After a mentally deranged woman broke into her parents home and woke her sister up at knifepoint demanding to talk to her (Malin) and she stabbed their mother in the hand, she was never the same. She always said that she wanted to sing but didn't want to be a singer.

Her brother Jonas did say that she suffered from agoraphobia for awhile. During their 1995 tour, she hoped on a plane and didn't return. She had a breakdown. It was then that they came up with a plan to phase her out. It was Clive Davis that destroyed her. He demanded that she be upfront when they signed to Arista. Before that, her and her sister shared equal singing duties. For their third album, Malin had a political song she wanted to include on the album. She was not into the pop stuff. She gave a big statement to the suits but they weren't moved and said no. That was the final straw for her. Mega Records, their main European label was all set to give her a solo deal if she wanted it. Then the song "Evetytime It Rains" happened. Her sister Jenny sang it. Clive Davis heard it and said "No, no, I want the blonde!" He didn't even know their names after winning tons of awards and selling millions of albums. Malin was furious but gave it. She flew in, said that they would get one take and that was it. Mega Records always lied to fans and other labels saying Malin was still an equal partner or coming back but it simply wasn't true. She was locked into a contract. They recorded again in 2005 for an album that didn't happen. That's the last time Malin recorded with them.

Today, Malin changed her named, first and last, she lives in the same neighborhood as her brother Jonas. They're extremely close. She's not married. Doesn't have kids. She's no longer a blonde. Jonas says you wouldn't even recognize her now. Perhaps she's fat? He said that Jenny and Malin celebrated his 50th birthday last week and all sung together.

She became terrified after a crazy fan broke into her house and held her and her parents hostage with a knife. After that, she progressively retired from public life - even appearing blurred and out of focus on album covers and promotional pictures. She was done with being famous.

Jenny stayed with the band and they continued with Ace of Base (without Linn) into the 2000s. There was a falling-out, though, when Jenny released a solo album and Jonas and Ulf hired two young, attractive females to make a new Ace of Base album without consulting her. I think it even went to litigation since she was a founding member and should have been a part of any decisions about the band. I guess they've worked it out though if she was at his birthday and sang with him and Linn.

The song on their second album The Bridge called Whispers in Blindness was written by Linn. The lyrics suggest that she was raped by a boyfriend, which could also explain her pathological need for privacy and her enormous weight gain. This poor woman was completely objectified by so many gross male fans.
