Who does Hillary care about?

Who will her presidency be for?

by Anonymousreply 50September 14, 2020 3:58 AM

It will be for the same people who have bankrolled the electoral campaigns of every other president since the 1970s, and made sure that the neoliberal system would be aggressively imposed not only in the US, but the whole world, by bringing Reagan to power: corporations and their boards of directors, people who appear in Forbes magazine's annual wealthiest list, insurance companies and the armament industry.

The only difference this time is that before, it was a black man who used the words "equality", "solidarity", "social justice" and "change" a lot, while curtailing people's freedoms, destroying the environment, continuing the Middle Eastern war covertly (the American army is back in Iraq "fighting" ISIS, who incidentally were trained using US army tactics, have French, German and American weaponry and whose leaders come from the US and Europe) and selling their future to his corporate masters through TiSA, TTP and TTIP. Now, it will be a woman whose political record clearly shows that she is a corporate capo whose ideology is aligned to most Republicans in terms of economic and social policy, but claims to be "left wing" and "for the people" because she is THIRSTY for the presidency.

So yes, emotionally blackmailing the American electorate has been very effective, because Obama has been, and Clinton will be, so incredibly different from the two Bush presidents, Reagan and yes, the incredibly dishonest Bill Clinton. So, there you have your answer: that's what Hillary Clinton will be like.

by Anonymousreply 1August 8, 2015 2:09 PM

You know, people see what they want to see when they look at a candidate, and that is certainly true for the Sanders' supporters. He says all these wonderful things but gives no indication of how he intends to accomplish these things. What important legislation has he passed? How does he work with the crazy Republicans? What are his qualifications with regard to the world stage?

The same group who elected Obama are now supporting Sanders and they are dazzled by the romance but have no idea of the reality.

Clinton doesn't present herself as a demagogue. Looking on her past achievements, she has shown she can work with a very difficult Republican party, and for all intent and purposes, she really hasn't lied or misrepresented her positions.

Get real.

Either way, Sanders A+ rating from the NRA is a dealbreaker for me. He might as well have an endorsement from the KKK. The lack of ability and/or intellect to address responsible gun ownership has now become a liability for this country and hopefully soon a liability for the politicians.

by Anonymousreply 2August 8, 2015 2:27 PM

she loves her night life, she likes to boogie

by Anonymousreply 3August 8, 2015 2:34 PM

[quote]and for all intent and purposes, she really hasn't lied or misrepresented her positions.

Please tell me you're joking. She is the most dishonest person in American politics.

by Anonymousreply 4August 8, 2015 3:00 PM

Herself.

by Anonymousreply 5August 8, 2015 3:09 PM

r5 nailed it

by Anonymousreply 6August 8, 2015 3:11 PM

Every single person who runs for president is primarily doing it just because they want to be president. Everyone runs for president for themselves. That is just the reality.

These are ambitious people and being the President of the United States is the most important office you can attain, it guarantees your name will do down in history.

by Anonymousreply 7August 8, 2015 3:29 PM

I want a very competent administrator like Bill Clinton was. I'm fed up with Americans who want a Messiah (Obama) or a guy they want to have a beer with (Dubya).

Hillary will be boring but fine.

by Anonymousreply 8August 8, 2015 3:35 PM

I'd still love to know how Sanders plans on accomplishing that eleven step program he trotted out a few months ago. When a moderate like Obama who spent a great deal of time appeasing the Republicans still had obstruction (even from members of his own party) the notion that Sanders is going to come in and get everything accomplished with no problem is sad. I would say laughable, but with several Supreme Court justice positions up in the coming years. There's nothing funny about any of it.

It's like Trump, all buzzwords but no substantial plans, no groundwork for anything. I just hope Sanders has the common sense to comb that fucking hair before the debates.

by Anonymousreply 9August 8, 2015 3:49 PM

Hillbot has written how many of these posts himself?

by Anonymousreply 10August 8, 2015 3:57 PM

"Who will her presidency be for?"

Haim "Nuke Iran" Saban, unfortunately.

by Anonymousreply 11August 8, 2015 4:07 PM

Republicans want the kind of Government they feel that Republicans deserve- a government where they can channel all of the tax dollars into their own pockets.

Democrats want the kind of Government that protects folks from the Republicans.

by Anonymousreply 12August 8, 2015 4:10 PM

R12, that must be why Hillary's and Jeb's biggest donors are all the same.

Clinton’s top 10 cumulative donors between between 1999 and 2016 were, in descending order, Citigroup ($782,327), Goldman Sachs ($711,490), DLA Piper ($628,030), JPMorgan Chase ($620,919), EMILY’s List ($605,174) Morgan Stanley ($543,065), Time Warner ($411,296), Skadden Arps ($406,640), Lehman Brothers ($362,853) and Cablevision Systems ($336,288).

I believe in Hillary. She could be one of the bet presidents ever, and that threatens the straight, white male ego.

Hillary cares about children, women, the poor and education.

by Anonymousreply 14August 8, 2015 4:21 PM

Best not bet

by Anonymousreply 15August 8, 2015 4:21 PM

Hillary was a Republican in college and hasn't changed her position one bit. If you vote for her that's what you'll get: a Nixon Republican.

Meanwhile the R's have moved so far to the right that Nixon Republicanism looks left-wing.

by Anonymousreply 16August 8, 2015 4:23 PM

Sanders campaign will wind up unraveling after the first debate. The NRA, black lives matter, his silence on planned parenthood, the accusations of him being a socialist will all be addressed. Add to that his cranky temper and his supporters trashing everyone and everything that doesn't adore him and that will pretty much finish things for him.

by Anonymousreply 17August 8, 2015 4:24 PM

She's Nixon in a pants suit.

by Anonymousreply 18August 8, 2015 4:32 PM

But Nixon would be called a socialist today R18. He supported civil rights. He increased social security and medicare. He taxed high income earners. That's how far right the USA has been dragged.

Spying on the opposition? Obama and Bush do a thousand times worse every day and called it national security.

by Anonymousreply 19August 8, 2015 4:36 PM

R16, she fought a tough election her first term as NY senator. She easily won her second term. She's the real deal, and her constituents love her. She's the anti-Nixon. She's Hillary Clinton in a pants suit, and her success, intelligence and power scare the hell out of you because you have small balls

by Anonymousreply 20August 8, 2015 4:36 PM

[quote]Hillary was a Republican in college and hasn't changed her position one bit.

Why do people keep rehashing this, as if it's a new revelation or something shameful? First of all, she was born into a conservative family. All kids parrot their parents'/family's political beliefs, until they form their own political views. Some either continue the 'family tradition' or others break out on their own. Hillary was the latter.

Also, she was only 12 (turned 13 less than two weeks before the election) when she canvassed for Nixon in the 1960 elections, and 16 (turned 17 less than two weeks before the election) when she volunteered to campaign for Goldwater in 1964. When she attended Wellesley College, she served as president of the Young Republicans, but later stepped down when the Republican views contradicted the Civil Rights movement and Vietnam. By her junior year (1967-1968), she began supporting Eugene McCarthy's presidential nomination and anti-war platform. So she had a metamorphosis in college, like many young students tend to have, as they find themselves.

I don't understand people who hold that against her? It's not like she continued being a registered Republican until her late '40s like, say, Elizabeth Warren, who voted for Reagan TWICE and doesn't have that fact regurgitated each time her name is mentioned.

by Anonymousreply 21August 8, 2015 5:09 PM

Hillary cares about the American public.

by Anonymousreply 22August 8, 2015 5:10 PM

We'll never know what Hillary is really about because she's secretive and untrustworthy. I don't understand her followers who blindly support her just because she is a woman.

by Anonymousreply 23August 8, 2015 5:27 PM

Wow, R13. That speaks VOLUMES.

I think you may have helped me make my decision, and I would sooner vote for O'Malley or Biden than for some Wall Street cronie.

by Anonymousreply 24August 8, 2015 5:35 PM

Some people, like r14, are convinced that the reason people hate Hillary is because she's a woman. It has nothing to do with the fact that she is dishonest and stands for nothing. It's so funny because looking at her personal and professional life, Hillary is about as antifeminist as they come.

by Anonymousreply 25August 8, 2015 5:43 PM

R25, Hillary is not the anti Christ.

That was Dubya and Cheney and Rice.

Things were great under her husband. Things will be great with her, too.

She's better than any republican, hands down.

by Anonymousreply 26August 8, 2015 5:48 PM

CitiGroup, JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, and Morgan Stanley are all in her top 10 donor list?

You mean the 700 BILLION DOLLAR Citi, Goldman, JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley bailed out banks?

Well isn't that special.

Gotta love American politics.

by Anonymousreply 27August 8, 2015 5:48 PM

Elizabeth Warren was a Republican too up until twenty years ago.

And she still believes that the Tea Party should have an equal say in our government.

by Anonymousreply 28August 8, 2015 6:59 PM

Talk about return on investment, R27!

by Anonymousreply 29August 8, 2015 7:08 PM

I should have "Property of Wall Street" TAT-TOOED on my backside!!

by Anonymousreply 30August 9, 2015 2:14 PM

And?

by Anonymousreply 31August 11, 2015 9:54 PM

Incredibly sad.

by Anonymousreply 32August 13, 2015 5:06 AM

r13 is sad and true

by Anonymousreply 33August 14, 2015 5:18 AM

Black Lives Matter.

by Anonymousreply 34August 14, 2015 5:31 AM

Hillary doesn't give a shit about anyone but herself.

Never has.

by Anonymousreply 35August 14, 2015 5:49 AM

R35 she might not, but every president wants to go down in history with some positive legacy. I am assuming the OP wanted to know what will she chose for her legacy to be. I don't have the answer to that, except for women's rights maybe.

by Anonymousreply 36August 14, 2015 5:58 AM

I assume she doesn't smoke cigars. Her husband consorts with a large group of paedophiles, sex slave traders and do we want that rich mass of pervs having covert influence in the White House. And what's the deal with her secrecy issues. If she's lawful, she would be transparent. She's not. She hides. She covers up. She slinks like a snake. Like Nixon. She's the perfect politician.

by Anonymousreply 37August 14, 2015 6:17 AM

Hillary cares about Hillary. Nothing else.

by Anonymousreply 38February 7, 2016 11:12 PM

She cares about those that have the least in society and to help them.

by Anonymousreply 39February 7, 2016 11:18 PM

It depends on the polls.

by Anonymousreply 40February 7, 2016 11:28 PM

r37 really?

by Anonymousreply 41June 11, 2016 9:32 AM

She only cares about herself.

by Anonymousreply 42June 11, 2016 9:55 AM

Hillary is determined to do a good job. She is a very proud person. There's no way she will want to screw it up. I think she will help the economy get stronger, and create more and better paying jobs. I think she will work hard for peace and stability in foreign a policy, because it helps our economy. She is not going to pander to wedge issues either. She wants to be as good as Obama and Bill Clinton if not better, so I'm not at all worried.

And by the way, Hillary never posed as a Mother Theresa. She was the U.S. Senator from New York. The financial services industry were her constituents. If she was from Pennsylvania and got money from steel manufacturers, or California and got Tech companies, or West Virginia and got coal companies it would be the same difference.

She could turn down contributions, but if her opponents are taking them, it'll just weaken her. Don't bitch about Hillary if the system itself is fucked up. We need better laws and they need to be upheld by the courts so we need better judges. The fact is she has already pushed for tougher laws governing Wall St. that is a fact not some campaign bullshit.

Hillary is knowledgeable and she is perfectly capable and probably has sat face to face with the Goldman Sachs people and explained exactly why she was doing something they didn't like. She can get them to buy in to her perspective and show them how it will ultimately make things better for everyone.

by Anonymousreply 43June 11, 2016 10:57 AM

No way I want Trump or the Republicans to appoint the next three Supremes. That's a lifetime appointment & I won't live long enough to outlast another Scalia.

by Anonymousreply 44June 11, 2016 10:59 AM

What does any presidential candidate care about?

Being president. That's it. And that's how the candidates who become presidents win over the candidates who don't. Every single man to hold the job has been ruthlessly ambitious about getting it.

by Anonymousreply 45June 11, 2016 10:59 AM

I think this is still relevant.

by Anonymousreply 46February 21, 2018 7:22 PM

Herself, OP.

by Anonymousreply 47September 14, 2020 1:50 AM

Fuck u, R47. Hope u die a terrible and painful and prolonged death.

by Anonymousreply 48September 14, 2020 3:40 AM

She cared too much for Huma. She should have cut her loose and it would have avoided the Comey scandal the weekend before the election.

by Anonymousreply 49September 14, 2020 3:46 AM

R48, if we can't review the mistakes made in 2016 (and learn from them), how can we expect to win in 2020?
