Marc Singer

The Beastmaster never did come out did he?

by Anonymousreply 54March 19, 2020 10:17 PM

He is dead OP. Clutch your pearls and lettigo.

by Anonymousreply 1July 28, 2017 2:05 AM

He was hot!

by Anonymousreply 2July 28, 2017 2:11 AM

He's not dead

by Anonymousreply 3July 28, 2017 2:13 AM

Not dead and not gay.

by Anonymousreply 4July 28, 2017 2:22 AM

And not uncut

by Anonymousreply 5July 28, 2017 2:28 AM

Not gay. Knew him decades ago. He may have seen a casting couch or two early on.

by Anonymousreply 6July 28, 2017 2:33 AM

I started crushing on him when he was in that summer series "The Contender". Tina Andrews played his sidekick and he was a boxer. Beautiful man.

by Anonymousreply 7July 28, 2017 2:35 AM

So, spill, R6! Was he as much of an a-hole as the cast of V thought? Tell us everything you know!

by Anonymousreply 8July 28, 2017 2:42 AM

Body of life and butter face and speech impediment.

by Anonymousreply 9July 28, 2017 2:53 AM

He's gotten better as an actor. In another 20 years he'll be adequate, at this rate.

by Anonymousreply 10July 28, 2017 2:58 AM

For some reason, his most satisfying performance was in a Shakespeare classic on PBS. Unforgettable.

No one who saw his spread as Petruchio in After Dark will ever forget him.

by Anonymousreply 12July 28, 2017 3:07 AM

Still alive and didn't age that bad. He's 69.

by Anonymousreply 14July 28, 2017 3:23 AM

Any full frontals? Even though he is likely to be mutilated.

by Anonymousreply 15July 28, 2017 3:29 AM

Didn't he date or marry a transgender person?

by Anonymousreply 16July 28, 2017 3:41 AM

He was married for many years to a Hawaiian actress I believe. He was widowed in 2014.

After a turn as Petruchio, he did some movies and TV. But it was only when he returned to the Bard that he was able to excite audiences again, in Shakespeare's "Beastmaster."

V was my favorite series in the eighties. But I preferred Jeff Yagher to Marc.

by Anonymousreply 19July 28, 2017 4:27 AM

Why are his Nipples so low

by Anonymousreply 20July 28, 2017 4:28 AM

[quote] not uncut

He's Jewish. Why would anyone think he even might be uncut.

by Anonymousreply 21July 28, 2017 4:33 AM

Marc Singer - a beautiful, sexy, boy next door type. Loved looking at him - gave me a nice, subtle sexual feeling.

by Anonymousreply 22July 28, 2017 4:48 AM

Bryan Singer is his cousin.

by Anonymousreply 23July 28, 2017 5:01 AM

Lori Singer is his sister.

[quote] So, spill, [R6]! Was he as much of an a-hole as the cast of V thought? Tell us everything you know!

I am not R6; however, I have an anecdote that I posted on DL years ago:

I interacted with him at Comic-Con. He was in the D-minus List section of the autograph room and [bold]nobody[/bold] was at his table. I was taking notes of all that I was observing – including, him – and he freaked the hell out. He jumped from behind his table and demanded to know who I was, which publication or website I was with, and what I was writing. I looked at him like he was nuts, told him I was taking notes, gave him a dismissive once over, and moved on. I looked back and he was still standing where I had left him and he was watching me. Odd and OTT. Oh, and he looked [bold]rather AWG in person[/bold] (not that I ever thought anything of his looks or him prior to that).

by Anonymousreply 27July 28, 2017 6:52 AM

He was hot in Body Chemistry I.

The butterface oddly didn't detract too much from his raw sexiness.

by Anonymousreply 28July 28, 2017 7:20 AM

R24 I see the resemblance now, obvious now that you mention, thank you. Love Marc, his work, still handsome as ever.

by Anonymousreply 29July 28, 2017 7:36 AM

Bad boycrush on him after I saw him on the PBS "Taming of the Shrew". God, he was beautiful to my eyes and that body was mouthwateringly fantastic. You know when your young and you're hit that hard? It goes in deep and stays a lifetime.

by Anonymousreply 30July 28, 2017 7:46 AM

WEHT Jeff Yagher? Yeagher??

by Anonymousreply 31July 28, 2017 1:26 PM

I quite enjoy this despite being a fan.

Marc Singer was a mighty fine Petruchio in The Taming of the Shrew - not just his physicality but also his delivery of the lines. Great Shakespeare ! In an early interview he said he wanted to play Achilles in Troilus and Cressida but sadly this never happened.

by Anonymousreply 33July 28, 2017 1:32 PM

I can't tell you if you guys are being funny. Marc Singer did Shakespeare!?!?!

by Anonymousreply 34July 28, 2017 3:35 PM

Yup. One of the best of the filmed Shakespeares, Originally done at ACT. Singer was wonderful!

I loved the two V miniseries in the 1980s. The TV series was meh. But Marc Singer was one of the worst actors in the show and he had absolutely no chemistry with Faye Grant. I remember he was on Dallas during the dream season and he was awful in that. I thought I read somewhere once that when they decided to make that whole season a dream, one of the producers said that at least that way they could dispense with Singer's storyline involving Pam, which totally sucked.

by Anonymousreply 39July 28, 2017 6:07 PM

Any why were you "taking notes", R27?

by Anonymousreply 40July 28, 2017 10:31 PM

Say, R36, thanks for the link.

I was glad to see that that Youtube page included a link to a copy of "Kiss Me, Petruchio", the Joseph Papp production of "The Taming of the Shrew" which starred Meryl Streep and Raul Julia.

I saw this years ago on PBS (1981?) and have wanted to see it again.

Thanks.

by Anonymousreply 41July 29, 2017 3:38 AM

I loved The Beastmaster!

by Anonymousreply 42July 29, 2017 3:44 AM

R42 So did I. Marc Singer in all his hunky glory. I think Tanya Roberts from Charlie's Angels was his female co-star.

by Anonymousreply 43July 29, 2017 3:57 AM

Miss Tanya Roberts, as we speak . . .

Terrific thread. Thanks for all the links! I am going to watch the Shrew tonight.

by Anonymousreply 45July 29, 2017 11:11 AM

R6 here. Marc was a genuinely nice guy. He was at ACT in SF and I saw him in many productions. He was Christian in Cyrano with Marsha Mason and Peter Donat. I saw Taming from 6th-row center and he was stunning to look at. He played the romantic lead in You Can't Take it With You with Marsha Mason and DL favorite Mary Wickes. He was classically trained. The rumor was that Bill Ball had him on the couch. Who knows? He was great to look at but never had a gay vibe. And trust me, ACT was full of the gay.

by Anonymousreply 46July 29, 2017 2:56 PM

Thanks, R38, I'll never be able to listen to Wagner again.

by Anonymousreply 47July 29, 2017 3:09 PM

That is some impressive bulge in R36's link. Go to 3:55 mark when she tugs at it. Damn!

by Anonymousreply 48July 29, 2017 3:18 PM

[quote] [R6] here. Marc was a genuinely nice guy.

He was the 2nd biggest asshole I've had the displeasure of having to deal with.

by Anonymousreply 49July 29, 2017 3:19 PM

His performance in Taming of the Shrew left a lasting impression on me. I'd never seen anyone that gorgeous, masculine and built who could play the classics. Sort of like seeing a hunky, trim opera singer - goes against the stereotype. Btw, the Kate in that production was also pretty stellar.

by Anonymousreply 50July 29, 2017 3:44 PM

R38, that's not really him, right?

The Wagner music in the background is hilarious

by Anonymousreply 51July 29, 2017 4:28 PM

Marc Singer is a Canadian, born in Vancouver, British Columbia. I think that's why he has that boy-next-door appeal even though he could be very sexy and hunky.

by Anonymousreply 52July 29, 2017 8:45 PM

He reminded me of Kevin Bacon

by Anonymousreply 53March 19, 2020 10:08 PM

I always thought that the beastmaster dude was Kevin Bacon.
