Which is best?
"The Cleveland Show" is nice and mellow... not angry like "Family Guy."
"American Dad" has a fun sci-fi edge to it and Roger the alien is a lot of fun.
"Family Guy" is pretty topical...

That one he produced, "Borderland," is unwatchable. Just insanely bad. Cancelled, right?
It might have been better if it'd been drawn in the same style as the others.

"American Dad" and "The Cleveland Show" are both set in Virginia. Weird.

I'm hoping for a sex tape! Can't even find a shirtless pic, damn him.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | June 10, 2017 5:57 AM |
Roger is great. Such a fun hypersexual character. "American Dad" is the most homoerotic (lots of hot guys pop up, and Stan admits they're hot and/or Roger hits on them). E.g., "scrumptious" Zack.

I love all the California jokes - Souplantation (Cleveland Show and American Dad), Body Factory (American Dad). etc.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | June 10, 2017 6:00 AM |
The Cleveland Show is comforting. I play it as I go to bed and while I sleep.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | June 10, 2017 6:27 AM |
American Dad is the gayest. So many shirtless guys.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | June 10, 2017 6:33 AM |
American Dad still has solid storylines with relevant humor and gives emotional depth to the characters. The last several seasons of Family Guy have mostly used shock humor with little story or character development.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | June 10, 2017 6:37 AM |
The Cleveland Show had the most heart.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | June 10, 2017 6:41 AM |
Stewie and Roger are bisexual. Interesting...
by Anonymous | reply 12 | June 10, 2017 6:42 AM |
Bordertown, not Borderland.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | June 10, 2017 6:44 AM |
I love American Dad, some of the early seasons are brilliant. Seth apparently based Roger on Paul Lynde, and having multiple personas for Roger allows for so many creative opportunities. I just about fell out the first time I saw Roger in drag, as Laura VanDerbooben, entering to "me so horny".
by Anonymous | reply 14 | June 10, 2017 6:52 AM |
I stopped watching when I started thinking of the characters as real people and caring about them. I thought it wasn't healthy.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | June 10, 2017 9:25 AM |
R15, which show?
by Anonymous | reply 16 | June 10, 2017 9:36 AM |
I'll always love FG but American Dad is superior thanks to Roger. I didn't mind Bordertown but i wasn't surprised when it got cancelled.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | June 10, 2017 4:26 PM |
I always thought he was involved in South Park but google proved me wrong. So I guess that means he hasn't done a Broadway show either? (I thought he was involved in Book of Mormon). That must kill him.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | June 10, 2017 4:49 PM |
R16, Family Guy and Simpsons. But all the good adult cartoons are that way.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | June 10, 2017 4:51 PM |
American Dad always cheers me up. I have Seasons 5-present/12 on Amazon Video, and Seasons 1-4 are on Netflix. I play them all day to keep me kind of not depressed.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | June 20, 2017 6:12 PM |
Did not realize American Dad had that many seasons R21
by Anonymous | reply 22 | June 20, 2017 6:20 PM |
I guffawed when Roger thought Stan was coming on to him so he struck a pose on his bed with a "Come hither" look while Toto's "You Know I Won't Hold You Back Now" played. Ha!
Wish there was a clip.

American Dad has some great musical moments. Love any scene where Steve and Roger work together.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | June 20, 2017 6:29 PM |
R23, after the premiere, they changed the last line of the song. I remember being kind of shocked when I heard the original.
[quote] In an earlier version of the theme song, instead of "my happy mustache face," the line was "my happy black guy face." It was changed to make the song more racially sensitive.

R12 MacFarlane said that Stewie is gay, not bi.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | June 20, 2017 6:31 PM |
I'm waiting for MacFarlane's new show that will be debuting very soon. It's all about an entertainer who is being stalked by an Asian-Canadian healthcare worker.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | June 20, 2017 6:35 PM |
R27 I doubt that since they've written straight storylines for stewie. They do the same for roger.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | June 20, 2017 6:51 PM |
I wonder what his next animated sitcom will. If Orville doesn't, maybe he'll take a break from live action and launch another animated series.

I hate the koala CIA agent guy - the koala with the homeless guy's mind. Reggie. Just sucks.

I like the first one with Homer and Marge and Bart and Lisa and Maggie that he based the other ones on.

American dad hands down.

Greg and Terry are always fun. I enjoyed the episode where they adopted Roger AKA Michael from Russia.

So many shirtless ripped guys on American Dad. Even Jesus in the rapture episode.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | June 21, 2017 4:25 AM |
R42 Jesus was pretty hot in that episode.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | June 21, 2017 1:52 PM |
Roger on the Rapture: Ascent! You're flying now! I hope I haven't missed the part where the three Chinese guys give perfume to the star baby. [laughs] It's like the diaries of a madman!
by Anonymous | reply 45 | June 21, 2017 9:05 PM |
American Dad has a weird, cheery preteen energy about it. The son, Steve, is like its spiritual center.
Family Guy is more angry and cynical at its core.

Klaus the goldfish was always a weak character. A German-accented screaming "bro" is funny? Whatever.

It all sucks compared to Rick and Morty.

American Dad was one of the all time great shows for the best part of a decade. Silly, cultured, and with real heart. It totally went off the rails when one of the co-creators was kicked off a few years ago (around the time they killed off Greg or Terry). The latest season seems to be making a return to form though. I wish I knew how any of that happened. And like someone upthread said, there is something about it that fills my heart and just makes the blues go away. Maybe it’s an idealized version of our suburban childhoods?
by Anonymous | reply 55 | March 9, 2018 5:56 AM |
R55, there's a new season?
by Anonymous | reply 56 | March 9, 2018 6:08 AM |
Thanks, R50.
No laughs in any of his derivative, half-baked, desperate and one-dimensional “humor.”
by Anonymous | reply 58 | March 9, 2018 7:38 AM |
Number one is Bojack Horseman then Bob's Burgers.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | March 9, 2018 10:28 AM |
I've never seen any of his shows (except when he's singing or on Bill Maher), but I want to fuck him. Cute and smart.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | March 9, 2018 2:28 PM |
Stewie was brutal to the psychologist tonight on Family Guy! Fuck! It was like a DL thread about rich instagays "come to life".
Anyone else watching? Poor Stewie.

Good songs on American Dad.
Majestic by Wax Fang.

r47, yeah, he's the only character that never really worked on the show for me.
Roger will go down as one of the greatest television creations ever. He is comedic gold and is pretty much DL incarnate.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | March 19, 2018 4:13 AM |
That was a very weird show R61. Uncomfortably weird.
I came to really appreciate Steve on "American Dad" upon second viewings of the show. He was very funny and for some reason I didn't notice it at first watch. Roger was too bloody brilliant. Loved him.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | March 19, 2018 4:21 AM |
I loved tonight's family guy. I have a darker sense of humor, so maybe it's why I didn't find it weird or uncomfortable.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | March 19, 2018 4:35 AM |
