Joyce DeWitt
How did this woman ever become famous?
It's hard to think of someone less remarkable than Joyce DeWitt. Her pineapple hairdo was far worse than Ann "Hold Me David I'm Scared" Romano's bundt cake hair.
And while Chrissy was supposed to be the dumb one, Janet/Joyce always had this vaguely dumb/confused look on her face.

Janet was reasonably smart considering the show.
Joyce was more attractive than Suzanne.

There's one of those already, R4. Let me direct you to it, so R2 doesn't start twitching about it in a control-freak moment.

The only women less remarkable than Joyce who mysteriously led their own sitcoms are Susan Clark and Joanna Kerns.

Joyce was actually an accomplished theater actress before landing the role of Janet. She also has a masters degree from UCLA.
Her only problem was that she took the shows issues to heart. If she hadn't voluntarily left the business for a number of years, she easily could have a steady career doing supporting roles.

I have a drama degree from Carnegie Mellon. It doesn't make you charismatic or compelling to watch.

My god, she was the glue of that show. Between Jack's self-centered horniness and Chrissy's dippiness. She was a talented comic actress.
Do you people know anything about comic acting?

I am sure this has said before, but Kris K is her hair and eyeliner clone. I couldn't believe it the first time I saw KK, I hadn't seen 3'C in years and immediately thought of Joyce. Who knew she would be a style icon?

Joyce was always forcing her tits to bounce too. I guess she was trying to keep up with Somers.

I could hardly tolerate watching that show because of Suzanne attempts at trying to be a sexpot. She really was not pretty and I could only imagine (no, better not) what her Las Vegas revue was like..probably demonstrating the "Thigh Master" to the drunks in the audience.

she was much more natural in the early seasons and then her acting became amateurish and shrieky much of the time.
Perhaps she was overcomepensating for the horrible scripts. They all over acted like they were doing a junior high school play in the last year or so.
Except for Knotts who remained the master of comic timing.

God forgive me but I so enjoy the hatred for BF whose ODAAT might be the nadir of Norman Lear sitcoms who I consider the nadir of tv producers. I'll take the CBS hayseed of the 60s any day.
Funny thing is I enjoyed Franklin in Applause a lot and enjoyed her Carrie in Carousel. But something happened between Jones Beach and LA and she must now spend eternity paying for it.

Janet was a good character when the show first started. But by the end, Joyce started playing her first, which didn't really work.
She was good friends with David Letterman, and she dated Johnny Carson's lawyer, Henry Bushkin.
