Calling any and all DataLounge Old Hollywood Historians, I have recently become obsessed with French Actor, Alain Delon. I am hoping that some of the faithful Datalounge historians of old Hollywood gossip might know anything about him. He was married three times with a number of kids (one from Velvet Underground's Nico (of all people)). Lengthy affairs with gorgeous women (Romy Schneider, especially, to whom he was engaged!) but (and this could simply be because he is French and was stunning) .... gossip about him and men - up to and including a story that Romy found him in bed with a guy which led to their broken engagement. Any further dirt would be most appreciated.
Alain Delon!

There was a guy on here awhile ago who said he had hooked up with Deloin in NYC in the 80s. That they met in an adult bookstore and Deloin sucked his dick in a video booth.
I know, anyone can say that but for some reason the post seemed really credible; the details, what he looked like and the location of the store (which I remember from the pervy halcyon days of Times Square).

I wouldn't believe any of those personal stories.
He admitted to having affairs with men when he was in the military for four years in his late teens. He came from a very rough background--foster parents were murdered, he was in and out of prison.

I know, right?
What bugs the shit out of me is rarely finding his early films in either good condition or with subtitles or both....
In the very early films - he looks like a dark haired and prettier Zac Efron...
The only gossip I dug up was that notorious letch/agent/pimp Henry Willson spotted him in France and tried to broker a deal with him before he became famous. Willson also made sure Rock Hudson tagged along to the meeting.
Delon ended up not signing and staying in France.
Rock Hudson's only comment was (according to the book on Henry Willson):
"He doesn't have a big dick!"
The funny thing is Delon's dick looks fairly decent.

R1, I'm the one who 'fessed up to the encounter with Delon. The videostore was actually Exxpressions, which is the subject of another thread. It's not in Times Square, it's on E 53rd betw 3rd and 2nd Ave. It makes far more sense he would have sneaked into that one-he probably was staying on 1st Ave or Park at the time. He was standing in the booth with the door half open. He was watching a straight porn video and stroking his dick. I could tell it was him right away. His dick was thick, obviously uncut, average size. White hair. Not in particularly good shape but I didn't care, it was fucking Alain Delon! I went straight for his nipples and sucked on them for a while. He didn't make a sound and he didn't move his hands to guide me anywhere. I went down on him and sucked his dick until he came. As far as I could tell he never looked at me, his eyes were closed. He shot his load on the floor after I finished him off with a handjob. Not a word was exchanged. I was still OK with it although of course I would have loved for there to have been reciprocation! But I had sex with someone I regarded as having been the most beautiful man ever (next to Franco Nero) and that was, in the end, enough for me.

I have also recently become obsessed with him R-1! He was outrageously beautiful, I read the press referred to him as the Angelic Ice King LOL. He is the definition of smoldering sex appeal, and a very good actor as well. Actors from that time, especially American actors, always had to be "macho" a bit wooden, & very self aware. Alain Delon is both manly, sensual and uninhibited. To my surprise he also admitted his bisexuality early in his career. I want to see more of his films. I loved Rocco & his Brothers and Purple Noon- his performance in that is legendary BTW. I want to see Le Cercle Rouge & Le Samourai. Scorpio with Burt Lancaster is coming on TMC tonight, and I will record it and watch later.

Purple Moon - oh dear !%0D %0D Purple Noon (Plein Soleil) is on dvd with subtitles, much better than any dubbed version. Its a delirious treat with the real mediterranean of 1960 and those great clothes - not like the 1999 version, and of course Delon at 24 is the definition of icy beauty. Le Samurai from 1967 is also classic, as is Le Piscine from 1969, lots of swimming pool stuff, with his ex lover Romy Schneider, and Maurice Ronet from Plein Soleil. %0D %0D His other classics include Visconti's The Leopard in 1963 - wonder if he and Burt got it on with gay Visconti - they also did a second movie together Scoprio but that was a Michael Winner "thriller" when they were older. He is also good in Antonioni's "L'eclisse" in 1962.

I was obsessed with him when I was a teenager. He was the most beautiful man in the world, and had so much charisma. I saw him a year ago having a romantic walk in the Bois de Boulogne in France with a female model who was probably 50 years younger than him. Impeccably dressed, he was the gentleman and took her on a boat ride on the lake. Too bad he has some really shitty political views and has become more or less paranoid.

I've mentioned this before in another thread. Bob Evans wrote about being with Delon and his wife and Bob's buddy Eddie Fisher playing cards at Bob's house. Bob dropped a card and bent down to pick it up and spied Mrs Delon playing with the crotch of Eddie Fisher. He said nothing until the next morning when they woke up and found out that Mrs Delon had packed her bags and followed Eddie to a gig in Florida. Evans and Delon followed her and tried to persuade the wife to return to California with them, but she refused. The marriage was over.
Eddie over Alain. Wow.

According to what David Ehrenstein posted here once, before he became an actor he had an affair with the openly gay actor Jean-Claude Brialy, who took him along to the Cannes film festival, where he then hooked up with a mafioso, who got him his start in the film business. Ehrenstein also said that Visconti used to watch as he fucked Romy Schneider.

I am female and not gay, although I have fooled around with women in orgy settings, before the HIV thing came along. I imagine if Delon has had gay experiences it was in orgy settings too. You should see his love scene in The Widow Couderc, with Ottavia Piccolo, who played a teenage unwed mother. They are the hottest I have ever seen. Seeing him kissing her in the French way, I am certain he is not gay. Some things can't be faked, even by great actors. %0D %0D He is full-frontal, although somewhat hazy behind a shower door, in Le Choc. %0D %0D I have always held men to the Delon standard and thus never married, once jilting an ex-fiance practically at the altar. I have adored him sinced Purple Noon. His movies are available not only through Netflix but also ebay but you have to be careful that the DVDs are programmed for the US. %0D %0D Anyone who says Delon was in the US in 2006 is a liar, because he was being treated in Switzerland, where he is a legal resident, for a heart condition in 2006. Anyone who says he is not magnificently hung needs to see the shower scene mentioned above. Don't know if he's circumsized, but with him sho cares?%0D %0D He has "been" with, hung around with, whatever, with literally every beautiful actress/woman of the 60s and 70s: Those broads were no fools! When he was very young, beginning in 1957, he went with and became engaged to Romy Schneider. There are at least six massive bios of him, all in French. His romances with women are well-documented. I would love to know if he and Jane Fonda hooked uop because they weere in Joy House (French version is called The Cats or The Kittens, I think) and Fonda's French is impeccable. Haven't researched if she was married to Roger Vadim (Bardot's first husband) at the time or not.%0D %0D He was exceptional in all his movies, whether the movies are exceptional, or not. But he has made many great ones. In Le Samourai he gives a riviting portrayal of a hired-killer schizophrenic.%0D %0D He still works in Fremch TV and makes French, Italian and Swiss films. I think he is still the handsomest man on thbe planet, and he has not (yet, but Iwish he would) resorted to plastic surgery to get rid of the bags under his eyes, etc. He still has his hair and still has a great physique.%0D %0D He still generates major heat and I, for one, would faint if I ever saw him in person. One can stand only so much beauty before sucumbing.%0D %0D BUT, I wouldn't be so obsessed with %0D Delon were he not a great actor, as well as the most handsome guy ever. And to even dare to compare icky actors like Zac Efron or Rob Lowe to Delon is ludicrous. Their looks are rank and they can't act and they generate no heat because they lack charisma.%0D %0D Hard to believe that the child Delon was so badly treated by his parents, he was such a beautiful young man, but I think childhood experiences probably made him the deep, soulful performer he has proven himself to be. %0D %0D Romy Schneider, BTW, died at 43 while still grieving for her 14-year-old son, who bled to death while trying to climb over a barbed wire or wrought-iron fence of some kind when he punctured his femoral artery a couple of years earlier. The coroner's ruling was inconclusive but most think she died of a toxic mixture of -- wait for it -- pills and booze. When Schneider died, Delon had the son's remains moved and buried next to his mother in a true gesture of love. Very moving.

Oh, I forgot. In Keith Richards' autobiography, Life, he says Nathalie Delon stayed for a time with the Rolling Stones in the south of France while the Stones were recording Exile on Main Street. She, according to Keith, was hooking up with Bobby Keys, who recorded (or still records) with the Stones. She was "hiding out" at the Stones' rented villa because Alain Delon's chauffeur had just been murdered. %0D %0D The Delons had been -- maybe it's merely hearsay -- romantically involved (!) with the president of France and Mrs. president of France around that time. An older couiple, shall wee say, compared with the Delons, who were young. Rumor has it that Nathalie was getting it on with the chauffeur. Delon was making a movie elsewhere at the time of the chauffeur's death. All water under the bridge now. I think the chauffeur was Corsican -- Corsica is an island off the coast of France, Napoleon, all that . . .%0D %0D Delon, who reportedly is part Corsican, has long been accused of hanging with French gangsters based in Marseilles. Of course, Delon has several times played gangster types and several of his movies have been set in Marseilles. Who knows? You probably get to know folks when you're researching a part.%0D %0D Delon's worst movie, and in my humble opinion, his only really bad movie was with Marianne Faithful, Girl on a Motorcycle. His love scene with her doesn't really generate much heat and she, along with Jane Fonda, is one of Delon's more unattractive co-stars. I seer to remember some talk along those lines back in the day, but Delon has been photographed with Mick Jagger and Faithful. But I need to research that more. I'm just not that motivated. That girl has some big jaw thing goin' on, kinda like Leno, and I just can't picture Delon liking her enough to hit that. He also is kinda dismissive of druggies and she was a major junkie at the time. Unless he just hit everything, regardless of quality, which I can relate to. But I don't get why Jagger dug her, either, because with that jaw thing goin' on, she's just not, you know, that attractive. She did have a nice enough body, though, so maybe that's the attraction, not the face. You know, butter face . . .but her face . . .%0D %0D If only I could read French I could probably learn a lot more. Maybe when I retire I can do Rosetta Stone or something.

We need biographies of Delon and Schneider in English. He has a new book out "The Women in my Life" with lots of photos - but its in French! - surely there is a market for an English version in English speaking countries. There are also at least have a dozen books on Romy Schneider but all in French or German - she still has a huge English following so we need some English books.

Here%E2%80%99s what I find fascinating about Delon.
He shoots his film debut, Quand la femme s'en m%C3%AAle in the early spring of 1957 (supposedly as a favor to a friend.)
Only a few months later he is at the Cannes Film Festival.
He is supposedly dating up and coming actress Brigitte Auber and is seen in photos from the Festival with her (generating press).
However, he seemed to have arrived with up and coming actor (and openly gay) Jean Claude Brilay. Brilay does what he can to promote Delon as well. (Again, generating press)
At the Festival, Huge Hollywood Talent Agent, Henry Willson sees Alain (and makes sure his number one client Rock Hudson sees him as well) and offers to take him to Hollywood.
It%E2%80%99s a deal Delon briefly considers and turns down. (A rather gutsy and confident move)
Somehow, during all this, Rock Hudson (who it should be noted, is the biggest male movie star in the world, at the time) later implies having seen Delon%E2%80%99s penis and was not impressed.
This is pretty heady stuff for an unknown actor with a very small part, in only one film, that has not even been released yet.
So what happens next?
Delon signs on for another film with a decent size supporting part...but nothing especially memorable.
And then, almost magically, he signs on for the coveted male lead in a big budget film, %E2%80%9CChristine%E2%80%9D !
All of this happens in less than a year%E2%80%99s time from the Cannes Film Festival!
%E2%80%9CChristine%E2%80%9D is released Christmas time of 1958, proves to be a huge hit and leads to his lengthy affair with Romy Schneider.
This makes them the darlings of the media for years. He is now a star in France with just one lead part and two very small ones behind him.
In 1960 both Rocco and his Brothers and Purple Noon are released. These are huge international hits (especially Rocco) and they quickly turn Delon in to an international superstar! It should be noted both film were directed by men who never married nor had children.
Today in Hollywood, this would be considered a sensational ascent to the very top of the food chain.
In the film world of 1957, it would be unheard of.
There is quite a story there %E2%80%93 waiting to be told!

Whoa, R42/43/frau, I'm not positive of the year of my encounter with Delon at Exxpressions because I don't keep a diary. It could have been 2004, it could have been 2008, I'm not really sure. As for his size I did say he had a thick uncut cock. It was a good size, perfectly good but he wasn't massively hung.
I find the speculation about my encounter with him amusing. I think I made it clear he had on a straight porno video in the booth at the time. He didn't react to my blowjob/handjob at all, I don't even think he moaned when he came. I suspect whatever gay experiences he's had have been him being serviced, by that gangster he supposedly was with and others, myself included. It happened on a hot summer Sunday, there was never anybody else down there. His was the only booth that was occupied, door was open somewhat but it didn't seem to be something he calculated for someone to walk in. I got a very good look at him before I stepped in. He was definitely Alain Delon, the same man who I've seen in pages of HELLO! magazine in my local newspaper store that sells foreign magazines. If you believe me, fine. If you don't, frankly I don't care.

The webmaster for it has used the handle Poseidon for years now, used to post at imdb.com and here too we think, so he kept it in the name of the blog. One of the posts there goes into it more. For fuck sake bitches he is 76 fucking years old! IMO he is still rather handsome, especially for his age. Unlike most people, he was still gorgeous up until his early sixties so give him a break. None of you will be as nice looking when you get that age.
by Anonymous | reply 86 | September 2, 2011 3:02 AM |
R-82, R-83 that last pic IS NOT from 1969, it is from I would say mid-late 70's. Go to youtube and look up La Piscine or Jeff, which were made in 1969 to see what he looked like then.
by Anonymous | reply 87 | September 2, 2011 3:09 AM |
Lets talk about his homosex lovers.
by Anonymous | reply 88 | September 2, 2011 3:11 AM |
His English is very good! I didn't know that.
by Anonymous | reply 89 | September 2, 2011 4:49 AM |
R86, you have no way of knowing that.
And the point is he would look better if he hadn't smoked.

r52 hits the Delon enigma right on the head. He was unknown in 1957, obviously mixing with gays. At the 1958 Cannes festival he was also photographed by gay English photographer James Barrington (subject of a fascinating book too) who took several smouldering shots of the young Delon.
Two years later he is a huge star with PURPLE NOON (Plein Soleil) by presumably gay Rene Clement followed by the Visconti films ROCCO and THE LEOPARD and THE ECLIPSE for Antonioni. This was the top of the tree back then. I also saw him in a little comedy about 3 girls bumping off a cheating boyfriend FAIBLES FEMMES, about 1959 when I was an early teen, then I loved PURPLE NOON when it came out.
I prefer Belmondo now,and that other good looker Jean Sorel, but Delon has endured despite those scandals.
by Anonymous | reply 91 | September 2, 2011 6:24 AM |
director Rene Clement was gay?
by Anonymous | reply 92 | September 2, 2011 6:28 AM |
Clement's IMDB page does not list any marriage or partner, so draw your own conclusions. I always got a gay vibe from his films (Knave of Hearts, The Sea Wall, Plein Soleil), he also directed Faye Dunaway in an amusing little thriller The House Under the Trees (or The Deadly Trap) in 1971, and a Charles Bronson thriller Rider On The Rain, but his career kind of fizzled out after the expensive war film Is Paris Burning? in 1966.
by Anonymous | reply 93 | September 2, 2011 6:33 AM |
Does 'Plein Soleil' have much of a gay sub-text? From what I can tell, Minghella's "Talented Mr. Ripley" has a heavier one.
by Anonymous | reply 94 | September 2, 2011 6:37 AM |
Alain would have made a great gay prince in The Lion in Winter! (Sorry, Timothy!)
by Anonymous | reply 96 | September 2, 2011 2:05 PM |
{Re:92} Not sure if Rene Clement was gay, but it is a fact that he was married to a woman, and that it was his wife Bella who helped Delon to convince him to give him the role of Tom instead of Philip in Plein Soleil, as was originally planned. You can read about it in Delon's rather scandalous biography by Bernard Violet (2000).
by Anonymous | reply 97 | September 2, 2011 6:19 PM |
if Clement was married, I guess that's proof that IMDB does not always have complete biographical profiles
by Anonymous | reply 98 | September 2, 2011 7:16 PM |
Nowadays he wouldn't be considered muscular enough, R101. He would be expected to have huge biceps and a 6-pack.
by Anonymous | reply 103 | September 8, 2011 7:36 PM |
I believe I stumbled across the way to embed tumblr pics.
by Anonymous | reply 104 | September 8, 2011 7:37 PM |
R107 is attractive, but he's showing slight signs of aging in that one
by Anonymous | reply 108 | September 8, 2011 7:49 PM |
I think R109 is a screencap from "Purple Noon"
by Anonymous | reply 111 | September 8, 2011 8:06 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 114 | September 8, 2011 9:06 PM |
Imagine a torrid love scene between Alain Delon and Catherine Deneuve when they were in their early twenties. . . I don't believe they were ever paired together, .. but Oh La La!! .. Hollywood would have no duo to compare with those two beauties!!
by Anonymous | reply 120 | September 9, 2011 1:03 AM |
Not much there, R116
by Anonymous | reply 121 | September 9, 2011 5:31 AM |
Because he was beautiful yet cold, I compared him to a piece of porcelain bathroom fixture. It was badly translated in the America press as "beautiful toilet."
by Anonymous | reply 122 | September 14, 2011 2:16 AM |
^lol.
by Anonymous | reply 123 | September 26, 2011 2:38 AM |
Delon is simply BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!
by Anonymous | reply 124 | July 4, 2012 7:11 PM |
R124, are you okay with the fact that he is bisexual and likes men too?
by Anonymous | reply 125 | July 4, 2012 8:57 PM |
Delon married twice, once to Nathalie because she was pregnant, and once (much later on) to Rosalie, who was some 30 years his junior. He's never lacked for female companionship, though.
When I was very young I saw "Les tueurs de San Francisco" one day on the Dialing for Dollars time slot when I was home sick from school, and I've adored him ever since.
His politics are very right-wing, though.
by Anonymous | reply 126 | July 4, 2012 11:46 PM |
[R120], Deneuve and Delon starred in "Un flic" in 1972, but their respectives beauties were bruised a bit by then.
by Anonymous | reply 127 | July 4, 2012 11:50 PM |
Why is he right-wing?
by Anonymous | reply 128 | July 4, 2012 11:53 PM |
I don't know why his politics are the way they are, but Le Pen is a personal friend. Delon has taken an anti-immigrant position. The same is true of Brigitte Bardot.
by Anonymous | reply 129 | July 5, 2012 12:10 AM |
Well, it depends on what type of anti-immigrant position it is. If some of the French are against letting extremist Muslims into the country, I can agree with that. If it's just a general anti-immigrant bias than that is something else.
I would have thought he would be open-minded since he's apparently been with men and is bisexual.
by Anonymous | reply 131 | July 5, 2012 12:41 AM |
Le Pen's National Front used to demand the deportation of all non-European immigrants from France. It had it's share of aggressive skinheads and neo-Nazis shoving people around. These days, the NF has toned it down a bit in a bid for more votes, but its platform is still racist, anti-Semitic, and anti-immigrant. It's not just radical Muslims that bother the NF.
Open-mindedness about sex doesn't always mean liberal politics. Would that it did!
by Anonymous | reply 132 | July 5, 2012 1:10 PM |
"had its share"
by Anonymous | reply 133 | July 5, 2012 1:21 PM |
[R125],Yes,it is Delon so I must share. Besides, I don't wanna marry the guy,I just wanna, you know, give him a peck on the cheek!

Is 'Purple Noon' the only film he's known for in North America?
by Anonymous | reply 141 | September 16, 2012 1:13 AM |
Delon had a brief, rather disappointing, American career in the mid-1960s. No hits came of it, and he returned to France. But there were some interesting co-stars (Ann-Margret, Shirley MacLaine, Anthony Quinn, Dean Martin).
by Anonymous | reply 142 | September 21, 2012 9:07 AM |
I live in Paris. Alain Delon has been advertising hearing aids for a year or so. Sort of sad

Alain Delon was absolutely gorgeous as a young actor, just incredible . I think French guys are naturally sexy with everyone and anyone. For them being sexy is in their genes , I think. I really do wish that the USA would be open to sexuality as the French are.
by Anonymous | reply 145 | October 27, 2012 11:07 PM |
It sucks that in America all the pervereted retards try to say good- looking actors suck Dick. Delon is not a homosexual if he was he would have moved to west Hollywood and made movies. All you Dick sucking pieces of shot should keep your fantasies to yourself and go suck each other off at book stores and swallow. Stop talking shot about Delon. P S. He's in a good film called "Once a Thief" (1965), with Jack Palance and Ann-Margret. I also like Alain in "Lost Command" (1966), with Anthony Quinn and Claudia Cardinale. Why wasn't Alain on any of the '80s prime time soaps like "Dynasty"?
by Anonymous | reply 150 | July 31, 2014 6:27 PM |
He lives in Geneva. I've seen him a couple of times over the past 10 years. He looks like shit now.
He was involved in the scandal of the prostitution ring in the Bois de Boulogne back in the 70s (so was Pompidou). It was never clear if it involved boys or underaged girls. It was all hushed up by the police because of Pompidou.

I just watched La Piscine last week, Delon and Schneider are a holidaying couple whose relationship starts falling apart when her ex lover and his teenage daughter - a slutty looking, very young Jane Birkin - come to visit. It's really sensational, gripping, and better than Plein Soleil for my money and features an amusingly 'with it' party scene with some very groovy dancing

Alain, Nathalie and an alleged lover of Alain, Jean-Claude Brialy.

Alain Delon is a fucking legend who has made films all over the world. They are classic films with meaning. What have you done but thrown your pathetic opinion while you sit at home and eat your dog's asshole. Alain Delon is a hero to anyone that loves film and for a piece of shot jealous fuck- head like you to defile him for aging which we all do is disgusting. If I was Julius Caesar I would have miles and monkeys rape you in the arena then have you suck your own Cock in a vice while you talk shit Dont talk bad about Alain Delon fuck-head

Alain Delon can stop have the youngest freshest pussy in the world. There is a video with Bruce Willis and Ashton Kutcher ata ball and both Bruce and Ashton are lined up to suck the Cock of Legend Alain Delon. Demi wanted to suck his taint. His American film career was great but who gives a fuck about Hollywood when you rule the French CinemA. Most American movies rip off French films anyways. Ashton Kutcher sucks Cock

by Anonymous | reply 161 | August 1, 2014 12:01 AM |
Alain Delon to me as a fan is the most complete dynamic actor. Brando, Dean and Clift were amazing but their personal lives were fucked up. Delon has always been successful lived a healthy lifestyle and starred in the best movies. He did all this and didn't have to suck Hollywoods dick like so many actors today. Purple Noon is masterpiece, talented ripely with Matt Damon is shit on a dick. The reason Minghella put gay overtones in Ripley is because he had to something to remake a perfect movie which should never have been remade. There is no queer subtext in Purple Noon it has nothing to do with the story whatsoever. Matt Damon filling in for Delon is like filling up a chocolate eclair with the shit of a wild boar. Damon acts the same in every fucking movie like he is gargling Ben Afflecks jizz in his mouth and it is spilling out. There will never be another Alain Delon he is the greatest legend of all cinema.

Why does the DL say he is bisexual? He's not. He's a terrible conservative person who speaks openly about being against gays.
