I remember watching the premier showing. The next day on the playground it's all we could talk about: I; an effeminate boy (who wasn't gay); and a fat girl we'd befriended.

The movie is filled with blatant and subliminal product placements from its sponsor.

Was this a TV Movie of the Week? Some “rough and ready” production quality is evident in the first few scenes, like the Klieg Lighting reflected in the car’s paint finish.

No, it's referred to as "an academy of fine arts." If you're in the mood for some '70s made-for-TV movie nostalgia, make it a double-feature with Jackson's "Killer Bees," costarring Gloria Swanson and Edward Albert.

I was so hot for the actor who played Satan.

It's SATAN'S School for Girls, not Salem.

And yes, it was an ABC TV Movie of the Week.

I remember watching it when it aired and how terrified I was when all the evil little sorority girls started beating Lloyd Bochner to death in the lake with bamboo poles.

The remake with Kate Jackson in the headmistress role and Shannen Doherty investigating her sister’s death is entertaining as well.

I saw this on DVD maybe 15 years ago and the only thing I really remember is one of the evil schoolgirls at the end keeps getting a closeup and she has a very noticeable droopy eye.

I don’t see any evidence for it but I could imagine some local affiliates insisting on calling it Salem’s School For Girls so as not to offend their conservative audience
