Tonight while watching "What's My Line" Arlene says "I live at 32 east 64th street, New York"

What was that like in 1956?

by Anonymousreply 1May 14, 2017 9:24 AM

No, that was Arlene's house not Dorothy's

by Anonymousreply 2May 14, 2017 9:30 AM

Is that where Arlene's maid dropped a dumbbell from a window, killing a pedestrian below?

by Anonymousreply 4May 14, 2017 10:22 AM

Near Central Park. That must have been where the accident happened. The maid had used a dumbell to prop open a window.

by Anonymousreply 5May 14, 2017 10:35 AM

Was the maid "let go."

Is her hippie son still amongst ys?

by Anonymousreply 6May 14, 2017 1:20 PM

Arlene's son, Peter Gabel.

Separated at birth?

Is Arlene Francis also Annie Leibovitz's mother?

by Anonymousreply 8May 14, 2017 2:38 PM

OMG! What happened to her son?

by Anonymousreply 9May 14, 2017 2:39 PM

The son was taking Arlene to an assisted living facility after her dementia worsened. As they were going thru the airport, Arlene( in a wheelchair), asked Peter, "Are we dressing for dinner?"

by Anonymousreply 10May 14, 2017 2:53 PM

Does Arlene's son have a gaping hole he calls his vagine?

by Anonymousreply 11May 14, 2017 3:05 PM

Is he related to trump's doctor?

by Anonymousreply 12May 14, 2017 3:08 PM

East 68th St. is much classier. Even if our building is underwater.

by Anonymousreply 15May 14, 2017 5:24 PM

I wonder if it looked like that WAY back in the 50s? Do you think Dorothy and Bennett had better homes?

by Anonymousreply 16May 14, 2017 6:32 PM

Are you all aware that my husband Martin won a Tony Award?

Arlene Francis Hurt in Crash; Woman in Second Auto Killed; 4 Others Injured in Accident on Northern State Parkway --Actress Alone in Car

LAKE SUCCESS, L.I., May 26--Arlene Francis, the actress, was injured in a collision in which a woman was killed and four other persons were hurt today on the Northern State Parkway.

by Anonymousreply 18May 14, 2017 7:45 PM

Oh Jesus. I hadn't seen Peter since he went to Deerfield Academy 50 years ago. He was nice but creepy looking then, now ho looks like an old woman.

Bennett and Phyllis Cerf lived in a gorgeous NYC townhouse, which Phyllis continued to live in after Bennett’s death and when she married former NYC Mayor Robert Wagner.

Are you aware a Tony award is like winning a red ribbon in the fifth grade sack race?

by Anonymousreply 22May 18, 2017 5:38 PM

You bitches are slipping. THIS is Arlene Francis's "Home."

The OP said 1956 she either moved or has two homes.

[quote] Is that where Arlene's maid dropped a dumbbell from a window, killing a pedestrian below?

No, that happened when she and Martin Gabel were living at the Ritz Tower on Park Avenue.

by Anonymousreply 25May 18, 2017 6:06 PM

32 East 64th Street is also known as the Verona. It was Kitty Carlisle Hart's last home before she died. She moved there from Upper Park Avenue after Moss Hart died. Mike Wallace also lived at the Verona at one time. During the 1950s it was considered one of the most chic places to live. It was close to trendy restaurants and nightclubs and a short distance from most television studios of the day which made the Verona popular with the more sophisticated celebrities.

by Anonymousreply 26May 18, 2017 6:11 PM

I always associate Arlene Francis with the Ritz on 57th street. When did she move from the Verona to the Ritz? And I wonder why?

John Daly on the other hand, mentions in a 1965 broadcast that he was living at the Imperial House. Also home to Joan Crawford and Liza Minnelli.

I just can't imagine him with cheap parquet, low ceilings and being able to hear the neighbor's toilet flush.

by Anonymousreply 27May 18, 2017 6:23 PM

I don't understand why anyone would choose to live at the Imperial House, unless no other building would let them in.

by Anonymousreply 28May 18, 2017 7:07 PM

We adore Imperial House :)

by Anonymousreply 29May 18, 2017 7:07 PM

CNN head Jeff Zucker now lives in Kitty Hart's former apartment. Arlene lived at the Ritz Tower at 465 Park Avenue for many years. That is where the accident happened.

Although they look kind of dinky today, in the late 40s through the 60s those white brick modern buildings had an allure: clean, airy, well heated, air conditioned, draft free, expansive windows with lots of light, balconies.

Plus: The Imperial House has a driveway and that's rare in NYC and quite a convenience. It was all a part of being modern.

Speaking of Arlene Francis- I helped an old confused lady cross Park Ave and 57th Street in the 1980's- w hy do I remember it? Because when we got to the front door of her building a doorman rushed out and called her Mrs Gable and I thought Holy shit that's Arlene Francis..true story.

by Anonymousreply 32February 10, 2018 9:48 PM

About when in the '80s was that, R32. I vaguely remember reading something about her condition in the early '80s & was surprised at the reporting around her death in the late '90s that her condition was of more recent vintage.
