Cillian Murphy
Is anyone else here a fan? I've always been captivated by his thin frame and his beautiful blue eyes. He reminds me a little bit of Sissy Spacek.
I've been obsessed with him since "28 Days Later."
What has he been up to lately? I haven't seen him in any movies or on television.

I watched the first season of Peaky Blinders, but I just couldn't get through the second. It became too corny and OTT (Tom Hardy might have had something to do with that, now that you mention him.) Has there been a third?

R28 They brought in a lot of new characters in the second season and it became harder to follow, very convoluted with the introduction of the horseracing, etc. Hardy was definitely a nuisance in this. He's terrible. There's a third season on Netflix.

The 3rd season of Peaky Blinders was a bit weak, but overall it was good. Tom Hardy IS very hammy, but entertaining as hell. Cillian is good, but so are Helen McCrory, the actor that plays the older brother and the cousin (now on Animal Kingdom). Overall, he's a good actor, though I agree with the poster that said that his best roles are when he's shiny and pretty - he doesn't really seem to fit the rough mariner type he played in Heart of the Sea

I live not too far from him in Monkstown, County Dublin. He's very low-key and assuming, picks up his kids from the local primary (elementary) school. Up close (as on the screen) he is movie-star stunning. There is no real paparazzi culture here in Ireland so people mostly leave him alone. A neighbo(u)r of mine who has children was star-struck when her kids had a playdate at Murphy's house. Not much to report in the way of gossip, sorry.

Haven't seen Dunkirk yet, how much screen time does Cillian get? I doubt it's much since his character is listed as "Shivering Soldier."
I remember over a decade ago when it looked like his career was building up so much momentum with Batman Begins, Red Eye, 28 Days Later, Inception etc. then it fizzled out just as quickly. Which I'm sure he is fine with, since he's made it pretty clear that he's not into fame and stardom. Pretty disappointing for those that enjoy his work though, it just seems like a lot of wasted potential. At least he seems to be working steadily.

He has been very unlucky in his choices of projects. With the exception of the Nolan films that he's been part of, nothing seems to do well. He's like Casey Affleck in that way. He just needs the right role to show off his skills and he'll win all the awards.

I saw an interview with him on Colbert that was downright awkward. Yeah, Colbert's questions were bad (do you have Lucky Charms in Ireland?} but Murphy seemed very unwilling to play along a.t all. Maybe he's a talented guy that's unwilling or unable to do the kind of schmoozing you have to do to be an A-List type (see also Hardy, Tom, though he's not grumpy & rude like Tom)

[quote] Yeah, Colbert's questions were bad
[quote]I think he was just put off by Colbert's stereotyping
Colbert is a comedian. He's supposed to ask silly questions. If it was a serious talk show and the host started asking things like, "So you eat lots of potatoes right?" or "What's the longest you ever went without a drink," Etc. etc. that would be different. The awkwardness stems from Cillian's deep dislike of fame and interviews, and just him having a stick up his ass in general (which is apparent in other interviews)

Would the assholes who use shit abbreviations such as "OTT" kindly go back to their lazy social media pens? The only abbreviation acceptable here is "DL," used with either of two meanings.
Invariably, these posters show themselves to be shallow fools with the rest of their posts. An example is the person who thought Season 2 of PEAKY BLINDERS was "OTT" because of Tom Hardy. If you're too stupid to understand the genre you're watching and then complain because it's not what it's not intended to be, you need to go back to sixth grade. If you're not still in it.

R85, Murphy and JRM were never close friends--just friendly. There are photos of them at a couple of events many years ago, but they have never worked together and aren't close. I suppose there is a kinship as both are actors from Cork and are close in age (something in the Cork water producing femme beautiful petite actors with gorgeous blue eyes and impossible cheekbones!). They are both connected to Colin Farrell--I'm not sure if they are still close, but Murphy and Farrell met early in their careers and were/are good friends. JRM has worked with Farrell a couple of times too. JRM has said good things about Farrell and Murphy, both as actors and people. But he's also said he's not really truly friends with fellow actors--that there's a close but slighly faux atmosphere on set but once it's done, people move on.
From what JRM has said, it sounds like he and Farrell, if they run into each other, can pal around and shoot the breeze, but otherwise they don't run in the same social circles. Farrell did go to JRM's mother's funeral though. I wonder if part of it is because (supposedly) Farrell really did clean up and go it together whereas JRM continues to struggle with sobriety. They both partied really hard on Alexander and both went through rehab afterwards. It seemed Farrell took it seriously and went through a longterm program whereas JRM has flitted in and out of rehab for over the years.
I thought Murphy was hot in 28 Days with the ultra-skinny look but was completely disappointed when I saw what he looked like at his normal weight. I'm not quite sure what it is as I'm totally gaga for JRM, but Murphy just doesn't do it for me. Even though he's a far better actor than JRM to boot. I think Murphy as aged well for a pasty pretty Irish guy though.

R115 Any "heterosexual" man who is attracted to a man dressed in drag is a latent homosexual. He looks like a mtf trani in that gif. There is nothing actually feminine about his face, only gay men seem to think this but that's because they are already attracted to masculine faces so you can put lipstick on arnold swachnegger and they would call him feminine. He looks about as feminine as patrick swayze in to wong foo. He has certain androgynous features but overall a masculine face, especially the lower half of his face. He has a very strong jaw and large gap between nose and upper lip which is a masculine trait. No one would ever mistake him for a real woman, not even with makeup and a wig.

I think he’s so beautiful and angelic. His beauty is mysterious and frightening in a sense, somewhat like elves in the Lord of the Rings.

First saw him in Intermission. He was brilliant. A work of art.
A beautiful doll in Inception.
I also recommend How Harry Became a Tree, where he plays a virgin.

Breakfast on Pluto is a fantastic film and he is outstanding as "Kitten". I saw him on the street in Dublin once. Beautiful eyes for sure!

The prettier the man, the uglier the fraus. This one has been stalking him for years.
R130, a mixture of Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Connelly?

Has anyone seen Aloft? The story is sick, but for the three hot scenes excluded from the DVD version (sorry, that's the best I managed to find)
