90s Female Entertainment Idols: Work Ethic

Which 90s Idol do you model your work ethnic after their own Celeb work ethic? There was nothing like success in the USA in the 1990s. I say REBA: she started in 1975, #1 single in every decade since the 80s, over 50 million albums sold, Movies, TV shows, concert attendance records in the 90s, Broadway accolades and a successful fashion/home goods/beauty line. Hate her or love her-she knows how to navigate the business world and how to stay relevant. And she's worth over $100million now.

Which Showbiz Idol's work ethic do you want to emulate? Who managed to extend out their success better than anyone else?

Reba has probably other than Cher maintained her sanity best. Not offended anyone other than the Dixie Chicks conspiracy theories lovers.

Imagine if Whitney Houston had stayed sober, she would have blown everyone else out of the park!

Love her or hate her, Reba made the most inroads. Sure she used tragedy to get her name out there - but any of those other women would have also. I'd never heard of her until the plane crash that killed her band. Then she was everywhere - on the Oscars, CMT, you name it. For My Broken Heart was a hit album for her and later a bio. She used her wealth to buy a construction company and other enterprises. She's been respectful of traditional country in a way that is endearing.

Bette

These are actually good choices, OP.

I would not describe any of these women as "lazy." But there is a difference between naked ambition and a work ethic, eg, Celine Dion may be ferociously ambitious (or not), but has always had an exceptional work ethic re: consistency of performance and keeping in touch with her fans. OP did not include her, and I'm not a super-fan, but let's give the bitch her due. Moving on:

In descending order: JL Dreyfus, Sandra B, and J Aniston have all had the financial security (at least early on enough) to seek out the unique projects that genuinely interest them. Dreyfus and Bullock have done very well with this strategy and continue on. Aniston.... not so much.

Tina and (perhaps) Cher are way too mature, rich, and happy in their lives to invest in this. (Tina would never compare herself to ANY of these women, frankly.) Cher continues to try to appear relevant (and preternaturally young), but she's long given up seriously competing with younger gals; she's turning into The Wise Elderwoman and is actually one of the few divas who enjoys/welcomes younger women. Which leads us to....

Madge, Bette, Mariah, and Roberts. The aggressive heat and hunger could be identified in outer space!

Bette & Mariah, I suspect, would both be happier hanging out at home in their snugglies eating bon-bons, watching WENDY, but their reps are always on the line, at least in their heads. Or that of their management, or anyone else counting on them for a fat paycheck.

(Can you imagine a Bette/Mariah project? It could be so insanely brilliant that it made HISTORY!)

By contrast, Madge and Julia will go on, endlessly: there's never gonna be satisfaction enough.

Which leaves us with Reba. Adorbs. She has a terrific, highly regarded rep among peers. Aging well.

But I know nothing of her, and care even less.
