Did he have his own zoo, too, R3?

by Anonymousreply 5October 7, 2017 5:59 AM

He looks a little like my first boyfriend, who eventually married one of my college girlfriends.

by Anonymousreply 6October 7, 2017 5:59 AM

Too bad he never did any nudes.

by Anonymousreply 7October 7, 2017 6:07 AM

Met him once. We had mutual friends. No one had a bad thing to say about him. People assumed he was gay (and maybe he was) because most of his friends were.

by Anonymousreply 8October 7, 2017 6:18 AM

He dated EG Daily for a long time, she was really torn up about his death.

by Anonymousreply 9October 7, 2017 7:00 AM

I fell in lust over Jon-Erik Hexum from the show The Voyagers. I loved the time travel, history show. His blue eyes seemed brighter than most! He appeared to be charming. His voice, so deep. I was crushed when I heard of his death. He would of had a long career.

The gene pool jackpot! Everything came together perfectly.

by Anonymousreply 23November 6, 2017 4:48 AM

He's lucky he died young. I can imagine you queens ripping him to shreds for the unforgivable sin of growing old.

"Jon-Eirk Hexum: So beautiful. What happened?"

"What plastic surgery has Jon-Erik Hexum had?"

"Jon Erik Hexum: Who hasn't had him?"

by Anonymousreply 24November 6, 2017 6:55 AM

I hate how right you are, R24.

by Anonymousreply 25November 6, 2017 11:05 AM

From what I've read he apparently was a smart guy too. He didn't live a flashy Hollywood lifestyle at all. This is the home he owned and lived in at the time of his death. He lived in (of all places) Burbank.

by Anonymousreply 28November 7, 2017 1:00 AM

Apparently not, dear.

by Anonymousreply 29November 7, 2017 2:27 AM

R26 That home, or one like it, is probably over a million dollars today. California is much more expensive now.

by Anonymousreply 30November 7, 2017 2:29 AM

The current value of that home is approximately $835,000.00.

by Anonymousreply 31November 7, 2017 2:38 AM

It was sad when he died, it was such a mistake.

by Anonymousreply 32November 7, 2017 2:51 AM

someone asked me if I'd been affected by Heath Ledger's death and I said no, the one I think about is Jon-Erik Hexum.

Beautiful AND Masculine.

by Anonymousreply 33November 7, 2017 2:53 AM

Heath had NOTHING on Jon-Erik.

by Anonymousreply 34November 7, 2017 2:59 AM

R18 R19 wow. Loving the crewcut on him.

On top of his appearance, he had a gorgeous baritone voice as well. No joke, I could fall asleep listening to him read a phone book. It's a crying shame that he never did any voice-over/radio work.

by Anonymousreply 35November 7, 2017 11:45 AM

He was pretty much perfect. What was his nationality?

by Anonymousreply 36November 7, 2017 12:49 PM

He's kind of so-so.

by Anonymousreply 37November 7, 2017 12:51 PM

He was american

by Anonymousreply 38November 7, 2017 12:51 PM

He was of Scandinavian descent. His mother had him when she was well over forty...Scandinavian are nothing if not sturdy.

by Anonymousreply 39November 7, 2017 1:09 PM

r13, probably. I'm sure if he were alive today, he'd have several #metoo stories.

by Anonymousreply 40November 7, 2017 1:20 PM

R35 Merv was creaming his pants talking to Jon-Erik.

by Anonymousreply 41November 7, 2017 1:26 PM

He says in that clip that he was turned down from 'Indiana Jones'.

That's crazy

by Anonymousreply 42November 7, 2017 6:31 PM

He'd probably be littered in tats.

by Anonymousreply 43November 8, 2017 3:49 AM

The thing I find so sexy about him, other than the obvious, is how humble and actually shy he seemed during interviews. He never seemed to get caught up in the Hollywood aura. I don't ever remember hearing a single negative thing about him. He seemed like one of the few who treated acting as a job, not a lifestyle. Once he left the studio he was "off the job", and turned back into a normal human being.

by Anonymousreply 44November 8, 2017 12:03 PM

There’s no way he escaped the casting couch.

by Anonymousreply 45November 8, 2017 11:11 PM

R44, from the social media pages that pay tribute to him, that's the impression I get.

I'm sure Merv would have had him on his show as often as possible, but there were only two appearances I believe.

by Anonymousreply 46November 9, 2017 12:03 AM

I’m sure Merv would’ve liked to have had him as often as possible anywhere.

by Anonymousreply 47November 9, 2017 4:24 AM

I have this poster of him which was very popular at the time.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 48November 9, 2017 4:39 AM

I can't believe he lost the lead role in Summer Lovers to Peter Gallagher. Really?

by Anonymousreply 49November 9, 2017 4:46 AM

R48, such an odd poster, I mean, sure the man didn't take a bad picture, but there are so many better ones. he doesn't have a great smile in this.

But the poster was popular. Joan Collins was asked if she'd date JEH or if she thought he was hot, something like that, and she quipped, "I'm not an armpit person."

I guess she was thinking of this poster.

I believe Spelling wanted Hexum for Dynasty, possibly for the role of Dex Dexter, but it was a 7 year commitment and Hexum was being choosy, I think.

Too bad he didn't take the part. He might still be with us.

"If only..."

by Anonymousreply 50November 9, 2017 6:10 AM

A "great loss"?!?! Really OP? Jesus fucking Christ!!! It's not like he was working on a cure for cancer or AIDS. Or feeding and clothing the homeless, or creating incredible art/music,etc... Your priorities are sad and pathetic.. He was just another pretty bit with no brains...

by Anonymousreply 51November 9, 2017 6:23 AM

And this is exactly why DLers miss him.

That's all it takes here.

Talent, intelligence, personality. None of these things matter on the DL, just pulchritude.

by Anonymousreply 53November 9, 2017 5:07 PM

A beautiful man. Forever young.

by Anonymousreply 54November 9, 2017 5:11 PM

R53, I think we shouldn’t be too condescending about people who are saddened by JEH’s early death. His body and personality were likeable, and there is so much to dislike in this world. There’s nothing wrong with enjoying a little frivolity. You can be glad they curried polio and still be sad about this man’s loss.

by Anonymousreply 55November 9, 2017 5:19 PM

[quote] From what I've read he apparently was a smart guy too.

His manner of death proved otherwise.

by Anonymousreply 56November 9, 2017 5:20 PM

R56 I know this might seem shocking, especially to someone who's either an office drone or an underemployed shut-in, but unintentional injury (many of which are workplace-related, as in this case) is the leading cause of death for males under 44.

by Anonymousreply 57November 9, 2017 6:09 PM

R51, lighten up!

He was a beautiful nice man who would have given years of TV viewing pleasure had he lived.

by Anonymousreply 58November 10, 2017 1:09 AM

His overbite was a turnoff.

by Anonymousreply 59November 10, 2017 1:21 AM

He was an apparently thoughtful, kind guy, who never insulted his gay fans. He certainly knew he had them. He was glorious. RIP, Jon-Erik.

Yes, I was thinking about his overbite last night as I was snuggling up into bed. And I thought that his overbite forced his luscious lips slightly forward. And that it subconsciously triggered me —like Pavlov's dogs— to offer my lips in return.

[quote] but unintentional injury (many of which are workplace-related, as in this case) is the leading cause of death for males under 44.

He fired a prop gun directly into his temple and died when the force of the blank shattered his skull.

That was an idiotic thing to do. Stop pretending otherwise.

by Anonymousreply 69November 10, 2017 6:54 AM

R69, lots of people do idiotic things and sometimes they pay with their lives and sometimes they don't.

JEH did. It's really sad. It's a loss. He seemed gay or gay friendly and it would have been nice for a lot of us (and certainly him) to see where his life would have gone.

by Anonymousreply 70November 10, 2017 6:57 AM

Wow, looks just like miss henry cavill.

by Anonymousreply 71November 10, 2017 7:08 AM

JEH didn’t have an overbite you ninnies.

by Anonymousreply 72November 10, 2017 7:09 AM

Natural selection at work... Took out an idiot who thought a prop gun with blanks was like a cap gun...

by Anonymousreply 73November 10, 2017 8:15 AM

R67

Wow. That Antony Hamilton's butt is more delicious than his face.

(I wonder by what method he succumbed to the Aids virus)

That Antony Hamilton's butt reminds of another Aussie performer who came over but left soon after (Paul Mercurio)

After J-EH explains that he's intimidated by beautiful women, to the surprise of the female interviewer:

Female interviewer: But you're so beautiful!

J-EH: [Uncomfortably] ...Eh-heh-heh... Thank you.

I melted. He seemed genuinely unaffected and matter-of-fact about his appearance. E.G. Daily (aka Tommy Pickles) was a lucky bitch.

r70 if had lived he would be considered an "OLD" here on DL by now at 60yrs

by Anonymousreply 79November 12, 2017 3:41 AM

He was beautiful and put off a humble and shy vibe.

by Anonymousreply 80November 12, 2017 3:42 AM

R78, I know; he did seem humble and sweet.

I work in LA as an entertainment journalist.

I've run into character actors over the years who did guest spots on Voyagers and I'd ask them about JEH, mostly off the record. None of them ever had a bad word to say. It went beyond the standard 'don't speak ill of the dead.' They all had positive memories.

One guy at a party said to me it sounds like the question you're NOT asking is was he gay; and the guy, who knew him, said yes, he was.

But who knows? He was either trying to give me the answer I wanted or he really believed it.

But JEH was just shy of his 27th birthday when he died. Some actors take forever to settle down. Look at Clooney; he became a dad in his mid 50s.

by Anonymousreply 81November 12, 2017 3:43 AM

You sad pathetic desperate bitches think JEH would give a shit about you?!?!? He probably would've become a fundie, remained a closet case, or aged horribly and gotten fat(by DL standards)... Fucking grow up Already and move on...

by Anonymousreply 82November 12, 2017 6:13 AM

[quote]Fucking grow up Already and move on...

That's rich when you've posted THREE times to this thread already, pressed cunt. You sound more invested in JEH than anyone else here. What better advice than your own?

by Anonymousreply 83November 12, 2017 6:36 AM

Anthony Hamilton was gorgeous also. What a great shoe Cover Up was. Hamilton had been a professional dancer prior to Becoming an actor. In addition to the gym his dancing definitely made his body great.

^ yes, I agree he was rather godlike (even if foolhardy around guns).

I looked at the TV interviews above and tried to imagine how he would age and lose his beauty.

He had the strong jawline which would make him eternally handsome. But he had eyes similar to Ryan O'Neal's— who was rather handsome in the 80s but looks rather sad and haggard now.

by Anonymousreply 89November 13, 2017 3:41 AM

Get over it.

Unless you can prove foul play ..... Hmmmmm.

by Anonymousreply 90November 13, 2017 3:45 AM

JEH had a great body in an era when men did not. Not even sex symbols bothered to look this buff.

by Anonymousreply 91November 13, 2017 3:46 AM

I’m still not ruling this out.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 92November 13, 2017 4:16 AM

R91, I think you're confusing the '80s, even its earliest years, with prior decades. Men of Hexum's era did have great bodies.

by Anonymousreply 93November 13, 2017 4:22 AM

R93, I disagree. Can you name three contemporaries with bods like JEH or better?

I think of men like Joe Nameth, Robert Redford, or Burt Reynolds. I know they were earlier but that’s all I can think of. And their bods were nothing.

by Anonymousreply 94November 13, 2017 4:27 AM

JEH died in 1984 at age 26. fyi.

by Anonymousreply 95November 13, 2017 4:28 AM

by Anonymousreply 96November 13, 2017 4:29 AM

I think it’s ok if they get old after 30 years.

Tom Cruise has only started looking old in movies in , perhaps, the last 5 years or so.

by Anonymousreply 97November 13, 2017 4:39 AM

R94, just check out male models starting in the late '70s & compare them to models from earlier years/decades & you'll notice how their physiques were much different.

by Anonymousreply 98November 13, 2017 12:31 PM

Hamilton may have had the 'better' body but if you check out Voyagers! or Making of a Male Model or even his Hotel you can see these great qualities in Hexum: humor, strength, kindness...he was masculine. He had an 'it' factor.

There's really not much else to say. He's gone, has been for a long time, and he left body a small body of work that was for a select audience. He's remember by his friends, family, and a small fan base.

by Anonymousreply 99November 14, 2017 3:20 AM

I fucking love when a guy's chest hair creeps into his suprasternal notch.

Fucking. Love. It.

by Anonymousreply 103November 14, 2017 3:41 AM

by Anonymousreply 104November 14, 2017 3:45 AM

R103, yeah, you're 100% correct. I like guys in Speedos and that's what AH wore in the new Cover Up opening

but Hexum was unparalleled.

by Anonymousreply 105November 14, 2017 4:02 AM

I'm reading The Vanity Fair Diaries written by former V.F editor Tina Brown. She writes that VF was doing a cover story on Joan Collins at the time of Collins' "boyfriend" Jon- Erik's death. They had to change the cover at the last minute because it showed a gun pointed at Joan's head with the tagline "But darling, don't you know I'm bulletproof?" Brown decided, correctly, the cover was in bad taste after Jon-Erik's death.

They used a different photo and changed the tagline to "She rhymes with rich!"

by Anonymousreply 111April 8, 2018 12:56 AM

R26, I thought it was 'Brussels of all places.'

by Anonymousreply 112January 2, 2021 2:40 AM

He was bored. There was a delay. Hexum said "Can you believe this crap?" He picked up a prop gun loaded with "blanks," put it to his head, and pulled the trigger driving a quarter-sized piece of his skull deep into his brain. He suicided himself. A girlfriend came out of the woodwork and bemoaned what might have been. Afterwards, his heart was transplanted into a pimp. End of story.
