by Anonymous | reply 125 | September 19, 2018 1:35 PM |
Sam Elliott was beloved by my female relatives. I could see the appeal but holy crap the middle aged ladies went nuts for him. I think it was his natural masculinity. Some women don't like the "sensitive" type. (and considering some of my relationships, maybe that isn't such a bad idea).
by Anonymous | reply 1 | October 26, 2017 2:51 AM |
Today's equivalent - oh maybe Christopher Meloni. He's just so fucking hot and attractive it doesn't really matter what he's in. Kyle Chandler is the same way for me. BTW, I'm R1 and I can't even remember the name of one Sam Elliott movie. I just remember he was hot.

Road House came out in 1989. A girlfriend (friend only) took me for my 65th birthday because we are both HUGE Patrick Swayze fans. I own every Patrick Swayze film on VHS, (I actually cleaned the store Suncoast, which has since closed, out—buying every Swayze movie they offered, plus some posters). Anyways, Sam Elliot! Whoa, this man is smoldering in this film. The salt and pepper flowing locks? Definitely check out Road House for SAM ELLIOT.

R3, and your are 98? Not trying to offend, just wondering if you were 65 in 1989 or if either of that age or year was a typo.
I'm not sure I ever saw one of Sam Elliott's movies. I was in college when "The Lifeguard" came out in the mid-70s, but I never saw it, even on TV or tape at a later date. I remember both women and gay men talking about how attractive he was in it, though.

Lifeguard also has Parker Stevenson in it who was also hot in it.

They should remake Lifeguard as a gay story.

In 2017, I figure that the 1976 version of him would equal the possibility of a 2017 equivalent. times change. and they will continue to do so. sorry if that hurts anyone in their perception of reality.

by Anonymous | reply 18 | October 26, 2017 3:39 AM |
I figure he is straight enuff that he would not want to see me sucking his cock, which I would do at a variety of ages, and since I don't like anal, that option is out. dammit.

R17, I don't think that's going to happen.
[quote]Sam Elliott defended the dozens of women who have accused disgraced mogul Harvey Weinstein of sexual harassment and assault, calling the movement “the best thing that’s happened to Hollywood in a long time.”

Some of my favorites with him:
Tombstone - love this movie. He plays Virgil Earp
Conagher (TV movie) - western with Katharine Ross
The Quick and the Dead (TV) movie western
The Yellow Rose - TV series with Cybil Shepherd, Edward Albert, David Soul
Travis McGee - TV movie
The Shadow Riders - TV movie - western
The Sacketts - TV 2 part mini series western
and, of course, The Big Lebowski

by Anonymous | reply 34 | October 26, 2017 8:04 PM |
I will preface this story by saying, yes, I am old.
Back when I was in 6th grade or so, HBO was a very fancy thing only a few households had. They only ran programming from say 4:00pm to midnight. If you were a subscriber you got a little square magazine every month to tell you what was on, since the TV Guide didn't list it yet.
For some reason, they would show "Lifeguard" constantly. Probably for little gay boys like me. Since this pre-dated the commonality of VCRs, I would scour the HBO book every month, so I could be sure to watch it every time it was on. Oddly enough, I also watched "SOB" and "Serial" about 100 times each because I thought they were dirty.
We did wind up getting a Betamax VCR a few months later (it was a giant thing with a wired remote you needed a degree in trig to program) and the first thing I recorded was "Lifeguard." MY mothre thought I liked it becuase there was a quick flash of boobs in it, which you could do in a PG movie back then.
It is entirely possible Sam Elliott is the first man I ever masturbated to.

I remember renting The Legacy on VHS as a teen and being so surprised when that scene popped up. Definitely didn't expect it. I remember little else about the movie, but I bought the Blu-Ray just for that scene.

by Anonymous | reply 42 | October 26, 2017 8:19 PM |
I would say the equivalent might be someone like Chris Cooper.
Solid, handsome, masculine actor. Famous enough to get decent parts in big movies or big parts in small movies. Well respected.
Make sense?
by Anonymous | reply 44 | October 26, 2017 8:26 PM |

R35, if you are as old as you say you were in R3, you'd have been born in the 20's. That means you were in 6th grade before WW II. I'm old myself and I was out of graduate school and working as a professional by the time HBO was around. So you may want to tack about 30 years on to your birth year.

Lifeguard confused me. I was a young teen and that was the first summer I became aware that there was such a thing as gay porn. And all the gay porn advertisements looked EXACTLY like Sam in lifeguard. When my friends wanted to go see LifeGuard, I felt sooo dirty.

That was "Murder in Texas"
I think it was a 2 part TV movie. Imdb lists running time as 200 minutes.

There's the TV movie The Shadow Riders where Sam, Tom Selleck and Jeff Osterhage are brothers in post-Civil War America.
Christ what perfect casting... all 3 are hairy, hairy men, each seems to be naturally, casually masculine. There are scenes with them riding horses and they seem to have done that all of their lives.
It's based on a Louis L'Amour novel. I've caught it several times on TV. Of course, Katherine Ross co-stars.

On another site, a guy posted that his father was the PR guy on "Lifeguard". Sam attended a party at their house after a day of shooting and asked to take a shower. The guy spied on Sam in the upstairs shower and was pleased to get a look at his long, thick, cut cock and big low hangers.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | October 27, 2017 10:34 PM |
I still remember a day about 10 or 15 years ago at Gold's Venice when I espied Sam Elliott working out. I waited til he went up to the locker room and discretely followed him to arrive just as he was in the shower. In a word: Something fit for the gods! Huge, thick, cut, beautifully shaped with huge low hangers!

Sam Elliott was pure, unadulterated SEX back in the day. He's all man, no pretense. Married to the same woman for well over 30 years (actress Katherine Ross). He's a man who meets his obligations and keeps his promises. From that stud body, that pseudo low southern drawl (although he's born and raised in California). A walking wet dream.
