R2 the title of the movie is...?
by Anonymous | reply 3 | October 15, 2013 9:54 PM |
Are you saying, OP, that she actually originated the role of Carrie?
by Anonymous | reply 4 | October 15, 2013 10:00 PM |
R4 read R3

I agree with R1. Have you seen her in Cluny Brown and Beat the Devil? She had a surprising knack for comedy. She had a light touch -- goofy and ethereal but believable. I wonder if Selznick didn't stop her from doing more of it (as Hearst did with Marion Davies).
That said, I think that Olivier is the standout in Carrie. One of his best film performances, it's also one of the most wrenching depictions of desperate love.

Sissy Spacek's Carrie (1976) was not a remake of Jennifer Jones' Carrie (1952). The plot and subject matter were not in the least bit related.

The 1952 movie was based on Theodore Dreiser's 1900 novel "Sister Carrie". It's a wonderful book & pretty decent movie.

Different movie.

What is the point of dimwitted posts like the OP's? "I know what! I'll go through IMDB and find movies with the same title and pretend to be all confused about them! That will be SOOOOO hilarious!"

I've always wondered what Terms of Endearment would be like if she managed to get the film made with herself in the leading role.

I was wondering if OP had to use his parents' credit card to pay the $18
by Anonymous | reply 12 | October 15, 2013 10:23 PM |
Bitch, please! I won a TONY for MY Carrie.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | October 15, 2013 11:12 PM |
$18 FOR THIS OP?
by Anonymous | reply 14 | October 15, 2013 11:14 PM |
I was Carrie. Also National Velvet and Mr. Ed.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | October 15, 2013 11:46 PM |
The Sissy Spacek Carrie is based on the Stephen King book which was also written in the 70s but you knew that, right? Your'e TRYING to be funny?
by Anonymous | reply 16 | October 15, 2013 11:53 PM |
Please pay attention to R8. He is being too discrete.
Sister Carrie is not my kind of book, but it is a great, bad movie with Mr. Olivier and Jennifer Jones. She wanted more, and she gets it. Tragedy.
There is no menstrual blood, but she does prick her finger...

It was the fifties in Hollywood. You could prick your finger, but not the opposite.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | October 16, 2013 2:14 AM |
Did Sissy channel Jennifer in her performance?
by Anonymous | reply 19 | October 16, 2013 1:04 PM |
Jennifer originated the role of Carrie in real life!

Wow, high schoolers looks so much older back in the 50's.

How come Jennifer Jones wasn't offered a cameo in the 1976 remake with Sissy Spacek?
by Anonymous | reply 24 | April 25, 2020 2:11 AM |
Jones wasn't bad but not someone who could carry a big A picture without an ensemble.

Jennifer is on U.S. dollar bills?
by Anonymous | reply 26 | April 25, 2020 2:29 AM |
Only one image comes to mind when I think of Jennifer Jones.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | April 25, 2020 3:04 AM |
William Katt lacked the youthful hotness Olivier exuded in the role of the high school golden boy.
