Now I’m glad she keeps getting snubbed!
Greta Gerwig wusses out and apologizes for working with Woody Allen
by Anonymous | reply 61 | January 29, 2018 3:53 PM |
She's hideous.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | January 10, 2018 11:58 AM |
DL's legion of THE JEW MUST PAY Trolls will be squealing in delight.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | January 10, 2018 12:02 PM |
Will Chalamet be the next one to repent for working with the creep?
R2 You're the one in this thread mentioning he's a Jew. In any case, it's not a legion, it's just one nut correlating predatory behaviour with a particular ethnicity.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | January 10, 2018 12:10 PM |
Uh, no R3. Far more than one. But don't let that stop you continuing on your dismissive way about wide-spread bigotry.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | January 10, 2018 12:24 PM |
She never heard he married his daughter? She never heard the molestation allegations? Bullshit
by Anonymous | reply 5 | January 10, 2018 12:25 PM |
She was pretty young when she worked with him so I don't know why people blamed her more than, say, Cate Blanchett or Kate Winslet, both of whom clearly do not care.
And re is right, there's one rampant antisemite and one rampant "DLers are all antisemites" troll who show up to these threads. Most days I assume they're the same person.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | January 10, 2018 12:34 PM |
R3 = R6
by Anonymous | reply 7 | January 10, 2018 12:38 PM |
Hardly, r7. But thanks for turning the whole thread into garbage immediately.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | January 10, 2018 12:47 PM |
Not quite R8. That occurred when you posted R3 . . . uh . . .R6.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | January 10, 2018 12:55 PM |
Did she think about “other women’s pain" when she hooked up with Noah Baumbach, who was married to a pregnant Jennifer Jason Leigh?
by Anonymous | reply 10 | January 10, 2018 1:08 PM |
I’m sure the Woodman is devastated.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | January 10, 2018 1:15 PM |
Someone wants to clear the slate in time for Oscar!
You know, if Harvey was around, if he had CMBYN, he's be reigniting the press over Gary Oldman's anti-semitism. If he had TDH, he'd be taking down Tim O'Tay over his decision to work with Woody Allen.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | January 10, 2018 1:29 PM |
I finally saw Lady Bird and thought it was way overrated. Yes, it's a good movie but not a great one. One of Gerwig's earlier films Francis Ha is a rip off of a 70's movie called Girlfriends starring the one and only Melanie Mayron.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | January 10, 2018 2:03 PM |
There is something unsavory about working with Woody Allen - on your way up - and then denouncing him from your new position on top of the business. Shunning is powerful. And I have to admit that it is working to give some power to an entire class of person working in film and television who have been treated badly and kept powerless.
But shunning is troubling. It doesn't require intelligence or insight to work. It really only requires forming a mob and then acting like a mob. In the short term, it looks successful. But in the longterm, I think this movement will be compared to the Hollywood blacklists of the 1950's and a lot of this movements leaders will be compared to Joe McCarthy. And not without reason.
If you don't want to work with Woody Allen. Don't. If he abused you, speak up. But if you worked for him in the past, and all that happened to you was that you got a job and an opportunity to build your career in a prominent project, just thank the guy.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | January 10, 2018 4:53 PM |
If women had to discriminate who they work for based on whether the boss or any of the other males in an organization are sexual abusers, very few would have jobs.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | January 10, 2018 5:01 PM |
I think Lady Bird was a very special movie. Yes, the coming of age movie is well worn territory. Not much new to say. But, damn it, Gerwig found a lot to say.
I didn't think any movie would top Call Me By Your Name this year, but for me Lady Bird has done it. Most effective for me was the realistic portrayal of what struggling financially can do to a family. It's not a matter of just tightening the belts. It goes to the very core of their self-esteem- the ability to provide for your wife and children, the mother having to work two jobs, and remain unresentful, the kid trying to sort it all out, and dealing with the shame of not having what the other kids have.
I loved how Lady Bird had her heart smashed into 1000 pieces, but then was able to understand that her ex-boyfriend, now her friend, was in crisis, and was going though something even worse. Lucas Hedges was excellent in that scene, too.
The way she hated her hometown. I know it was a metaphor, but I liked how she subtly began to understand what made the town special. I had that experience. Hated where I grew up, couldn't wait to get out. When I go back now, I love it. I understand it now.
And I will never complain about getting to spent some time with Tim Chalamet's hotness.
I loved the ending. A lesser movie would've given us something more pat. Wouldn't let Lady Bird, and her mother off the hook, and given a happy ending. This movie was too complex for that.
I grew up Catholic, and am a hardcore atheist now. But I loved that the priests and nuns were not caricatures, but well drawn, full fledged people. I loved the audition scene where they all sing Sondheim, and then the play. They did Merrily We Roll Along in high school! And the priest complaining "They didn't get it!" after opening night was sublime.
Only scratching the surface here. It's a gem.

If Jews are 2% of the population but make up at least 75% of the sexual predators in the news lately, perhaps it is not bigotry but truthfulness that causes non-Jews to be wary of sexually predatory Jews.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | January 10, 2018 5:30 PM |
r17, the key bit in that sentence is "in the news lately". So you've gotta ask why is that? Who has an interest in stoking antisemitism? By your own admission the statistics don't line up. How many positive stories in the media do you hear about christians compared to muslims? How many positive stories in general compared to negative stories do we hear about? Why? What's the goal of making the population fearful? Use your fuckin brain. It's the same shit as 'follow the money' and 'what matters is who counts the votes'. There's a million stories a day to tell, but very specific ones are being chosen. Someone's doing that picking.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | January 10, 2018 5:38 PM |
Oh & I'm team Jennifer Jason Leigh.
Baumbach's work is garbage and Gerwig seems insufferable.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | January 10, 2018 5:39 PM |
I hope there’s a backlash against her for this. The Jews run Hollywood after all and don’t believe Woody molested Dylan. They know Mia’s crazy. I’ve been feeling certain Lady Bird would win Best Pic so hopefully this will scuttle some of the voting for it.

The Jews own and run the Mainstream Media. If they aren't able to suppress the news of Jewish sexual predatory behavior, that points to a real epidemic of it.

Telling the truth about Jewish malefactors isn't anti-Semitism.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | January 10, 2018 6:07 PM |
Jesus, r5--not his daughter; not his stepdaughter; not married to or living with Mia Farrow at any time.. Mia Farrow and Andre Previn's adopted daughter. This is not a difficult concept.

R17 is DL's resident anti-semite R18. Don't engage.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | January 12, 2018 1:17 AM |
Greta Gerwig is a woman who suffers from manface.
I don't get her or her whole thing, but I loved Ladybird - mainly because of Laurie Metcalf and Irish Actress whose name I cannot say and cannot ever remember.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | January 12, 2018 1:33 AM |
Oh, and Jonah Hill's sister was very good too.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | January 12, 2018 1:34 AM |
Oh course she knew before - still better now than bloody never like all those bigots that still suck up to Allen, not giving a damn he's raped children. You really gonna call her out but ass kiss all the guys still happily working with that disgusting human? Fuck off, DL.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | January 12, 2018 1:38 AM |
He's raped children? Really? Who has he raped?
by Anonymous | reply 28 | January 12, 2018 1:40 AM |
Why is DL defending Woody Allen?
by Anonymous | reply 29 | January 12, 2018 1:41 AM |
She and Brit Marling annoy me.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | January 12, 2018 2:04 AM |
R29 because he is falsely accused by his lunatic ex Mia Farrow.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | January 12, 2018 2:05 AM |
NAMBLA seems hell bent on enlarging their place in the gay community, despite having been forced out, repeatedly, in the past. Remember Harry Hay and his crying when gays called pedos child abusers?
They are all over DL of late, posting innumerable threads about the pedo glamorizing film. They love to parse all the categories of perving on kids, fetishizing the language of predators. Gross!
Long and short, that is likely why so many on DL are going to bat so aggressively for Allen here.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | January 12, 2018 2:19 AM |
[quote]She never heard the molestation allegations? Bullshit
I never heard of them until the Woody Allen SJW went nuts castigating everyone for not castigating Tim O'Tay for not castigating Woody Allen.

Lol, no.

This board is also monitored by Epstein rep management, past and present.
Pedos and pedo apologists, get off DL. You are not welcome here, nor in the gay and lesbian community. You cannot normalize your sick, destructive behavior under some "queer umbrella." You have been repelled before, get out.

I think there has been an influx of ONTD and Jezebel posters coming to DL of late and they want to impose there SJW group think on this site.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | January 12, 2018 4:09 AM |
I stopped thinking about Woody Allen after Hannah and Her Sisters. Just because I don't wish to start thinking about him again doesn't make me a "pedo."
by Anonymous | reply 42 | January 12, 2018 10:17 AM |
Stop trying to make Woody Allen a thing, SJWs.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | January 12, 2018 10:19 AM |
The only film I liked Gerwig in was The House of the Devil - probably because she got her head blown off pretty early in the movie.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | January 12, 2018 10:24 AM |
She was good in that movie.
If Woody keeps on making bad movies I suspect more will ‘refuse’ to work with him.
Mia is hard to believe. It’s a fact Allen is a sleazeball. Only in bad porno do you fuck the mother of your child’s daughter. I believe Dylan believes what she said. We all know memories are tricky. Allen adopted more children surely the courts made sure he wasn’t a child molester.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | January 12, 2018 11:14 AM |
And I think Jennifer Jason Leigh is a national treasure. Kinda like UK’s Judi Dench without the good roles.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | January 12, 2018 11:20 AM |
How nice of Greta to lend her head to some anti-woman splatter porn.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | January 12, 2018 2:17 PM |
Brave to take a stand like that.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | January 16, 2018 6:28 AM |
If you've lived in NYC in the past twenty years you KNEW about Allen and Farrow. If you've lived in NYC and worked in the film industry you DOUBLE KNEW about Allen and Farrow. She is aching for her directing Oscar, and that is the sole reason she spoke out.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | January 16, 2018 6:52 AM |
Anyone who worked with him after the Soon Yi business should apologize.
And also Christina Ricci and Jason Biggs, for playing two of the most annoying characters ever, in Anything Else.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | January 16, 2018 7:13 AM |
she should apologize for her face
by Anonymous | reply 51 | January 16, 2018 7:19 AM |
What a bunch of lemmings.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | January 16, 2018 7:26 AM |
No, R45, the file from Dylan's case had mysteriously vanished prior to the other girls' adoptions being rammed through. Money talks and cases are steered.
His first wife was 15 when they started dating, he married her at 16. Dude is a gross perv.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | January 16, 2018 1:06 PM |
I'm far from defending a guy who married the daughter of his ex, but isn't it particularly strange that no one ever came forward in all these years on allegations against him? Are people being paid, or is Allen really a settled creep?
by Anonymous | reply 55 | January 16, 2018 1:18 PM |
This is worth a read and don't miss the incest image from Stardust Memories, 1980.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | January 16, 2018 1:24 PM |
Tim has also donated his salary from the Allen film.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | January 16, 2018 1:28 PM |
Greta will win the Best Director Oscar this year. Why? It's the year of the woman.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | January 29, 2018 3:03 PM |
Food for thought from an actress (and a great one at that) with a more reasoned and emotionally mature POV, from a story in today's NY Times:
"Cherry Jones, the Tony- and Emmy-winning actress who also appears in “Rainy Day,” had a different response when asked how she felt about Mr. Allen and whether she would work with him again. “There are those who are comfortable in their certainty. I am not. I don’t know the truth,” she told The Times. “When we condemn by instinct our democracy is on a slippery slope.”
No one is saying Allen is not sleazy, but Mia Farrow is a major nutjob herself and I would not take anything she says at face value.

Her live-in companion, Noah Baumbach, is a massive Woody Allen fan. He spoke at an Allen retrospective at the Amsterdam Eye (museum of cinema) a few years ago.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | January 29, 2018 3:26 PM |
R60 Of course. Baumbach's whole shtick is a rip off of Allen's.
