The soap digests and weeklys pretty much outed actors in their interviews. There were always the ones who were really artistic- who painted and were into the arts big time and were single. It didn't take a lot to connect the dots.

Just watched Will/Paul bed scenes on YT and they did a lot more than Will/Sonny. Freddie's triple chins and gut obviously limit what they want shown. Even if Freddie slimmed down, Will and Sonny have no chemistry. The gay theme of the show was lost when Chris Sean left.

Used to be knee deep in the soap world when I started out - Back when there were 6 shows taped on the West Coast. Who was gay or a lesbian was pretty much an open secret. None of em really hide it. Every press person knew who was, who was not, what to talk about what not to talk about. The funny part was the producers were often clueless, unless they were also gay. I remember when Ricky Martin was on GH and the network I worked for ( you can exclude ABC lol) kept saying "we need a ricky martin type where can we get one?" and I would laugh and say "have you tried WeHo?" and I would get blank looks.

I believed that Strudel was gay on DOOL. His sex scenes with Paul were the most convincing gay scenes I ever saw in my life, outside of porn (and even more convincing than a lot of porn). Strudel was a great bossy bottom, riding Paul's bat to ever greater heights of pleasure.
