Amazon Prime • LGBT Titles

I am looking for love.

Well…love in movies which I can stream from Amazon Prime.

I don’t want miserable people where it is gloom and doom. I want loving love between men who are in love.

Any recommendations?

by Anonymousreply 29February 2, 2018 12:26 AM

Hulu had Paris 559 I liked a lot.

by Anonymousreply 1January 14, 2018 3:30 AM

"Any recommendations?"

Only if "Dawson's 50-Load Weekend" is available on Amazon Prime.

Other than this, I got nothing.

by Anonymousreply 2January 14, 2018 3:33 AM

OP you might like one called “Get Real”. It is a British film and it’s a bit cheesy but if you’re looking for a bit of romance it’s pretty satisfying.

by Anonymousreply 3January 14, 2018 3:40 AM

Unfortunately the licensing between streaming content providers (Netflix, Amazon, etc) and gay film distributors (Strand, Wolfe, TLA, Breaking Glass) is extremely flimsy. Titles get posted up and taken down very frequently.

by Anonymousreply 4January 14, 2018 3:43 AM

Amazon has Tom of Finland not on Prime. I haven’t seen it but I heard it is good.

Prime does have You & I liked it a lot. Two friends ( one German one British one gay one ‘straight’ ) go on a road trip in the country in Germany and meet a Russian. A LOT of nudity and that’s always a good thing.

by Anonymousreply 5January 14, 2018 3:52 AM

Loved when they realized they loved each other and were like “Boris, it’s time for you to go 😐” right at fucking breakfast. Ice cold.

Hulu has Departure I think I will watch it tonight. It has Alex Lawther star of classic Black Mirror Shut Up And Dance and new Netflix series The End of the F***ing World.

by Anonymousreply 8January 14, 2018 4:14 AM

Departure wasn’t very good.

by Anonymousreply 9January 14, 2018 9:43 AM

Departure was adorable. It’s hard to do coming of age movies poorly though IMO.

The German “Center of My World” was another good coming of age film. And I’m pretty sure the leads are gay IRL, so that’s exciting!

Tell you the truth I wasn’t paying 100% attention to Departure but it seemed the mother and son weren’t very likable. I liked the French kid.

by Anonymousreply 11January 14, 2018 10:17 AM

Departure’s Alex Lawther is the cutest little thing. Hope he finds a nice top to help him take it easy.

Get Real is one of my favorite gay drama comedies, it's great.

by Anonymousreply 13January 14, 2018 10:31 AM

I don’t remember one funny thing about Get Real.

by Anonymousreply 14January 14, 2018 10:34 AM

R14, what? The film is filled with jokes from start to finish. It's certainly not a comedy-comedy but a drama comedy.

by Anonymousreply 15January 14, 2018 11:01 AM

It has been a long time since I watched it just remember loving the ending.

by Anonymousreply 16January 14, 2018 3:22 PM

Thanks, r10 - Center of the My World was great! And it's true the guys are megahot

by Anonymousreply 17January 14, 2018 7:24 PM

“Head On” is a really very interesting film. Impressive nudity too. It’s on Netflix.

by Anonymousreply 18January 14, 2018 7:31 PM

Yes I like Alex longhreekname but is an Aussie.

by Anonymousreply 19January 14, 2018 11:38 PM

You have to rent Center on Amazon right ?

by Anonymousreply 20January 14, 2018 11:39 PM

What makes you think this?

by Anonymousreply 21January 14, 2018 11:45 PM

R21, I follow Jannik and Louis on IG and just observe their likes. Louis isn’t very active, so it’s more intuition on his part. But Jannik likes quite a bit of gay stuff.

[quote]It’s hard to do coming of age movies poorly though IMO.

If anything, it's too easy to do a high school- or college-aged coming out movie. What about late-in-life coming out?

by Anonymousreply 23January 14, 2018 11:55 PM

R23, the only one that I can think of is Beginners and honestly, I didn’t watch it. The uncomfortable truth is that youth coming out movies are popular because:

1) most people look back on their childhood most fondly of all their life periods; and

2) the beauty of youth will always be alluring

And speaking of, this thread just made me realize how much I loved discovering gay films in my 20s. Films like Shelter; the English films (Beautiful Thing; Maurice, Another Country); the French films (Wild Reeds, Presque Rein, Three Dancing Slaves, etc.); Jossi and Yaeger, and a few others (Lonely Hearts Club, Trick, Araki films, Van Sant films, and L. I. E. haha); my 20s were so much fucking fun! How I miss those days 😩

by Anonymousreply 24January 15, 2018 12:11 AM

Any good movies about relationships between men over 35?

by Anonymousreply 25January 15, 2018 12:20 AM

I never watch but nothing but good about it how old are the lovers of Weekend?

by Anonymousreply 26January 15, 2018 12:38 AM

Never watched it but heard nothing but good.

Grrrrrrr

by Anonymousreply 27January 15, 2018 12:39 AM

The characters in "Weekend" were twenty-somethings.

"Yossi" ( a sequel to "Yossi and Jagger") stars a mid-thirties character trying to onto the gay scene.

by Anonymousreply 28January 15, 2018 10:59 PM

I love that scene, r6. I think Jonas was the one who wanted Boris gone right then and there and he silently told Philip to get it done. He knew he'd really fuck Boris up if he had to do it.
