She was a talented younger actress. She starred in a movie with John Wayne and Glen Campbell.
Then, POOF! she was gone.
Was it because she was annoying?

I remember her. She did a Star Trek episode then starred with Shatner in some kind of sci-fi movie of the week.

The last time I saw her was in a TV movie in the 80s. She and her husband (played by a smoking hot Barry Bostwick) hire a babysitter for the summer at a rented beach house. The babysitter turns out to be a psycho who is hell bent on replacing Kim Darby as mother to her kids and wife to the smoking Bostwick. I was rooting for the babysitter the entire time.

She was amazing in Halloween 6!

She's hanging out with Catherine Burns and Michael Moriarty.

Her son is singer Terence Trent Darby....tho he uses d'Arby as his stage name.

In fact, they had lunch with Sue Lyon the other day. They all discussed their favorite Joey Heatherton performances.

R8 That's hilarious!
Fun fact: His real name is Terence Howard, but we already have one of those. (with 2 "r"s).

I think her bowl haircut in True Grit caused her to be blacklisted.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | December 31, 2017 6:53 AM |
I think the writing in that movie killed her. The poor character was not allowed to use contractions when she spoke.

John Wayne passionately hated her. She was a drip.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | December 31, 2017 7:07 AM |
The epitome of drip

She was a very limited actress. She had the career her talent warranted.

R17 she looks like Kristy McNichol there

She was in the TV movie that caused me to sleep with the lights on in my room for a month. Bitch!

She played John Cusack's kooky mother in "Better Off Dead (1985)." She also played professor Brooks in "Teen Wolf Too (1987)."

Something traumatic happened.

Yeah, R23, Elliott Gould has a drug freakout and mental meltdown and attacked her, but that was only 1971.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | July 11, 2020 3:10 AM |
Wasn't she married to superhot actor James Stacy, who went on to have more problems than the average DL poster? Or was it Michael Callen? (I always get those two actors mixed up).
If Kim Darby did no other acting than her scene bartering with Strother Martin in "True Grit", it would be enough. I love that scene.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | July 11, 2020 3:18 AM |
Being hated by John Wayne is a compliment.

Nothing that existed before I was born matters.

Eddie Albert Jr cheated on Kate Jackson with Kim Darby -- he really loves them butches!
At the time, the tabloids said Kate caught them together at Albert's beach house. Escadolo!

She became a speed freak
by Anonymous | reply 30 | July 11, 2020 4:32 AM |
She really did become a speed freak.
Here's her wikpedia entry.
"Darby admitted her career declined after the 1970s partly because she became an amphetamine addict.[9]"

She was married to James Stacy. Even had a kid with him--it was a busy year, I guess. What a mess he was, probably rebounding from Connie Stevens who was on her way to Eddie Fisher. Disability, pedophilia, he had it all (Stacy).
by Anonymous | reply 33 | July 11, 2020 4:50 AM |
She was in Halloween 6, the horribly cast hot mess sequel.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | July 11, 2020 4:54 AM |
What does the Stacy-Darby spawn look like?
by Anonymous | reply 35 | July 11, 2020 4:59 AM |
Everything that made her perfect for "True Grit" worked against her in the long run.
Hollywood doesn't have a lot of use for women who aren't beautiful or sexy, and she's so far from sexy that she read as a fifteen-year-old Old Maid. Which is exactly what the script called for, but that schoolmarmish quality confined her to playing teachers and moms for much of her career.

She was a cute kid but not attractive enough to become a lasting star. She acted pretty regularly into her 60s and still gets parts in her 70s.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | July 11, 2020 5:15 AM |
"Wasn't she married to superhot actor James Stacy"
Stacey was a drugged up child molester

R38, I guess if I was a double amputee, it might affect me negatively too.

I'm watching 'The Strawberry Statement' on ITunes tonight.
