up for her heartbroken parents. There's nothing worse than losing a child.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | January 16, 2018 11:43 PM |
[R32] Brilliantly put.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | January 17, 2018 12:00 AM |
Bumping this because Patricia Morison is dead now, too
by Anonymous | reply 35 | May 21, 2018 2:09 AM |
Was Porter her maiden name?
by Anonymous | reply 36 | May 21, 2018 2:14 AM |
Wow - Patricia Morrison was older than Olivia de Havilland!
by Anonymous | reply 37 | May 21, 2018 2:57 AM |
I think that the last link will be once Margaret O'Brien dies. She is now 80.
