Deputy AG, FBI director make unannounced visit to Paul Ryan's office

"Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and FBI Director Chris Wray made an unannounced visit to Speaker Paul Ryan's office Wednesday as the Justice Department grapples with an increasingly hostile faction of House Republicans demanding documents related to the bureau's Russia probe."

Does this have anything to do with Ryan's early and undeserved retirement?

There's just no way THAT's good. For Ryan anyway. I'm chortling!

by Anonymousreply 1January 4, 2018 1:52 AM

Smells like an accidental visit on an airport tarmac. We'll see.

I would love to have been a fly on that wall

by Anonymousreply 3January 4, 2018 1:55 AM

Ryan was on talk shows this week complaining about how slow the FBI is being in giving them all the documents they want because, I believe, to quote, "Wahwahwah, we wants 'em nnnooooooowwwww!"

by Anonymousreply 4January 4, 2018 1:56 AM

Oh my goodness.

by Anonymousreply 5January 4, 2018 1:57 AM

Nunes' deadline for the DOJ and FBI turning over a bunch of documents he's demanded regarding the dossier and FBI agents was today. It's part of the Republican's ongoing obstruction and attempt to destroy the FBI. Now I guess we just wait to see if they turned them over or not.

by Anonymousreply 6January 4, 2018 2:00 AM

this got lost in the heavy news cycle but hopefully more will come out

by Anonymousreply 7January 4, 2018 2:01 AM

Wow. Two partisan hacks pop in on the granny-starver. Saints preserve us!

by Anonymousreply 8January 4, 2018 2:04 AM

Nunez is a complete retard, I don't believe anyone should even speak to him.

I do think Paul Ryan has been used by Russians and I think it will come out. I have to also believe Graham, McConnel and possibly McCain, took advantage of Russian money.

by Anonymousreply 9January 4, 2018 2:07 AM

r9 busily sniffing out Russian perfidy everywhere.

I agree R9--he's completely defective. He represents a conservative agricultural district here in California that is full of deplorables.

by Anonymousreply 11January 4, 2018 2:20 AM

[quote]Seems likely it's related to a Devin Nunes request for information from the investigation which had a deadline of today. It could be Rosenstein/Wray telling Ryan to call Nunes off because he's interfering with the investigation.

[quote]With the standoff between Grassley and Fusion GPS going on today, it's possible he wants to make sure stuff doesn't come out until he's ready for it. Also, with the House furiously trying to shit all over the DoJ and FBI, there's probably beef there.

what the heck went on there? It's not every day that head of the FBI goes to capitol hill in a secret meeting with the speaker of the house. Something is going down.

by Anonymousreply 13January 4, 2018 2:22 AM

Is that something bad for Trump or bad for us?

by Anonymousreply 14January 4, 2018 2:27 AM

From CNN reporter Manu Raju just now on Twitter:

Nunes says he has a deal with Rosenstein to access documents related to Steele dossier. "I believe the House Intelligence Committee has reached an agreement with the Department of Justice that will provide the committee with access to all the documents and witnesses"

by Anonymousreply 15January 4, 2018 2:27 AM

The whole committee including Democrats or Nunes' special Repug only committee of fools?

by Anonymousreply 16January 4, 2018 2:29 AM

"Reached a deal" means that the FBI put the smack down on Nunes and put Ryan on notice.

by Anonymousreply 17January 4, 2018 2:30 AM

It's ABOUT FUCKING TIME!!!!!! I love our FBI, but they're dicks should have been on the table a YEAR AGO. But such is the beast of bureaucracy. Better late than never?

by Anonymousreply 18January 4, 2018 2:34 AM

Wait, I just read that Lindsey G may head the Trump Russia probe. Is THAT why he's been cozying up? Was he trying to look "neutral" so when this happens, no one can say he is biased against Trump? Or does he just feel sorry for poor Donnie lmao????

by Anonymousreply 19January 4, 2018 2:37 AM

R16 I have no idea. Maju hasn't elaborated or Tweeted anything else. I wish the news channels would stop with the (admittedly hilarious) trump/Bannon stuff and cover this.

by Anonymousreply 20January 4, 2018 2:44 AM

The Republicans in Congress, for the most part, are a bunch of soulless corrupt criminals.

by Anonymousreply 21January 4, 2018 2:44 AM

For the *whole* part, R21.

by Anonymousreply 22January 4, 2018 2:53 AM

And of all days when Paul Ryan just *happened* to have been pre-lubed!

by Anonymousreply 23January 4, 2018 3:54 AM

Was the FBI there to tell Ryan to cool it and make him stop Nunes from obstructing the work they are doing with his grandstanding and haranguing? I bet it's along those lines. I bet they told Ryan to fucking cool it or they'd lower the boom on them both!

by Anonymousreply 24January 4, 2018 5:27 AM

Ryan is a soviet apparatchik.

by Anonymousreply 25January 4, 2018 8:37 AM

I truly believe that, r25

by Anonymousreply 26January 4, 2018 8:39 AM

It was leaked earlier that Paul Ryan knew that Trump was compromised/colluding by/with the Russians/Putin and he did not go to the FBI. Told others to say quiet.

by Anonymousreply 27January 4, 2018 8:46 AM

Ryan is the only one who can call off Nunes, and Nunes is one of the conspirators.

by Anonymousreply 28January 4, 2018 9:03 AM

Totally agree with r25.

by Anonymousreply 29January 4, 2018 10:23 AM

Agreed.

by Anonymousreply 30January 4, 2018 10:47 AM

Maybe today someone will do some reporting

by Anonymousreply 31January 4, 2018 10:59 AM

All the top republicans have accepted money from Russian oligarchs the are all complicit.

by Anonymousreply 32January 4, 2018 11:05 AM

Looks like they couldn't scare off Ryand and Nunes. From democratic underground:

Rep. Devin Nunes announced late Wednesday that his panel, the House Intelligence Committee, appears to have reached an agreement with the Justice Department to gain access to "all" documents and witnesses it sought by a deadline at the end of the day.

“After speaking to Deputy Attorney General Rosenstein this evening, I believe the House Intelligence Committee has reached an agreement with the Department of Justice that will provide the committee with access to all the documents and witnesses we have requested," Nunes, R-Calif., said in a brief statement. "The committee looks forward to receiving access to the documents over the coming days."

The announcement came hours after FBI Director Christopher Wray and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein met with House Speaker Paul Ryan on Capitol Hill.

by Anonymousreply 33January 5, 2018 6:22 AM

He's going to run to orange with everything which will do two things 1)dump will act out and again try to obstruct regarding what Nunes told him. This will implicate both of them. And 2)will show Nunes is unfit to be on the committee.

Fool has been set up by the FBI and is too stupid to realize it.

by Anonymousreply 34January 5, 2018 4:06 PM

I disappointed they didn't frog march Ryan out of his office in cuffs.
