Some things are more effective when left unseen. It would've been better if they never actually filmed the body, and instead just filmed their reactions upon finding it. They're very influential for young kids and teens. And the make tons of money for no more skill than it would take to hold people's attention at a party....so there's a big jealousy factor.

I'd disagree a little with saying its not that much work. To record a bunch of footage everyday and edit it myself and make sure I have interesting stuff planned literally everyday for viewers sounds daunting.

All these YouTube 'stars' have agents and managers. That's how they get Netflix shows ("Back Off Haters") and have people ghost write novels for them to slap their names on (Joey Graceffa). It gives then an entree into the legitimate entertainment business that they crave to be part of, but which they're never taken seriously in, with few exceptions.

Shane Dawson is in the same league as Logan Paul. A loudmouth frat boy who happens to be gay. He has said some nasty stuff too if it's true.

Apparently his movie "The Thinning" was a Youtube Red project... and the sequel to it has been put on hold. And he's no longer a "preferred partner", and he isn't participating in some Youtube Red series any longer.

Frankly the punishment Youtube is dishing out here seems extreme. There's nothing really in Youtube's rules against what he did, except under the most vague of interpretations. Platforms like this where someone can build their entire business around have too much power - existing laws against monopolies don't really cover new media at all.

R558 Those rules put out by Youtube (and many others) are always purposely vague so they can mean whatever youtube wants when something like this happens. That's pretty standard.

And punishment not as bad as it seems. He still makes ad revenue for his business, but it's the regular amount anyone with a certain amount of views has. Advertisers used to be able to pay extra to specifically put something on his videos alone and obviously that was more money for logan. His income is still well over a million a year with all his projects

He's toxic waste to advertisers now. No one wants him to be associated with his brand. That's why he was removed from YouTube's preferred partner program. This was about YouTube trying to deal with its own issues, not about Paul. If they advertisers didn't give a fuck, nor would have YouTube.

R562 thats not how it works. The whole point of google preferred is that advertisers could CHOOSE to put stuff on his videos.

Normally, if you buy a youtube ad and say you want it to target teens. Youtube will decide what videos they have that are for teens and the video will randomly play over a certain percent of them. For google prefered you could say to youtube "I want my content' on person x's videos only". much more targeted. But still not forced, advertisers could have just dropped those ads. Youtube took away their choice in the matter. Ads will still play on all his stuff. It will just be the same ads everyone else's vids have for his target audience
