Which are your favorite Fiona Apple songs?
She has some wonderful moments in her discography and some of her collaborations with other artists are also fantastic. I dislike many of her songs, though, because i find them too pretentious. So it was bound for me to leave out of this poll some of her popular songs, simply because i detest them.
Ok, you can nag if you want, just share your favorites with the rest of us.

She looks like Emily Blunt.

I found "Criminal" to be very silly and grating back in 1996 but I loved "The First Taste" and "Shadow Boxer".

Criminal. The video looks like an old fart captured a twinkette namely Ms Apple.

I love that song R8. I just cringe a bit when other artists cover The Beatles. However, Fiona's rendition is okay, certainly.
R5, we feel the same, sorry R6, my amusing friend...:P

R9 I hated Shadowboxer. It was MOR faux Elton John fodder. As per Criminal, it's all good. Not everyone can like the same songs.

Yeah, to each their own, tom cat.

I like "Fast As You Can".

Of the ones on this list, I love "Waltz" and "Oh well". "I Know" may be my all-time favourite of hers. Or "Paper Bag". She has a lot of great songs. Did a full-length version of "Container" ever materialise?

r13, you and I have similar tastes, I was just about to sing the praises of 'I'll Know' and 'Paper Bag'. Another favourite is 'Fast As You Can'. She's one of the few artists where I can listen to an album all the way through and find something to admire about each track.

I don't know how you leave "Criminal" off the list, OP. Shame on you.

I know it's cool to not like her most popular song but "Criminal" is my favorite.

the ocean theme song of the affair

That's 'Container', R18.
R13, no, as far as i know.
R17, it doesn't matter to me if a song is popular, or not if i like it.
Thank you all for sharing your favorite songs. Have a nice day!

I don't care for her music but I love her speech at the VMA when she was like "This is bullllllshit!" with her hair all slicked down with Wesson oil, LOL.

R11 Thanks for acknowledging the PAW in the GLBTPAW community. Transcats love Apple's music. Even real cats. Real cats go nuts when they hear Paper Bag.

So agree r8. It's not her song but the context of the song within the movie worked and took it to a whole different level.

Her version of Johnny Mercer's "Why Try To Change Me Now" is gorgeous.

Rare bird. I think she lives wth her mom. Could have been a millionaire sellout. But alas, you don't see her in herbal essence commercials.

Great broad, for sure, R31.
I liked both the video and the song R30. Merci.

Paper Bag is genius. This is a video of her singing it live but the official music video is cute.

This is my favorite song by her. If I ever get married, it'd be the song I'd want to dance to with my husband.

Pfffft. In DL's dreams R37. She has plenty of money and seems to live a quiet life in seclusion aside from occasionally touring.
