I've been looking for a good, durable brand of boxer brief but there are so many options it's hard to choose.
Who makes the best underwear?
by Anonymous | reply 98 | August 21, 2020 2:50 PM |
I can't believe people still buy commercial underwear. It's so lazy and nasty. A good tailor and top fabrics can make you feel like a kind AND a queen.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | February 25, 2017 2:42 AM |
I prefer Jockey, I know a lot of people are into underwear and want all sorts of styles and colors. I just want a nice white brief with a nice feel, and Jockey seems to use better cotton than most brands like Hanes or FTL.

What's a good brand of boxerbriefs?
by Anonymous | reply 7 | February 25, 2017 4:15 AM |
How much do you want to spend on each pair?
by Anonymous | reply 8 | February 25, 2017 4:24 AM |
No underwear is durable. They all need to be replaced after six months or so. Nothing worse than going home with a hot guy to find out he's wearing sad, saggy, pill-ridden old underwear.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | February 25, 2017 4:24 AM |
I don't want to spend a small fortune per pair R8 but I'd pay for quality.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | February 25, 2017 7:14 AM |
Thats not very specific. Here in Geneva its 10 bucks for boxers at H&M - and the Beckham ones are actually pretty good - or 80 bucks for Zimmerli which are also good to great. So how much do you want to spend?
Born lower middle class, I just can't spend the 50-100 bucks that quality boxers cost. That said, I have Sulka boxers from the 80s, the 80s! - that are still going strong. So you do get what you pay for.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | February 25, 2017 1:02 PM |
Under Armour but we may be boycotting them
by Anonymous | reply 12 | February 25, 2017 2:37 PM |
Not the best, but still pretty good: Uniqlo. Five bucks a pair, mostly cotton, but with enough stretchy thread to hang well.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | February 25, 2017 3:14 PM |
R1 Can you recommend a good tailor?
by Anonymous | reply 14 | February 25, 2017 3:23 PM |
I bought a pair of Sheath underwear boxer briefs to see what they were like and now I wear them every day. They have a pouch for your plums and a new model with a separate pouch for your banana.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | February 25, 2017 4:32 PM |
ridiculous. but now I'm wondering if its useful?
by Anonymous | reply 16 | February 25, 2017 4:41 PM |
I used to buy them from Abercrombie in the 90s... and & they original ones are still better quality than any brand that is made now (though the same can probably be said for a lot of clothes from 20 yrs ago). I don't wear those pairs anymore, and they stopped making them in the 2000s (or changed them to some inferior material / quality). So, long story short, I found the next best thing is Polo.

I've tried all different brands and always go back to Calvin Klein--the cut is the most comfortable for me

Yes, Oprah.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | February 25, 2017 5:48 PM |
I like the trunk cut boxer brief and they are so hard to find. I cannot figure out the need for all the extra fabric to go half way down to my knee with most boxer briefs. And I hate regular briefs and boxers.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | February 25, 2017 6:04 PM |
The ones with the hang free design.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | February 25, 2017 7:15 PM |
I'd be will to spend up to 20 to 25 per pair.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | February 25, 2017 10:42 PM |
It's been years since I bought a new pair, but Banana Republic's briefs were pretty good.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | February 25, 2017 10:58 PM |
R21 I look for trunks too

Who makes the best flyless boxer briefs?
by Anonymous | reply 26 | February 26, 2017 1:47 AM |
I agree that I always go back to Calvin Klein. They fit me the best for the price. I know longer wear the all-white briefs I (and every other gay man) wore in the 80s and 90s, though--I wear superlight boxer-briefs.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | February 26, 2017 1:49 AM |

What's the most durable material for underwear and who uses it the most?
by Anonymous | reply 34 | March 6, 2017 3:47 PM |
I like Aussiebum or Diesel- they're comfy and stylish. Like R31 said- they last forever. I usually throw them away because it seems weird to keep underwear for more than a year (I don't know why), but they're always in perfect condition when I get rid of them.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | March 6, 2017 3:54 PM |
what happened to that brand that was supposed to provide more "support" for larger guys?

Don't throw them away. Donate them to the poor like we do and take a tax write-off.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | August 27, 2017 1:44 PM |
Mack Weldon run about $30 a pair, but they fit great and they last.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | August 27, 2017 1:49 PM |
Men shouldn't wear underwear. It's unnatural.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | August 27, 2017 1:50 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 43 | August 27, 2017 1:57 PM |
I'm way past their demographic, but I swear Old Navy's boxers are the best. Affordable, fun patterns, last for a while but not forever. Wearing a pair right now.
All white 100% cotton boxers are hard to find. Tommy Hilfiger makes them and they can be found at Macy's.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | August 27, 2017 1:59 PM |
I've learned three lessons when buying underwear:
1. Don't buy white. White becomes dingy within a couple weeks. No amount of bleaching makes them as crisp white as when you bought them.
2. Lycra is the best. A cotton/lycra blend both breathes and doesn't bunch. It keeps it's shape for a lot longer and doesn't become stretched out. Bamboo fiber can be a very soft, breathable and comfortable alternative, as well.
3. Price does not equate to quality. Fashion underwear usually isn't worth the money. It is often poorly made and loses its shape quickly. It does look the best when new. Sizing also runs a bit small (whereas the cheaper brands like Jockey or Fruit 'o Loom run gigantic). Many of the fashion brands aren't even owned by the main corporate brand - like Calvin Klein which explains why their quality and selection has varied so dramatically over the years.

Microfiber is best
by Anonymous | reply 46 | August 27, 2017 2:52 PM |
Any gay man in Jockey or Hanes underwear needs to be shot at dawn. Truly pathetic that gay men could lack the self esteem to wear decent underwear.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | August 27, 2017 2:56 PM |
[quote]Microfiber is best
Depending on how much microfiber, it performs essentially the same role as lycra.
Without cotton, all microfiber underwear is like wearing athletic apparel for underwear - though comfort is by definition a personal issue.

[quote]Any gay man in Jockey or Hanes underwear needs to be shot at dawn. Truly pathetic that gay men could lack the self esteem to wear decent underwear.
While I haven't worn or bought either brand since I began buying my own underwear, they serve their purpose and function fine. I'd rather someone wear either brand than none at all which is revolting when you consider exactly why people wear underwear.
Truly pathetic and sad that a gay man needs to spend ridiculous amounts of money on fancy underwear to have self-esteem.
Who's more pathetic, the guy wearing plain underwear or the guy who bought into the marketing hype by advertisers.

I buy 100% cotton boxer briefs in various colors and by various brands -- NO HANES.
Was a loyal Hanes buyer for many years but Hanes underwear has drastically fallen in quality sine the good ole days Inspector 12.

Marks and Spencer, the underwearier of the UK.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | August 27, 2017 3:28 PM |
If you are fit and muscular, get rid of cotton underwear. They are making underwear form fitting fabrics such as microfiber that really showcase the buff athletic physique. The fitted snug fabrics also are great for athletic performance, drying, sports compression.

Mack Weldon underwear feels incredible

Ralph Lauren underwear lasts forever. I still have white cotton briefs that are 10 years old. All of the Ralph Lauren clothing lasts forever. Very well-made product.

I tried the Mack Weldon briefs but the leg openings were too big and underelasticized and my balls kept falling out. Same with an expensive pair of Krakatoa that I bought. Nice material but the fit was terrible.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | August 27, 2017 6:45 PM |
OP, mypakage and Calvin klein are the best and most fashionable men's underwear that don't cost a whole ton. I've purchased both mypakage and SAXX and mypakage are more durable and comfortable.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | August 27, 2017 6:55 PM |

Mack Weldon at about $25/pair fit perfectly, last for months, and actually make my middle aged ass look pretty good. The miracles of good cotton and just a touch of elastic.

by Anonymous | reply 77 | August 31, 2017 1:18 AM |
I thought that too, but you have to get new underwear every year. Good underwear could last you ten years.
by Anonymous | reply 78 | August 31, 2017 1:38 AM |
Given that the response to "where do I buy a fashionable polo shirt" were heavy on the "JC Penney and Lands End have good durable fabrics with lots of room" type responses, I'd look at this thread as an example of what NOT to wear.
by Anonymous | reply 80 | August 31, 2017 2:04 AM |
I always go back to the 100% cotton Calvin Klein boxer briefs. I have tried everything, the worst ones are the ones with cotton and spandex mix, the spandex seems to break down and you are left with holes all over. For value, I find Fruit of the Loom or Hanes pretty decent. I'm old enough now to not give a shit about sexy or trendy underwear.

Bag o' whatever reasonable brand of white cotton undies are on special at Wal-Mars.
White+cotton=hot water and bleach. I want CLEAN underwear. If they come out dingy, you need to call the Culligan Man. I have no confidence in (or time for) a bucket of multi-hued frillies soaking in Woolite.
Does everything have to descend into swanking and tastemaking with you gals? Underwear? Given the DL demo', it's not likely anyone's going to be seeing them anyway.

Hey all. Please do not trash old but still usable underwear and socks just because of you are tired of them. Throw them in a bag and drop them off in Goodwill box or a nearby homeless shelter. This goes for shoes, clothing, sheets and towels you no longer need too.
