Has there ever been a thread about Sufjan?
I like his music, but even beyond that....he's pretty fucking hot.

Not sure how R2's picture represents tiny meat.
And he's been working out!
by Anonymous | reply 3 | January 18, 2015 1:03 AM |
Isn't he some sort of religious Christian rightwing nutjob?
by Anonymous | reply 4 | January 18, 2015 1:35 AM |
Lame. Nothing special.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | January 18, 2015 1:43 AM |
He is a fundie.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | January 18, 2015 1:48 AM |
Is that Cat Stevens son? Cat Stevens went all Islamic you know.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | January 18, 2015 1:51 AM |
R7 He's not related to Cat Stevens. His bio says he freely draws from the Bible and other spiritual traditions, often incorporating mystical elements into his music.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | January 18, 2015 1:57 AM |
Gay gay gay. When he speaks, he projectile-vomits purses.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | January 18, 2015 3:34 AM |
Age of Adz is phenomenal. One of my favorite albums from 2010, along with The ArchAndroid.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | January 18, 2015 3:47 AM |
There was a thread on him back in the day.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | January 18, 2015 3:49 AM |
fay gace
by Anonymous | reply 13 | January 18, 2015 3:50 AM |
pretentious beyond belief
by Anonymous | reply 14 | January 18, 2015 3:51 AM |
His parents were in a Muslim cult, he went to a right wing Christian cult college, he doesn't like to talk about religion.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | January 18, 2015 3:55 AM |
super hot but boring music. also have heard that he claims sobriety but I've seen him sloppy drunk several times at sunnys in red hook.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | January 18, 2015 4:01 AM |
He's pushing 40 and no sign of a relationship - I'm guessing closeted gay.
He is attractive, though.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | January 18, 2015 5:20 AM |
R16, was he getting sloppy on dudes?
by Anonymous | reply 18 | January 18, 2015 6:22 AM |
he was just sloppy drunk with friends never saw him get handsy with men and only know of one girl in the friend group he had sex with
by Anonymous | reply 19 | January 18, 2015 7:21 AM |
Did the girl say what he was like in the sack, R16/R19?
by Anonymous | reply 20 | January 18, 2015 7:03 PM |
I was well sloppy drunk last night! It never came up, no. I can text her to ask though
by Anonymous | reply 21 | January 18, 2015 7:42 PM |
Please do, R21! Some real gossip on this site finally!
by Anonymous | reply 22 | January 18, 2015 9:18 PM |
Cute vs. Hot
The former.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | January 18, 2015 9:24 PM |
There is a picture which supposedly shows him getting a blowjob from a girl on a roller roster.
He is utterly self righteous and an insufferable humourless, urban hipster gangsta allophilic. Likes all that lowbrow anti-gay, mysoginistic rap an RnB shit. The sorta embodiment of pitchfork.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | January 18, 2015 9:49 PM |
i'd suck him
by Anonymous | reply 25 | January 19, 2015 3:40 AM |
I wonder if @R24 is in my social circle
I forgot about the thread but will text her tomorrow am! promise
by Anonymous | reply 26 | January 19, 2015 7:39 AM |
i would bone him.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | January 19, 2015 7:43 AM |
theres no way in hell he is straight
by Anonymous | reply 28 | January 19, 2015 7:49 AM |
I liked his first few songs, but after he went too hipster hop dayglo crap I lost all interest. I'm more into Americana and alt country now so I haven't heard anything about him or by him for ages, the whole Brooklyn hipsters scene is just so boring and sort of embarrassing.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | January 19, 2015 10:09 AM |
The photo at R29 does not look like him.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | January 19, 2015 11:56 AM |
I listened to some of his Christmas music during the holidays, very pleasant. I assumed that he is religious but didn't realise he was family.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | January 19, 2015 12:01 PM |
I've been following his music for about 10 years now. Suf is very private about his personal life, but his circle of friends know him to be bisexual.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | January 19, 2015 12:33 PM |
Where was that pic taken, R29?
by Anonymous | reply 34 | January 19, 2015 12:51 PM |
I think he is straight, and rather snobby. Hipster aren't cool, they have a very frat boy mentality, yes they are humourless , the only time I ever saw them laugh is when they are laughing at someone mockingly. I Was glad I left Brooklyn, very fake and insincere and contrived and up itself. Not a nice scene, more mean boys that mean girls.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | January 19, 2015 1:01 PM |
Where does he find his boys, R33?
by Anonymous | reply 36 | January 19, 2015 1:09 PM |
40 and no girlfriend?? Super Homo!
by Anonymous | reply 37 | January 19, 2015 2:00 PM |
Suf is very private about his personal life, but his circle of friends know him to be bisexual.
But what will Jesus say? Gasp!
by Anonymous | reply 38 | January 19, 2015 2:02 PM |
'Suf, as I like to call him as one of his inner circle, is very private about his personal life, but his intimates, such as myself, know him to be bisexual and I am happy to violate his desire for privacy by posting anonymously on DL that he is bi'
by Anonymous | reply 39 | January 19, 2015 2:16 PM |
He ain't bi, if he is gay he has willed himself bisexual, if he were bisexual he would have willed himself straight.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | January 19, 2015 4:54 PM |
haha so my friend says he's average on all accounts, and I quote "I mean it's nothing to put a ring on but nothing to complain about" then "better than the average pitchfork musicians I've got on my ever growing list" and then "why are you asking me this now" and as I type this I got an "answer me you shit" :p
by Anonymous | reply 41 | January 20, 2015 1:10 AM |
Sunny's in RedHook? Baaaawwhaaaa!!!! Red Hook? Red Hook? I'd be so ashamed to be seen anywhere near that derelict hovel of a hood.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | February 8, 2015 8:44 PM |
Verificatia?
by Anonymous | reply 43 | February 8, 2015 9:13 PM |
I guess if he is from Detroit Red Hook and Brooklyn might actually seem rather homely to him.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | February 8, 2015 9:32 PM |
Everyone knows Red Hook is up and coming idiot
by Anonymous | reply 45 | February 9, 2015 7:19 AM |
He's gorgeous and I can tolerate pretentious hipsterism up to a certain point, but the religious crap is a major dealbreaker.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | February 9, 2015 7:44 AM |
Oh r45, you are so cute, but OK whatever.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | February 9, 2015 8:04 PM |
It's pretty obvious he's probably gay, or bisexual. If he's heterosexual he's your typical indie musician and boring since he's a hipster.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | March 5, 2018 4:43 PM |
We Can't Stop Wondering if Sufjan Stevens Sings About God or Being Gay
by Anonymous | reply 49 | March 5, 2018 4:57 PM |
So boring. Perfect for CMBYN.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | March 5, 2018 5:00 PM |
People who find him boring have either not given him the chance, or are incapable of seeing the beauty his lyrics evoke. It is kind of like poetry, not everyone gets it. Sufjan is very deep, introspective, and a beautifully sensitive soul.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | March 5, 2018 6:20 PM |
I have to say his skin looked amazing for his age last night.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | March 5, 2018 6:32 PM |
*last night [italic]at the Oscars,[/italic] for those of you reading this in the distant future
by Anonymous | reply 53 | March 5, 2018 6:34 PM |
His music is just so "pasty" .He is nice to look at, but I prefer music with a bit more heft.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | March 5, 2018 6:39 PM |
R54 I have to say I like it the more I watch it. It's refreshingly short, as opposed to the other songs that overstayed their welcome. However, the nerves got to him in a couple of places and the backing vocals weren't that great.
And everyone sounded a bit shit last night, even the one singing during the In Memoriam segment. The host didn't have any musical numbers so the producers must not have bothered with the sound design for singing all that much.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | March 5, 2018 6:42 PM |
R6 - how do you know he is a fundie? His religious background is mainstream American protestant.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | March 5, 2018 6:51 PM |
He's no fundie. Militant liberal atheists are just keen on digging anyone who professes a belief in a higher power or creator an early grave. He has stated he personally rejects organised religion in his own life. Now even being spiritual is taboo apparently.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | March 5, 2018 7:12 PM |
Not sure if that person was being serious, but a fundie is not going to write a song for Call Me By Your Name. C'mon.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | March 5, 2018 7:16 PM |
the picture at r8 just screams tedious beige man going to extremes to look interesting.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | March 5, 2018 7:16 PM |
Yeah, right R59! Doesn't the sheer stupidity of posters here never cease to amaze?
by Anonymous | reply 61 | March 5, 2018 7:21 PM |
he whisper sang on the Oscars and doesn't have a strong singing voice. His song, while boring, had a nice chord progression, far outdistancing the other song nominees. Mary J Blige was awful, so was that Andra Day person.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | March 5, 2018 8:20 PM |
Why do we not worship Sufjan? He's a hottie and all sensitive and stuff.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | June 15, 2019 3:16 AM |
r63 He's also super Christian, so it's a no from me.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | June 15, 2019 3:18 AM |
He's as far from a fundie as you can get though. He's one of the few artists who I can stomach Christianity from. His music's also beautiful and he's gay as fuck, so his faith is far from a threat.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | June 15, 2019 3:22 AM |
One of the all time worst Oscar losses. His song was perfect. Even if the movie it was written for was not.
You could tell he was pissed too. Who wouldn't be, losing to some tired song from "Coco"? More Disney crap.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | June 15, 2019 3:24 AM |
The movie was not perfect, but I did love his song. I wanted it to win just as much as I wanted Timmy to win.
by Anonymous | reply 68 | June 15, 2019 3:25 AM |
I doubt Sufjan was pissed at losing. I'm sure he was surprised to be there at all. Guys like him and Jonny Greenwood, who was also nominated that year for his Phantom Thread score, are better than that ceremony.
That being said, "Mystery of Love" easily should have won. So should've Greenwood.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | June 15, 2019 3:28 AM |
R67 When the best song was announced, Sufjan said “thank you Jesus”, because he was terrified about getting up there to do an acceptance speech.
He wasn’t pissed....far from it. He’s awkward as hell in his interviews and he seems to be a touch autistic.
by Anonymous | reply 70 | June 15, 2019 3:28 AM |
Thanks, guys. Still wish he would've won, even if he sounds like Elliot Smith (another bad loss in Oscar lore, though he had no prayer against the Titanic song).
by Anonymous | reply 71 | June 15, 2019 3:31 AM |
Wish the whole move had been as ,moving as this fan made music video.
by Anonymous | reply 72 | June 15, 2019 3:33 AM |
r72 your video is the official video for MYSTERY OF LOVE.
It was directed by Luca Guadagnino boyfriend, Ferdinando Filomarino
by Anonymous | reply 73 | June 15, 2019 3:37 AM |
Ah, yes, hard to tell these days. He did a great job. Did the song get much airplay and traction?
by Anonymous | reply 74 | June 15, 2019 3:39 AM |
Did the song get much airplay and traction?
What is "airplay" nowadays? What does it even mean?
by Anonymous | reply 75 | June 15, 2019 3:41 AM |
No clue about airplay, but it distractingly popped up in the most recent episode of Big Little Lies.
by Anonymous | reply 76 | June 15, 2019 3:41 AM |
Nope. Sufjan’s never gotten much radio time (air play) because most people are tasteless idiots.
by Anonymous | reply 77 | June 15, 2019 3:43 AM |
