She's a hoot in Caged...one of the screen's best bulldykes

Yay! Another Hope Emerson enthusiast!
Not much info about her, but her entire oeuvre is worth watching. "Adam's Rib" was sensational -- at least the parts that she and/or Judy Holiday were in.

No, she was just big and ugly.

Nah, but any guy who'd fuck her is at the very least bi.
Love her line to the man-hungry gals in stir: "When he touches me... I wanna tell him not to stop".

She never married or had children. For those old enough, she was the voice of Elsie the cow, on commercials

Won't someone bump this thread? Don't give up Hope.

Not the biggest star in Hollywood, but the largest.

BUMP for A Hope Emerson Christmas. Eleanor Parker had nice things to say about her. Said she used to play the piano between takes and was always worried about her mother. Her performance in CAGED in classic.

Who?

I liked her in WESTWARD THE WOMEN where her character is sort of like a bigger butcher MARJORIE MAIN. Her brief role as an acrobatic woman in ADAM'S RIB is well remembered. The 6'+ tall EMERSON was effective in her roles, no doubt in part due to her formidable size. Believe it or not she also had a decent singing voice and used in several episodes of PETER GUNN in the late 50s.

Of course she had a good singing voice. She was in the very operatic Broadway musical version of "Street Scene!" Love her!

I always confused her with Minerva Urecal

Minerva Urecal was relatively petite.

She was a marvelous supporting actress. She deserved the Oscar for her role of Evelyn Harper, in “Caged”.
